Very bummed to see the invincible tree issue seems to remain in b221. For the group I play on a dedicated server with, this has been the single most game breaking bug.
Hold on...

You've been joined here since the random leg breaking bug, the caves that would suddenly collapse below you, the random building collapses, terrain Doritos, un-destroyed distant terrain tiles and zombies that just stood around after you killed them. You're choosing _that_ as the most game-breaking bug?

Mess around in the xml's, I'm pretty sure it can be done. Set the maximum zombies spawned to high but the maximum number of zombies alive at one time to low. You _should_ then get the zombies spawning as a trickle all night.
Can you point me in the direction of how to safely edit xml files? This would be my first dabble into them.

Maybe TFP could make it a setting similar to adjusting all the walk speeds?

lol. Sorry, I should say is currently the most game breaking bug. I've been around since the early alphas and there have been many game breaking bugs before it. This is the one that is currently preventing us from playing.

Ok thanks. I think I just found it anyway. Worst case, I can just re-validate the files through steam if I completely break it!

 
What the hell are you playing on? I'm getting 40-50fps at 2560x1440 with max textures and most stuff maxed except tree LOD, water and shadows. I do get hitching/stuttering though. At 1920x1080 I can max everything except trees and locked at 59fps.

I've never gotten anywhere near that frame rate at that resolution. Probably about half that with (mostly) medium settings, at best.

Then again I've got a GTX 1050 Ti.

Still, that's not a terrible card. I'm sure many other people who play games have worse, and I've been able to get much better frame rates on other Unity-based games with the native 2560x1440 resolution.

EDIT: That came across as more complain-y than I intended. The solution is to lower your resolution, then most lag/stuttering issues are fixed. At 1600x900 resolution, I can max out pretty much everything else, and get at least a solid 40 FPS. And even at that resolution, it still looks prettier than A16.

My only point is that there are still lots of optimizations to make before A17 stable. I'm sure TFP are working on it, and I know this stuff is not trivial.

1070 has a 256bit bus, 256GB/sec

1080 has a 256bit bus but is using GDDR5X, 320GB/sec

So its where it should be in terms of performance.

 
Yeah... They used new mechanics/texture streaming, and probably counteracted the positive gains. Probably went very negative with their gains.

GT 840M. Which could play A16.4 very well.

I think TFP need to increase their minimum hardware requirements.
I have GT880M, Frankly FPS is just 20 with everything min, but It doesn't lag for me, I love to see better graphics some day. but game is still playable... A16, the lowest graphics are not so much playable, but this version one lowest is playable.

BUS speed is just one thing, the game doesn't lag on Bus speed on 1050, but since it has lot more data to process hence it need high processor, BUS speed is related, but not main cause of slow processing.

 
Okay, I know it cannot be consider as BUG hence I am not submitting it as bug report, but I feel I should inform developers. So, I have a Navegame started in B199, and now when in B221, I go to Trader, pick a Quest, they give me the quest in Dierville, I go to that house. And Zombie spawn produce error. The Quest was simply Clear z, But since no z spawn. I was able to loot all building without any resistance. Then I quit game, start it again thinking it might fix issue. But It allow me to restart the same Quest [as I never leave building before].

Now, I am not sure if it is Error beause of old game running on new logic, but If I am playing SP and close game in between Quest, it should not allow me to restart that quest on relogin. Plus in case there is an error of spawn, how do you handle quest in that case? because I feel if spawn code produce error, than the quest should auto failed ? But that doesn't matter, I loot same building again before I remove that quest. Will see if I can do more quest later, or have to restart world.. ah I was so close of getting my first Gyro..

I know, and that is what my first line was about, but the thing is these error can came in with say because of mod or some installation issue. I believe they have some sort of check where quest won't get reset on restart? my question is if I play new game, and I close my SP in between quest, will it reset ?

If you mean "it" in terms of cards, then sure.

But I wasn't really replying due to the card specs. It was more the "what the hell are you guys using?" part of the post. As if most gamers have closets full of GTX 1070 cards that they can just pop in to whatever computer is handy. (Some might, most don't.)

It was also about performance in A16 vs. A17, and A17 vs. other games. A17 clearly loses in the performance department against both - I know this from experience.

...Still, I don't want this to sound like an attack on TFP. A17 is still experimental, and as I said, even at lower resolutions it looks way better than A16.

 
Stamina while mining w Iron Pickaxe, lvl 20. Feels much better to me now, thanks for the tweaks! :)

Also, either rn-jebus is being kind or Glue/Duct Tape is more plentiful? It's a good thing either way :encouragement:

Liking the ramp up on wandering horde size. Think I got about 9-10? day 12, with a low 40? GS.

Did two of the redone Dock POIs, at both I managed to sink the z's Battleship! :D On one just took the gas barrel, kablooy. At next, the Haulwell I wrenched the satillite dish and she sank. The boat with overhead crane survived having her gas removed.

In the Haulwell POI, at the end I couldn't get off the downward ladder to continue. But ladders have been a bit weird; don't think there's any issue with the poi.

 
So are there any plans to make gold, silver and diamonds useful other than to sell? Just curious because I have heard any talk about it. Even to make some bling to wear would be cool. or to gold plate weapons....or rims for the vehicles. Yeah I know it's the apocalypse, still would be neat.

 
I think, that many peoples who enjoy the game, are simply playing the game. Some of the community who is not happy with changes spend here on forum more time then in a game, and thats why, reading the forum, can give the impression, that the changes are all bad, and the game is worse. I am really enjoying A17e. I am playing since A3, and for me this is by far, best balanced alpha. Of course, there are still bugs, but hey ho, its a process. For example, yesterday I was fighting with wolf, and he should killed me, he was close enough for too long time, but he didnt, I have killed him with iron club. In A16 I would be dead already. I am sure it will be polished though. So far I am really happy with A17e, good job Fun Pimps!

Diamond tools or weapons should have way more durability, but I am sure mods will take care of that kind of content.

 
Just died twice in one exploration to zombies with the new nightmare night running setting. Keep it up pimps. I don' think I died twice in the game through 85% of A16!

Your concern is right to one point, but Been an experimental, we cannot really have a say on performance for two reason:

1. In Experimental build they may have more logs been generated that slows down overall computation.

2. Since they rewrite most code, it is about new game from scratch as they built new framework. So it is still not optimized.

And most of all they new it, and they are working on it.

I am playing on an old save from last update... think that is the cause? Is there any way to revert it, I'm on day 28 :(
