PC I've been having a blast!

I have bought and played to date

Dark and light

Animallica

P.A.M.E.L.A

Starbound

Minecraft

( I have played others , but didnt exactly own them , and wasn't impressed enough to pay for them)

I alos have SCUM , but I only got to play for about 10 minutes when my power supply exploded , and took my processor with it ( my fault, got lax on cleaning vents, and the basement I live in has an issue with dust and lack of airflow.) I havent been able to bring myself to run it again since then , cause i associate it with exploding computers.

My favorites of those are Starbound and miecraft . Because of the bulding sytems . I hate building systems that rely on prefab parts , and love the block by block building system they use . Also , destructable terrain/ terraforming are a big yes for me .

7dtd has both of those things in spades , and I love it for that .

And , unlike some other games , I can play multiplayer without having to join a server . So when hosting for friends , when we are done , the game doesn't continue while we are offline. Which means I can sleep/ go to work without worrying that someone is going to wreck all my hard work/ rob me blind . Don't get me wrong , I don't hate PVP , and enjoy it from time to time . I just feel that I should be present for it , and both parties should be consenting ( unless you play Horde . Greenskins are asking for it).

So far , I'm loving A17 . Had problems in the beginning with stamina , but it passes quickly .

I tried Mist bc how much Kage said he liked it, and was totally disappointed. Everything seemed so.... static. Played 2 days only.

Ive seen starbound mentioned, so Ill add Terraria to the list. OMG is that game good. I played it a lot long ago, and still do some times. Content seems unending unless you play it for years. It also has one of the best coop modes ever. Games with online mode that let you pause when playing alone, are good. Games that even pause when all of the players in the server press pause, are even better. Also, the way you can take your char to different games/worlds,even in otehr servers, and even create a bank that links to your bank in other games, awesome QoL features for coop

Subnautica and The Forest are games where you play through a story and don't have much of an impact on the game world.
Just in case this comment puts anyone off trying The Forest, I have many hundreds of hours in that game and have not once advanced the story past the opening cut scene. The game is so good played as a survival sandbox that I never felt the need.

Agree, it has a story, but it can be played as an open sandbox perfectly.

I'll second this. Subnatica was ruined by putting in a story for me I dont play survival games for story.

I have never, once, played attention to the story in the forest. I have hundreds of hours in it. Ad a matter of fact it's a long running joke on how much I dont give a crap about timmy lol

I have to agree with the OP, I've been having a really good time playing alpha 17. I first played the heck out of 7DTD on the PS4 but with no updates for the console in the foreseeable future, I bought the PC Version. For me, the PC version is like playing the sequel to 7DTD.

7DTD is hands down my favorite survival game but there a few others I have played that deserve a mention.

Don't Starve and especially its Shipwrecked DLC is a great survival game if you don't mind the Tim Burtonesque art style.

State of Decay YOSE is a lot of fun despite its bugs. Can't comment on the sequel as I haven't played it much yet.

SALT may not be for everyone but I got it on sale and was surprised at how much content there is in that game. Too bad the developers didn't optimize the game for performance (especially on the jungle islands) before they moved on to another project.

I picked up Stranded Deep during the holiday sale (I think it might still be on sale) and think it looks and plays great. It needs more content, but is still fun nonetheless.

Can't agree here.[Respectfully]

I'd love to see a story line in "The Forest" along with some end-game stuff like maybe taking care of survivors.

There's a whole lab of children, why not have quests to save them and then have to feed and protect them or something.

Anyway.... 7DTD with a story makes sense since it's primarily a SP game.

I get that it's not for everyone but we've already got RWG for that.... you know... when it's finally working.

Anyone look at Green Hell at all?

It looked really interesting to me from a survival game aspect, the way they have different food groups that have ranging impacts on your health and a learning through exploration system is a very refreshing and well done.

I'm not into zombie apocalypse fiction but a "campaign" for 7DTD would entail writing characters, relations and dynamics, as, I believe, the genre is more about people than events per se, like in the Walking Dead franchise or Last of Us.

Or you could go for the ♥♥♥♥ standard and do it like Fallout 76: follow diaries and audio logs of people that have died a long time ago.

Mmh, If Empyrion fits into the survival category then Factorio is survivaly too. And sure, it actually has a "survival" tag on steam.

Well, then there is no question which game is the only one that can hold it's own besides 7d2d (IMHO), even though it is quite different (top down like RImworld, very focused on "crafting" stuff automatically). If you think the electricity system in 7d2d should have a lot more bells and whistles, then Factorio might be right for you.

Couldn't have made that point any better.

I completely agree.

Especially TWD book series.

Much more than the show it focuses on people and interactions.

Eventually Zombies just become part of the environment.

I wouldn't mind some of that making it's way into 7DTD.

I am an amateur writer and spend time on writer's forums.

There are a TON of really talented writers who'd love the chance to take on a project like this.

They'll work for cheap too. They just want their first break.

I think TFP spending a little money to hire one or two of these people would be brilliant.

Crossing my fingers.

The thought of the clockwork blood moon oppresses you in your daily routine,
Agree with most of your post, except that "clockwork" part. Blood horde moons should be random nights, none of this 7 days like clockwork easy peasy mode.

Random horde nights will make the game heck of lot more challenging and scary.

That's already on it's way.

Then you will like this option:
Blood Moon Range - Sets a random range that blood moons will happen. 0 is off. 3 would mean a blood moon can happen up to 3 days later than normal.

It is only plus since the start is determined by Blood Moon Frequency and range then adds to it.
The settings are:

Blood Moon Frequency (0, 1, 3, 7, 14, 30)

Blood Moon Range (0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 10, 14, 20)

They are numeric options, so you could do others values.

Combined you can do stuff like every 1-2, 1-4, 1-8, 3-7, 3-13, 7-11 days.

That is a great idea. Terribly great.

Thats what fataal implemented.

If you want on average a horde all 7 days

Frequency 1 Range 14 (Horde all 1-14 days)

or

Frequency 3 Range 7 (after every horde 3 safe days and then 7 days the horde can come randomly)

That a mod?

build stairs to climb buildings or climb out of holes
Let me spoil your 7DTD 'virginity' with the following revelation: Nerd poling with wood frames...

A cheap, recoverable 'resource'. You'll never build stairs ever again.

I've vote for that. At day 250 , I just think oh now another hoard night.

Then another day after that clearing up the mess/repairing. A bit of random with maybe a longer gap would be better.

Oh and welcome to the party Apostophe! its nice for the game to get some new positive feedback. I've been loving it since 2013

and I've tried most of the mentioned survival games and nothing gets close to it for flexibility of play.
