How far have you gone this playthrough?

day 28 in desert took on navezgame prison not realising it was day 28. horde started on the way home. was a scramble but made it home and wiped the floor as usual.
heavy into scavenger this playthrough on vanilla settings (minus soft options like respawn)
day 33 an have lvl6 smg lvl6 sniper trying to max lucky looter and penetrator. level 50ish. lvl 6 impact driver is better than many pick axe i reckon and knocks trees down real fast. and doors. 2 tap on most blocks. all those tools you dont need replaced by impact driver. less inventory locked spaces as a result = more inventory space for the mental amounts of resources. stacks of 1k mech and elec parts sell for heaps. dont need crucible as steel comes from so much with perception mastery points.
new fave strategy is agility for knive pistols and most importanlty max jump height then perception for scavenge scavenge scavenge.
bonus is books for machete and smg just keep flowing
perception for scavenger is bonus for sniper and penetration
forget int and str and fort

I have this tick, where I want to complete a map, and learn where things are and how they look, and to this end, I keep playing on the same map over and over again. The only PoI I am sure of is, Bob's Boars & Carl's Corn, that One I can find anytime I know which of the 4 pine forest traders I started at. Where the 2nd is, all I remember is, somewhere in the burnt forest. There are also 2 Hogzilla PoI's, but all I know is at least one of them is in the pine forest.
What size of map do you play? assuming you use random generated maps. I used the mod/app Terrgon from Pile and had a custom 13K map. Had enough massive mega cities to scavenge into day 1000. I would recommend Teragon, but the learning curve is very high. Like I tried to make a 14K map but it would crash, so weirdly I used a 13k map and it worked. I am a perfectionist as you can see in my base videos. so me and Teragon had a long relationship of trial and error for possibly month's. I had 3 different computers running the program with different settings over and over.

Here is the result:

preview.jpg

I do not think that if you use an at least 8K random gen map you should have to reset the map. Unless you played respawn on it and already knew it. I mean if you play 20 days on it you might know, what 1-5% or something on a 10K map. Think of it as the actual region you lived in, in real life when the zombie apocalypse happened. You would know some of the land you grew up in I would imagine. In The Walking Dead, the guys knew the area they were in when the zombie apocalypse happened.

It does makes me happy you are logging your game in this thread. Its really kind of cool to me. Although please make a video of bloodmoon!

I think it is in the 9K x 9k size range. The 10K maps were to much for my computer

I have made videos on blood moons, but deleted them when they would not post, no even the 6 minute videos. i watched the video tutorial you posted, but I am not sure i can read all the drop down menus within the program, hench,I don't have it.

I play dead is restart, so some parts of the map I know well, but that is all within the pin forest, and really just around my favorite trader location there. The other three are all way to close to other Biomes.

I just remembered about spawn locations. Seeing how in my game the spawns were limited to the pine forest, I still had 10 different random spawn points. Can you change the amount of random spawn points? If so this seems random enough to keep your previous map.

Its too bad you cannot upload it to me and I could do it for you. Not sure how though. I have an account with Microsoft for One Drive. You would really have to compress it I think though. I do not know the limit of the size allowed on One Drive.

On pc it is an easy fix, so you can get multiple use from a single map. This is how I do it.

1 do a new using the same map
2 Console DM
3 go in game and open the map
4 click on the button on upper right of the map box
5 go left once to select biome view
6 Hit F3 to get 3d position data
7 Teleport to a spot that you prefer and hit f9 for print screen
8 Repeat as many times as desired.
9 close game and go to The saved map most likely in the Worlds folder under the game
10 open spawnpoints.xml Select to the left of the first spawnpoint position, scroll down
the holding shift key select to the right of the last spawnpoint positon and either delete
or block comment.

11 now using your printscreens post a line following the same format and put in the
coordinates, Save and play. Now these are the points of reference the game will use.

Edit there is one funky bit though: If you want to hedge your bet of using each of the new points
Don't delete the save, just create a new start and add a 1 at the end. I tested doing it after deleting
a save before restart, and kept spawning at the same point. Then I left the save, renamed a new one
by a simple digit and spawned in one of the other locations.

Day 23 (90min days so like day 35 by default standards)

Fully specced into perception except for The Infiltrator and Animal Tracker. Loving the amount of resources you can get from salvaging every POI you're in, got stacks and stacks of dukes from selling parts. Made a (cheesy) horde base to utilize grenades and rockets, lots of fun but needs some more tinkering for the next horde.

The spear and rifle combo is fun, but i'm concerned about late-late game, i don't think i'll be able to do many of the new tier 5 quests like this. Every weapon in the perception tree feels like a support weapon, the lack of firepower will be my death for sure. The explosives are very strong ofcourse, but it's not really sustainable to throw grenades or shoot rockets at every group of zombies you see, gotta do alot of mining every week..

