Good sir, I have yet to hear that TFP is going to revisit the temperature system.
Are you saying that they are aware that the system does not work well in it's current state - as a spokesperson for the company - and they are going to change it? Or are you just saying that in your opinion there are bugs with the current system?

I guess until we hear otherwise, we can only assume that weather isn't going to be changed to be more realistic, and thus it's a valid point of reference for the discussion at hand.

Umm, I would like to hear the answer to the weather issue as well. pls and thanks!

Here’s an official answer. It’s still WIP. A big factor in temperature survival is how they plan to overhaul the buff system. The details of that I will leave for Madmole to explain but the general answer is that temperature survival is not in its shippable form and they will revisit it.

It's not for everyone. I get that. The bar just shouldn't be characterized as something that is necessary to see or to check in order to function.
On this we agree. However, that statement applies not at all to whether the current system is a better system. It's not.

I snipped your other points because they don't address the immersion aspect either - they are ways you've figured out to overcome the handicap of the current workings. Most of what you list people do already, or simply don't apply because of their game settings (eg eating food to top up before leaving for the day) or situation.

I'm guessing neither one of us will change our stance on this, so I'll leave off.

Wasn't weather more or less okay until MM broke it fairly recently? Then they listed as fixed?
Nah, it's still has issues. It's still got that 31 degree change every 3 in game hrs + what the biome is set for. ppl just don't notice it as being broken since they slowed down the change rate of the players core temp. It's the global temperature and it's set (for whatever reason) to have that 31 degree swing. They just need to have that set as a constant value 70f/28c and let the biomes control the swing changes. Along with the other weather survival calcs. (imo).

Just in case someone wants to:

Its a simple test that anyone can do to find out.

Set a biome to "0" for both min and max. travel to that biome.

note the players temp.

initiate the 'dm' hit f8 twice to see the temp changes on the fly.

(this will be + or - a few degrees from 70f depending on your elevation).

speed up the time till you hit day2 to get past the 24hr safety time for the temperature.

(don't skip the time, just fast forward or you'll mess with the calculation times a bit).

then watch the temp change every 3 in game hrs.

Glad to hear this! Thanks!

That’s been said by Madmole before....it’s not exactly breaking news. It’s just been awhile since he said it.
We all know how this stage of the cycle goes. Any news is breaking news.

From what I can see, every disagreement stems from 2 sides. Those who don't want to have to mod something in and those who don't want to mod something out. I am saying this because it all seems to be about stuff that can be modded in or out. It is #howisgoldvanillareallygoingtobegate...annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd begin heated discussion.......

When we finally get steam workshop for mods, won't it be as easy as subscribing to a hud mod? Or will this game not work like that?

i gues yes, but you cant have 2 mods that edit the same xml`s
There is no good reason to edit the XML anyway. Depending on how things are configured by TFP, each mod would have its own XML that are read and applied, these may add, subtract or modify previously loaded configurations from the base game or other mods, it becomes an issue of loading order. Depending on how complex things get it may need something like the Mod management systems that people have created for Skyrim, others. If it is expected that people are going to be creating a large number of blocks the current specifically assigned numbering system (block-id, item-id) will break very quickly. It may be that it is a temporary thing anyway, or there fore alpha release performance things.

what if with every passing day infections increase across the board. Day 1 a very rare chance of encountering a feral zombie, and your chances increasing every day until on some day they are all running and radiated...unless you knock them back and stop the infection.

You could tie that in to the 7 day hoards, if you are able to knock back the infections, it reduces the occurrence of the 7 day hoards, possibly not remove them completely.
