How far have you gone this playthrough?

OOOps! I just saw a typo, and I am to late to make an edit. I didn't play till 1902 hours in game, but my time. In game, it is just 0455 hrs.

I failed to keep my points on track, strictly speaking, but 4 points in my strength attribute, 4 points in miner 69 perk, and 3 points in mother load perk, and one in pack mule (I know, I know, if I could have just spent that point in mother load instead...Shakes head sadly), and that one point spent in the fortitude perk tree "Siphoning Strike" covers my point usage.

In my defense, I get hit alot, so having health from each zombie I kill keeps me going. Lvl 4 Miner 69'er got me to level 4 stone tools by the morning of day 3, and while I only get 35 clay from each block of topsoil produced, it is still a 2:1 conversion rate from spending 16 clay to make a topsoil block, and then digging it back up for 35 clay. Level 4 mother load raises that to 39, and at level 5 mother load, 44 clay is the return.

My base is just 4 block high walls at 0455 hrs in the morning, but by tonight, I want to have the full 7 block height, along with the enclosed crafting base and the elevated walkway.

As far as the commercial forest reserve/hedge goes, I hope to have at least the E/S/W sides planted by tonight day 3.

I'm actually a bit tired, so further gameplay will have to wait till after my next nap, lol.

Day 4, 0429 hrs.
level 16, 122 kills.
Quest progression 6/10.

Base wise, I did get the commercial forest reserve planted on not just the E/S/W sides, but the North side, as well. Now I just have to wait for them to get to 900-1200 hp growth, and I can harvest them and start filling in the inner reaches, and have not just a living hedge, by my own "little base in the big woods".

Construction wise, I didn't quite achieve what I had planned/hoped for. On day 3 I had this:Roof day 3.jpg
I was standing on the top of my 4 block high wall, and the building is under construction.
On day 4, I have achieved this:
Roof day 4.jpg
Unlike last game, I didn't wait till I had achieved tier three quests, I just ran in and started going for those much sought after seeds. Of course, I first got a callback from my ISP, which lasted over an hour, and had me talking to 5 different folks, but I did get my phone number and email address updated to my current info. Has anyone ever heard of a company that doesn't allow their customers to just pay many months ahead on their bills? I wanted to pay the rest of 2026's bills, and the software kicked my payment out. The last guy offered to put my payment through himself, but I didn't feel comfortable having someone else being needed to pre-pay my bill. Anyone else have an ISP that does this?

After I got done with that guy (I didn't prepay my bill), my groceries arrived, and then Life happened, lol.

I did manage to get lvl 2 LOTL, and I need to get that to lvl 3, before I harvest that corn. I got 4 Dew collectors, all up top of the roof, and one of which has a Gather mod, so water is not yet a thing, but it is getting there.

I managed (Just barely) to unlock Forges, and have two up and running, along with 4 cookfires. The fires are not maxed out.

The view from my lower causeway, overlooking my ladder/enternece:
Ladder and causway.jpg
When completed, the causeway will extend 4 blocks all around the tower/crafting base, both at the 7 block height shown here, and the (as yet) unbuilt upper causeway at the 12 block height.

I wanted to show how I try to keep track of my quests, so I learn where things are, from one playthrough to the next. Here are 3 I did:

Once I started doing this, it became way easier to remember places I had been.

Point wise, my strength is 5, both Miner 69'er and Mother load are lvl 4, and Pack mule is lvl 3. Siphoning Strike remains lvl 1, and LOTL now has 3 points into it (lvl 2). That is about it. Thanks for reading, and if anyone has thoughts on what to invest in next, feel free and chip in.

Day 5, 0557 hrs.
Level 20, kills IDK.
Quest Progression 7/10.

Unlocked Iron tools, have lvl 2 Iron tools in use. Crafting base is up, Horde Night base has not been started. Forest is 900 hp trees. I want the 1,200 hp trees, but seed wise, there is no difference.

Anyone other than me, wish there was a way for planted trees to grow bigger than wild trees?

Right now, 1 seed trees have 300-600 hp, while a 2 seed trees have 900-1200 hp.

What if, planted trees could grow bigger?

3 seed trees could have 1,500-1,800 hp maybe?
4 seed trees could have 2,100-2,400 hp?
5 seed trees could have 2,700-3,000 hp?

