a) The people I have met in my travels adjust to their playstyle accordingly - builders plop between cities keeping travel distances low and make due with the backpack as is. Scavs either set shop in POIs and keep several bases all around the place.I know this might be an never ending Story^^
b)Fair point, but clutter is good for survival/scavenging games. These items all have uses important or not. Terraria comes to mind. You can go insane with the amount of blocks, items, weapons it has and You pack is limited there too. It's almost like a mechanic "Loot it or leave it" Prioritise what You need now vs what You would need later and the backpack becomes balanced.
I understand Your concern regarding Lags, rubberbanding and so on. Here's in hopes it will be fixed eventually.
Yes, a good point! Or for example Far Cry 3 - You need certain items to create upgrade modules for Your pack in order to increase the carrying capacity for Loot, Ammo, Medical items, weapons etc...
It is a controversial topic at this point, but discussing it is good.
