There's still plenty of optimizations that can be done to the core mechanics, worry not.

That being said... who's bright idea was it to add pbr textures to a game that already has frame-rate issues? They're not doing anyone any favours.

I notice hunger drains like crazy when mining/gathering. I guess that is so that Slow Metabolism will have a purpose now and there is a reason to go above 1/5 Master Chef before lvl100. And the vending machine companies obviously want a piece of our pie, I guess. :p

16fps even playable ????? Omg I become a nervous tick when the game falls under 30fps. (Which it does at every exciting moment i.e. POI areas).

It's come to the point I have to make it look like 8bit game and gimp the settings enough to manipulate the laws of sub playability.

I beg to wonder that at this stage of development at A17 if there was a way to speed up the game mechanics it would have already been done by now.

Which worries me that the game will suffer in the long run if we can not maintain at least 30fps throughout under stress without having to resort in making the game into a wire frame version of pong.
Yeah tell me about it. A16 I was able to play with 30-40 fps on my usual resolution and settings. Now I have to drastically reduce the resolution and lower some of the settings to stay above 15 fps.

So yeah.. Performance on A17e is pretty poor for many people.

which is odd since one of the reasons stated for a17 taking so long was for performance gains of new unity build

What the hell are you playing on? I'm getting 40-50fps at 2560x1440 with max textures and most stuff maxed except tree LOD, water and shadows. I do get hitching/stuttering though. At 1920x1080 I can max everything except trees and locked at 59fps.

GTX 1070

Yeah... They used new mechanics/texture streaming, and probably counteracted the positive gains. Probably went very negative with their gains.

GT 840M. Which could play A16.4 very well.

I think TFP need to increase their minimum hardware requirements.

Yes they should do this. Reports indicates that lower-end Specs are having a really hard-time, while recents ones have very good performance.

Until the middle of the year, i had a very old computer and it was a miracle if i could play this game at all. I put it aside until this year when i got a 1070 GTX and a whole new computer. Now i'm having no issues at all.

If they keep improving this game, lower-ends will be forced to upgrade and it's normal. This type of game is obviously very hungry when it comes to specs.

So I built a little mining tunnel at bedrock. I go down there some nights to gather mats. Every time (even when I am mining far away from my entrance) When I slowly climb the latter to get to the surface, there is Feral, or Zombie Bear or some other special waiting there for me right by the hatch. lol Nice one devs, at first I nearly ♥♥♥♥ myself because I popped my head out to see the zombie bear charging towards me (ran off the aggro and slowly pistoled him to death) Good times.
Stamina useage improvements for mining is very nice. 2/5 sex rex, 2/5 miner69, 2/5 mother load and its comfortable to mine efficiently with good yields using normal attack. (iron tools with 2 mods and im 5 shotting stone and can mine quite awhile without stopping)
i never leave mine entrance unsecured. make it in your home base or surround it with cobblestone wall and row of spikes. better safe than sorry ;)

That would generate a lot of salty posts as people are suddenly unable to play a game they've already paid for.

With a decent amount of optimization the game _should_ be playable on a modest computer. There have been some design choices which, although easier to implement, haven't done the speed of the game much good. For example, the AI changes were supposed to limit the stutter due to recalculating the route, this has been replaced by a system in which the greatest bottleneck is also recalculating the route.

It would be great if us modders would have a triggered_effect action ModifyProgression

Code:
<triggered_effect trigger="[any]" progression_name="attStrength" action="ModifyProgression" operation="add" value="1"/>
that would permanently change an attribute, skill or perk level.

Supported operations: set,add,subtract

The 1070 GTX is a 500$ GPU. Performance of the game was never good current state of experimental is even worse.

I can play battlefield with high settings in full hd at 60+fps, thats on a 64 slot server with a lot of ♥♥♥♥ going on.

Current build of 7days runs with with lower resolution and low to mid settings at barely 30fps with nothing going on.

Looking forward to the performance optimizations MM mentioned. Some details would be nice.

No.

People with minimum specs CAN play. They just have to accept that minimum specs means minimum graphics settings.

As long as the game loads and plays at 640x480 with everything off, they have nothing to female dog about.

The problem is, they want to be able to play on the highest settings, like they could back when the game had Minecraft graphics, and that's just an unreasonable expectation.

Just because the games graphics improve doesn't mean their hardware should magically be able to handle it.

Sorry guys, but this is the cold hard truth.

...at least put some butter and sour cream on that potato...

It makes sense that newer (updated) games are going to require better hardware. However, in my case, my GTX 770M and 12 GB RAM are running better with A17 then A16. The graphics are far superior for me. I was surprised, when I first played A17, how clear and detailed everything was. My first instinct was to go in and turn everything right down or my system won't handle it. I was wrong. I don't have anything set to high, but it's set higher then it was in A16. I did have to make a couple of small adjustments but am running a minimum of 30 FPS and attaining 70+ in a few scenarios.

Nah, for me a mine is to gain materials not spend them. Honestly not too worried about any non-player characters in the game and I'm just playing single player testing the new play for experimental. I never put holes under any structure I build unless its clearing every block from ground to bedrock. Gaps hurt SI up top.

It's not necessarily graphics that are causing the low frame-rate, although pbr isn't helping that at all.

I still get stutter on my gaming rig. I had the "lowest graphic resetting" bug when I installed the latest build but I'm lazy and just left it at that while I played. If the game still stutters every now and again with a decent graphics card and low graphics settings I'm going to hazard a guess that the bottleneck isn't the GPU.

I second this proposal.

You are complaining about the performance of an experimental ALPHA release. Do you know the size of the Dev team for Battlefield? Do you know how long battlefield has been around? Lower your settings so its playable and find and report bugs. Give feedback on game play and mechanics.

I do not want TFP to waste time on performance issues at this time. I"d rather they work on the bugs and mechanics of the game.

Sickobastard a gtx 1070 is not 500 bucks sorry. Maybe at mining peak yes. Right now they are 200 all day 2nd hand.

I bought 2 gtx 1080 TI for 1100 bucks NEW just before the RTX launch.

It's been said before battlefield is a triple A game with Hundreds of people of the team. How many folks is fun pimps?

If you only want to play on the best settings every game. Then sorry that 1070 will not even do that so you're point is kinda mute. Just enjoy the game 7d2d is not a stunning game graphically so get over it. Help us find the bugs.

Also A17 is optional you can go back to A16 where you had better fps.

or you can wait a bit while they optimize. Remember you have to opt in for experimental, because you're supposed to understand that its under development. I will say though, if your expecting to game on a PC, especially now days, you will need to get some decent gear. 1080 and 1070 is not by any means required, I suggest doing some research on a mid grade card for a good price.

1 Word,

Impressed

Wasn't too into the last build but,

Wow...

After all these Alpha's I finally get what I was wanting for a while now...

A Freakin...

Snakepit