Personally, never being able to improve my forests by a better margin seems like a missed opportunity. It would be nice to be able to get better at planting/harvesting trees. Maybe plan them in a farm plot? Maybe the farm plot that has a tree planted in it is consumed, but the tree can be bigger/more lumber/seeds. Kind of interesting to think about.

I'm done playing for the day, we will have to see what tomorrow brings. What are folks thoughts for how to play out day 5:

1) Exploration?
2) Questing?
3) Fortifications/Horde Night Base?

All I have done, so far.
Cobble is a start and if you are active in bloodmoons, meaning if you have openings on the second level of your base (like widows) to use spears, and also keep cobble on you with your stone axe to repair when the cobble is getting beat down. A few clicks and you can keep the cobble from getting smashed in. I would suggest wood spikes around the outside of the base, this allow the zeds to get stuck and headshots are a lot easier.
My base is just 4 block high walls at 0455 hrs in the morning, but by tonight, I want to have the full 7 block height, along with the enclosed crafting base and the elevated walkway.
I know it is much easier to survive on blocks higher up platforms with some of the platform reaching out to attack the zeds at the walls, but earlier on you really should stay at ground level and use your spear. When you go concrete then you can use your upper platform to rain down attacks. But this requires you have ranged attacks, so you may be on ground level for 3 or more bloodmoons. Although do upgrade your walls with concrete as soon as you can, and if steel is possible this will last quite a few bloodmoons.
Once I started doing this, it became way easier to remember places I had been.
Good Idea. I also label my temp storage boxes as storage on the map, so I can get home and go back to the storage without forgetting where they are. There is boatloads of uses for the map, like mines, building to raid, where the candy machines are and so on.

I think that the finished quest location re-spawn zeds after a while so that is something to keep in mind.
I'm done playing for the day, we will have to see what tomorrow brings. What are folks thoughts for how to play out day 5:
But at day 5 you need to build your temp base for bloodmoon and forget quests and scavenging. You need a base to keep you from being overrun of day 7.

After which I suggest wrenching cars as soon as possible. Mechanical Parts, a stack of 1000 is 8500 dukes, same for Electrical parts. Plastic is 4500 for a stack of 1000. They are easy to get without needing the wrench and the plastic parts are even easier to get from tires on the road and anything plastic without needing a wench.

Also the engines scrap down to 30 Mechanical Parts when you start getting boatloads of engines form cars. You can also wrench things like lights and electric panels on buildings for electric parts.

Also, when you get a forge and have ranged weapons you should put up iron bars to shoot through. In necessary locations the upgrade the bars to steel.

And please try electric fence posts as soon as you can. When the zeds are getting zapped, headshots are way too easy. Bob may have a generator and an engine can come from cars, or just buy a couple, also bob usually has electric fence posts early on and a wire tool is easy to get.

This the first day seven base that was in cobble with no bars that I used to use my spear. When I upgraded to steel after a couple bloodmoons it did quite well for a while

Died on day 17 and started a new playthrough playing permandeath.

What killed me was 5skull POI that had 4 radiated soldiers in the main loot area. First time I had seen a radiated zombie and 4 of them came at me at once. I only had a lvl 3 iron spear as my main weapon. They did me a fav and ended it quickly. lol

Still trying to get all challanges, finaly got lvl 200 at day 238 with 22k kills. Animal challanges are the only few I still have to do but tracker is very unreliable, specificly with the green animals...

Knowing myself then lvl 300 will be the next target 🫠

My condolences. Do you use the game setting, or just restart from scratch?

Sound good. I am stuck in v2.4, but the animal tracker seems fine. Is the v2.5 buggy?

Edit:
I'm waiting for my delivery driver, and then I'll have to put away the groceries, but will resume play afterwards. I'm trying to get to at least the morning of day 7, most of my HN Base is built, but still needs some work.

On PS5 the tracker is sometimes working good, then suddenly animals do not apear on radar but visible on maps. Or it is on radar but not showing the icon on the animal it self, not even while tripping over it. Or it is just a short flas when aiming at it. Before 2.5 I did not see this behaviour and I made several in-game bug reports. Had my hopes on 2.6 to get it fixed but it is a bit silent about it.

Day 7, 0240 hrs.
Level 26, 188 kills.
Quest Progression 7/10.

Had some chest pains and dizziness, going to lay down and take a nap.