I turned some cozy cabin into my base, chopped all the surrounding trees and made a *little* farm 😇

Also having specced into salvaging made every salvaging tool better than axes/pickaxes/shovels, before i put points into miner69'er i was using impact drivers to chop trees and mine stone haha

Day 16, 0945 hrs.
Level 43, 1140 kills.
QP 26/30.

Got through second HN, it was easier than 1st HN, as I learned how to use what I have a bit better.

I wanted to give a glance at what I have done, point wise, and realise that just sharing the tables I use is easier. That being said:

1m Per.jpg
I have not yet put anything into Perception or its perk trees, working on other things
1m St.jpg
I needed my strength at level 5 asap. Getting better tools as fast as I can is central to my playstyle. I like to build, and so need to gather better, sooner rather than later.
1m For.jpg
My Fortitude and perk trees likewise are on hold, awaiting other skills reaching some minimums.
1m Ag.jpg
My Agility has to have the greatest running and jumping skills I can get.
1m Int.jpg
Intellect to is awaiting more levels/points.
1m Gen.jpg
The General tab, with my progress so far.

I am really weak, but playing without the crutch of extra loot and extra xp, means I will be weak for allot longer than I am used to.

Some things, I still cannot plant potatoes/make seeds. I just got the ability to make shrooms.

I went and messed around and found out, that setting off police cars alarms after dark, isn't such a good idea. I was out of stamina several times, was about 1/2 through the reaction force of zombies, and thought to myself, I'm just going to use up my stamina pool, and run away a bit, and wait till I am full, before taking on the 2nd half of the crowd.

Once I was away, and waiting...

I looked back where I had just been, and saw a Dire Wolf arriving on the scene, and It came up from what would have been my back. Remembering what happened last game, on day 35+, I just hightailed it on oughta there, and decided that running away, and living to fight another day was the better course of action. I ran all the way home, and vowed to wait till daylight before going back.

Good thing, to, because my little 4 legged friend was still there. First red loot bag for my current digital dude.

I cannot share my videos, but I can share pics. Anyone want to see my crafting and HN Bases?

Ooops, forgot to share that I still have one unspent skill point.

Why are there blade traps on "top" of your horde base?

Also, try some electric fence posts around your HN base to keep the zeds still while you aim. Its almost overpowered when using them as headshots or any shots are way easier. Just buy a generator from a trader, wrench a car or two and you will will always get an engine and gas from a couple of cars and you can take hackers candy to help that. then just buy the fence posts and a wire tool and you are good to go. It really is ridiculous as to how much easier the fence posts can be when defending your base. What I do is have one normal placed fence post on the ground and then use a block to come out and put another fence post upside down above the other one in the same direction, this keeps the zapping for a lot longer when you are aiming. Just do not fire a rocket near the posts or you will knock them out and you have too replace them.

What blade traps? those are spikes for the pigeons ;)

This base makes the zombies fall into a pit where they cannot escape from (though they think they can so they wont destroy much)
and i just throw grenades at them all night long. It's soooo satisfying to see whole groups of them blow up, might put the zombie count to 64 for the next horde haha

I just wasted many minutes watching my friend play her horde night. No only do they spawn an all steel base into their game on day 1, but they cheat and just use admin guns all night.

I have tried to offer to teach them how to actually play, but after tonight, I won't bother anymore. If this is what they want to do, and claim they play 7dtd, I'm just good luck and have fun.

I won't ask them to stream anymore, as to me it is totally pointless and mindless. They don't know how to build bases, and they don't want to learn how.

Sad.

I'll stay connected, but after this disgrace is over, I'll never waste time watching them "play" 7dtd again.

Day 20, 0510 hrs.
Level 50, 1251 kills.
QP 30/60.

I got a little bit more done, need to one stroke stone down in the 'Mines of Moria', as I spend way to much time 2-stroking the rock as it is right now. lvl 4 steel pickaxe, 3 mods, but no bunker-buster, and miner 69'er and Motherload are both still locked at lvl 4. I am wearing full set of Miner gear, but only lvl 2 (best I can make).

I finally have a mushroom crop, and can make a couple full stacks of burnt Biome drinks. My plan is to run to Jenn, get the Bob trade route quest, then RTB. Once I have more shrooms, amd some Aloe leaves, I can make a couple stacks of Desert Biome drinks, and knock that out.

It's day 20 right now, HN 3 is going to find me wanting to make contact w/Bob, but I think I'll just wait till day 22 for that.

Honestly, my death by Dire Wolf last game, sometime after HN 5, has me wanting to play it safe, and go one step at a time. I reached day 38 last game, got cocky and overconfident, went after my 4-legged friend, and he had me for a snack. This game, I want to keep things focused on what I can do, in my current game, and not play off memories of previous games, where I had the loot and xp bonuses making me stronger/faster than I should have been.

