Faatal, is it possible to make a percentage of zombies not all take the same ai path on horde night? Maybe if a small percentage went for harder blocks it would alleviate some of peoples aggravation of their bases getting destroyed most if not all horde nights. Plus it would spread out the zombies more so they don't just bunch up in one area so players have to move around more to get them.Just spitballing here as I have no idea how any of it works anyway.

I also suspect that pathing bugs are much easier to spot if pathing is NOT randomized and that that is a big reason to postpone random pathing to a polish phase

I think its comical that TFP tried to eliminate base exploits and just made it 100x worse lol
I don't get that impression from the thread. You have to be very careful in A17 to not leave any holes in your design. A16 stilt base on the other hand was absolutely trivial to built, it was very hard to f*** up

 
Server fps is not client fps.
Dunno why the same name is used, but basically server fps represents I dunno, an internal game tick for how fast the server is thinking?
For some reason I get better fps on random gen worlds

There's FixedUpdate() and Update().

FixedUpdate is a regular tick mostly used by the physics engine.

Update is called every frame.

On a headless server the Update() is still called and, as far as I know, a frame is still built but it doesn't have to be sent to the graphics card so that process is inherently faster.

Servers handle data, math, etc. The client (the software running on your PC, not the server) is what renders graphics and has FPS. Servers normally use TPS (Ticks Per Second)... Maybe using processing cores on a graphics card to do math counts as frames?? I dunno, doesn't make sense.

The server can, if necessary, generate camera frames. The difference is that it doesn't normally have to display those frames if it's headless. The Update cycle, although based on framerate, must still be called otherwise 99% of server based games wouldn't work.

 
I haven't tried a17e on my dedi server yet, but a16 even with 3 of us would keep at least 18fps when all of us were on bikes exploring. 22-24fps when we were mostly crafting. And that's a 10 year old box. You running Windows or linux?
A16 used to run with 35 fps man.. now barely half of that.

 
Does XP sharing have a level cap so a level 200 does not carry a level 1? this was a problem in the old days in WOW and they made it so if you are more then a few levels higher you can't share XP or it scaled.

 
@ronald @fataal or anyone who can get my voice reached to the devs the gamma is broken at 200% like you can see at the night more brighter then day light and i am a pvp player and this is hurting the game so much i am 100% sure that no one who play pve will go more then 100% of gamma cuz anymore then that the game will look like crap and unrealstic why does it even exist

please fix it

We just discussed this today. I agree there is little incentive to build vs just taking over a strong building. We have ideas to balance that out, but that will take time. Experimental is not a polished version of the game. Polish takes implementation, testing, discussing and repeating as many times as it takes.
Now that's why I like these forum so much. It's because everybody gets a chance to give feedback and contribute to the game. :)

no i am a pvp player and i want to have a good looking game but i don t want people to see me in the night while i can t see them don t wanna give them advanteg if you know what i mean

I was mostly kidding but you're right. Sadly there are people who will exploit any advantage they can in PVP, I generally play Battlefield for PVP and before that CoD 4 and there were always plenty of people that would tweak settings so they could see you more easily. Personally I prefer to play games at the best possible settings to get the full cinematic effect.

7 days isn't really balanced yet for PVP for a whole bunch of reasons but MM did say he hoped to add some polish in that area but it wasn't a priority at this stage.

Do monitors not have brightness and contrast settings? How is the in game gamma any different from monitor or windows settings?

yes precisely, regardless what the gamma is set or capped to in game.. if a person wants, he/she can change gamma via nvidia, amd, windows, monitor settings or 3rd party programs.

 
Zombies teleporting around is almost always a MP desync or lag problem.
We were both on with local connections with less than a 24 ping, so I don't think that was the issue. Try a horde night on top of the mausoleum and odds are you'll see the same thing. I'd say we saw no less than 15 or 20 zombies replicate the same behaviour. They weren't teleporting... they were knocked down by an arrow, their "ground" animation was 3 blocks below them off the fence, and when they got back up it they popped back up on top of the fence.

Can they be knocked off a block with an arrow, or do they just get dropped to the ground? If they can't be pushed off a block, then that was the issue... their ground detection saw the ground on an adjacent block (or maybe the average) did the fall down/get up animation on the ground not on the fence, and when they righted up, they popped back up on top of the fence.

Wish we streamed so you could see it, because you would see the issue right away.

You can hide the XP bar easily via a modlet. I may have even put one out to do just that.However, the XP pop-out notification from my initial tests was not able to be done via XML only since it would also lose the Item Pickup notifications.

The stealth meter tells you the noise and light you are making now, not if someone detected you. If you hear them coming, you want to stealth walk away. Waiting does nothing but get you found, since they are already coming to where they heard you.
Dying light had a great mechanic for telling you that you were spotted.. maybe that can be added? It played a startling alert sound that would get your heart racing, and a red eye icon popped up. The red would drain down to white as you got further away to escape detection, and if you managed to get away, it would disappear completely.

Second day and most of it has been with the grim reaper buff after a pack of dire wolves also sorted me out good and proper.

Yep, high risk high rewards. Use sneaking, and if you aren't prepared, abandon the quest. Pro Tip: Barbed wire fences are your friend! ;)

That said we went through a tier 1 house yesterday that had 3 spitting cops, 1 feral hoodie guy, and two feral nurses. And we never got back to the last room because at that point it was close to horde night, and we'd already died 3 or 4 times each.

I don't mind tough quests, so long as the reward it worthwhile. I'm hoping higher stage quests pay out good things we need like cement mix, steel, ammo, or various traps and turrents.

Hmmm.. WHY don't we have some 7 Days merch? I'd love a pop! of some of the zombies, or better yet, a bucket o zombies done in the 7 days style!

 
Uuuhh.. I'm a bit lost here. What do I need to unlock nowadays so I can craft seeds from for example aloe or yucca? Got intellect 5 and master chef 3 currently. Is there a chart or sumtin somewhere?
