Game freezes for 1-2 seconds every few minutes

Been having a very annoying issue lately where the game will freeze for 1-2 seconds every few minutes. It was fine before and can't say for sure when it started or why.

It happens in both single player and when playing with a friend (he is hosting).

Initially I deleted all saves but my current one. No change.

I copied the GeneratedWorlds, Saves, and SavesLocal folders (C:/users/<username>/appdata/roaming/7daystodie) to another location then uninstalled and reinstalled the game. I deleted every folder related to 7 Days.
Then I started the game and closed it.  I copied the 3 folders mentioned above back into the directory to overwrite the exiting files.
This did not help.

Game was on 1 SSD so I moved it to another SSD.  no change.

All drives have tons of space left (at least 299 GB of free space).

I was playing with most settings on medium. I even lowered all settings to lowest and still had the issue.

I haven't just deleted everything and start over from nothing yet.
Since it's both local and multiplayer, it seems weird.

I haven't noticed issues with any other games, but I don't really play much else currently.

My PC:

Windows 10 Home

Intel Core I7 8700K 3.7 Ghz
32 GB DDR4 RAM
Sapphire Radeon RX 5600 XT

800 mbps cable internet

Hmm typically this is during asset loading/unloading or saving, drive speed for the save folder (game install folder on a fast drive matters, but where your saves are located matters a lot too) typically matters a lot here, as well as RAM speed. If you could, post a log to pastebin, it'll have timing information and maybe something else is going wrong.

I just did the clean game data option under the launcher and had it clean (delete) everything and tried to start a new game. I noticed that I get a very slight freeze in the menus also as I was setting up my new settings and new game.

Everything is on an SSD.

Will try to play a bit and see if it happens still.

How do I post a log to pastebin?

Just copy the entire log file and make a new "paste" on pastebin, just make sure it's set to either public or unlisted, and set the expire timer to something longish. Ctrl+a selects all to make it easier

Here is a link to the logs from last night when playing with my friend on the game he hosted on his PC. It was like a 2 second freeze then

Here is a link to the logs from just now playing single player.  Did all the initial challenges and went to the trader, got my 1st quest.  It was still freezing but maybe for only half a second. Not as bad as last night.

Thanks!

So I just got done playing about 2 hours with my friend (he hosted again) and I didn't notice any freezing at all.

Will have to try some more single player tomorrow and see what happens.

Nice! I would like to point out that you have a mod that's pretty old (made for A21), and the connection is failing to connect via Litenetlib, which is the ideal MP method. Forwarding the port the server used + 2 UDP and server port TCP (default: 26900-26902 UDP and 26900 TCP) will help with that.

I'm don't remember installing a mod.
I checked mods folder and found 2 folders in there.

1 is 0_TFP_Harmony and looking that up, seems like that is supposed to be there and is part of the game.
The other was some kind of backpack buttons mod. I deleted that.

Is this comment part of the mod thing issue?

If not, what is that and what does it mean?
I know port forwarding is but what is Litenetlib?  My friend hosts the game on his PC, it's not a dedicated server.

If it's a multiplayer thing, why would it affect my single player game?

Litenetlib is, generally speaking, a method of connecting to a server or P2P host (your friend here). It requires those ports to be forwarded, in most cases, and if it fails then it'll use Steam Networking, which is reliable but will add a very high latency (likely upwards of 100 ping or higher in some cases). If they aren't forwarded properly (or a firewall/antivirus is getting in the way) then you still see that message in your log file (well, and the host's too).

It doesn't have anything to do with the mod, and no it won't affect a singleplayer game. It just makes multiplayer connections faster/smoother.