Only time will tell if I can keep things focused, and reach 300th w/out a single death, w/out the bonuses I had been depending on for the first 2 years of playing 7dtd.

My Crafting base has lost all it's farm plots to my Farming Base, which is under construction right next door, but stone mining is taking up twice as much time as it could/should be.

My Horde Base got a new roof, and is somewhat stronger than it was before, but honestly, I think I am good for all HN's with what I got now. Of course, I hang out in the Pine forest on HN, and will not do any of them in a higher Biome until I hit 300th level this game. In future games, I will try to get my 10 HN's with at least some of them in the higher Biomes. Right now, I plan to do a proof of concept game, playing all the way to 300th level, but unlike previous game, w/out the loot and XP bonuses. If I can manage that, this game, then next game maybe I can try some in the burnt Biome. Eventually, I could see trying to do them in the Wasteland Biome.

All that being said, I still need to upgrade all my supports on my HN base to cement blocks. I think I have enough cement mix to do both the CB and the HN bases, at least the first 4 blocks above ground level, anyway.

I can try to get my blood moon's posted over on my YouTube site, but when I was actively posting there, I had to break down my video's into 6 minute micro videos, and of course, my eyes were not as bad back then.

My free video making software is called OBS, but I had to have a friend help me get it installed back then, and that was when I could still read the instructions.

On the plus side, I have an upcoming appointment at the VA. I currently get a small amount monthly in the form of disability compensation and pension, but now that I know what happened to me back in 1987, I may, stress MAY, be getting properly paid for that lifelong disability. If the Nurse/Coordinator can help me secure my benefits, I may even have enough to buy a dedicated computer/7dtd server, and will be able to hire my brother to set it up to play the game with my preferences.

I play v2.4, and have edited out all the un-zombie like spitting and other ranged attacks, so if I do get more money, I'll be putting it into better computer/software/internet connection.

I just see that typo now. I meant spike traps. I guess if you use explosives, at least for now until demo guys come around. I guess there is no point in fence traps, otherwise you would just destroy the fence posts and have to replace them. I made the mistake of firing off a rocket at a group of about 10 zeds with a demolisher in the group and it and it exploded itself right away and did way more damage by having 200% zombie damage on bloodmoons setting going. As far as having the 64 zeds at bloodmoon, its effects are kind of random. I have it at 64 as well and bloodmoons are a lot more difficult, but really random about the tiers of zombies it spawns.

As my late mom said "they are only cheating themselves".

I always have a lot of respect for anyone who served in the military. I lost my right foot in a state hospital in 1998 and have been on survivors/medicare ever since. This is the only country where I would be able to have this help.

Hope all works out for you.

Just had the 35th hordenight and finished reparing and loot collecting. In the previous hordenight I was still in my crafting basement under the fighting position wich made them attack the back of my base. This caused the loss of 30% of the electric fences and a lot of repairing. To prevent this from happening again I finaly tried a forcefield to lead them to the frontdoor.

It worked.
Most boring hordenight in the Wasteland ever and not a lot of good loot. First time in a long time my M60 lasted all night without repair, inspite my first and last bladetrap being out of order due to wrong wire. Very low damage to the base at all. At gamestage 1290 and level 209, not sure I want to keep going till lvl 300 if this is the curve of the game.

I'm going to rebuild an experimental base on a high tier Wasteland POI, that project was abbandoned since I kind of F'ed it up. When the chunks reset I'll see if that's making it interesting again.

Why not create your own base. I only use a poi early in game to have the basic storage and workbenches and things. Then I build a super simple horde base. Then I expand my horde base and have a underground bunker for crafting and storing. I like to have my later bases to be both horde and storage/crafting. Just having one base makes it easier to do things without going back and forth to 2 bases. I never worry about the screamers or wandering hoards due to my electric fence posts and spike traps.

What I do is put the fence posts behind a concrete wall in a room with steel hatch doors to repair them. This keeps them from being destroyed. Except in later bloodmoons when they do take some damage.

but now that I know what happened to me back in 1987
Its funny you should mention 1987. Please do not take this the wrong way, please. I have been in a permanent Psychosis since 1987 to present. I have had things going on that most people would have committed suicide over if they experienced it the themselves probably earlier on in 1990 or something. psychological and emotional torture is not really fun to say the least.

My current base is somewhere in no mans land in the Wasteland. It is a groundlevel corridor with electric fences and vertical headcutting bladetraps and a balcony around it to shoot zeds and do repairs. At the end I've went underground and created an underground craft basement.
Looks like we're doing roughly the same.

The next project was supposed to be not in a POI but on the premisses of a high tier POI, to boost the lootstage a bit. I choose the Shotgun factory but demolished too much of the basement so I lost the lootstage boost. That's why I'm waiting for the chunk reset now.

Sounds a bit like one of the Guns Nerds & Steel videos.
