The spear probably has its advantages, but I tried to play with it a long time ago and I really didn't like it then. Previously, the spear didn't have a power strike, but a throw. It's very unpleasant to be left without a weapon after it, especially if the target is not dead. I didn't like it then and I never picked it up again.
Club. Used it often. If you initially pump up strength, then it's a very good weapon without serious pros and cons.
Sledgehammer. Very long delays between hits. Great damage, but if you miss it becomes very painful. I didn't like it.
Brass knuckles. A very interesting weapon. Fast strikes, and the steel knuckles completely replace a knife when cutting up carcasses. With it, you get hit more often than with a club, but the Pain Tolerance skill levels this out. Plus there is beer, which can temporarily strengthen you. In my opinion, this is the best weapon.
Stun Baton. Not a bad weapon, you can hold back a crowd with it, especially when the knockback is triggered. Overall, it's a good thing, but sometimes zombies fly off unsuccessfully, sometimes behind textures. Upgrading medicine improves it quite a bit (10% instant death), but you still have to hit a lot.
Knives. I haven't tried them, so I won't say anything.
Each weapon is good in its own way. And with brass knuckles, bears were scarier to me than wolves. Wolves rarely broke anything, and they are stunned the same way as bears, but they have less health.
