I haven't noticed any limbs coming off zombies yet, though thought it was because I have not had any decent guns or melee weapons yet.
Please don't tell me we have no dismemberment now ?????
Really hope alpha 17 brings this back and also Skycrappers back to RWG. I notice they take features away often that they once were really proud of and excited for. And then to don't see them anymore. I know things change of course just seem like we've been in alpha for years. :indecisiveness:

 
Armor penalties:

In Creative mod I could not find any combination of mods to reduce to 0 any penalties of on armor. is there something out there or will armor always have some sort of burden like slowness?

 
Yeah man. It's bad enough that Zombies don't scream when you kill them, but no dismemberment? That just takes out all the fun right?

Haha, got to love reddit :biggrin-new: To bad he didn't tell ppl, that there's a good chance they will get placed wrong at times, and the building will crumble and fall, bringing their rigs to their knees for 5-15minutes pending on how bad it got placed.

I hope ppl don't actually bring them in, unless they are actually just testing the new stuff out, and not trying to play an actual game.

 
I really miss the old books aswell. The prospect of choosing & controlling everything regarding progression and knowledge is just something I like way less than actually mixing up choosen progression with random new crafting skills. Some games it took you a while to be able to make a minibike, while sometimes you could actually go straight ahead collecting all the needed parts because you found it in the first few days.

Also, not progressing in specific branches by having a global "level" that grants skills points you can spend anywhere is... bad in my book. Right now, only zombies do give decent xp, so you basically farm zombies if you want to unlock a specific perk, even if it has nothing to do with fighting, like... cooking. But who knows, that last zombie might just have been a cook and you absorbed his energy in a way...

But even if you balance the xp gains from the different actions, it would still be pretty immersion-breaking. Let's just shoot down zombies with a bow until we find a sledgehammer, and invest all those points in melee attributes/perks to be amazing right away... Pulling the bow is better than bodybuilding !

Sarcasm apart, if those two things get fixed, I think i'll be in for a treat for a loooong time. Rest is pretty good, even though AI is probably too one-sided, but I think they are already working on it.

 
I tried to imagine the round table with beer and pizza but my FOV is forced to 65 so I can't fully see it. :)
So uh, has there been any round table discussion about bringing back the FOV setting for A17 stable?
FOV is 70 now

They just did one for B208. Twigg, Dollie, Kumquat, and Hated all joined the same server and streamed for several hours (some more than others). They should have VODs of the streams on their twitch channels. I know Hated did as I watched part of it the next day.

Edit - damn. My reading comprehension is poor. I second the request for Joe to be in the next stream.

 
I just want to say a huge Thank you, TFP! This update was really worth the wait time.

Yes, there are some bugs, but nothing that can't be fixed. You guys have put alot of brain-grease into this. It is really, really hard on insane difficulty with 25% loot. I like it!

But I do have a question: If I equip a firstaid bandage on my toolbelt, hold it and rightclick - it heals me, but I don't loose the item. It only does that at specific health levels. Is this intended? I am not a programmer, and I don't feel smart enough to make a bug report on this - if it is one. Maybe a smarter person can check into this?

Yeah, I follow them. Would just like to see unholyjoe playing around with them at some point. If he was on one, I probably missed it.

 
Don't get infected

It seems harder to get infected which is good because the effects are really bad in the early stages.

Stamina drops by 60 pts. You can barely swing a stone ax once before becoming exhausted.

On the upside, health goes up by 20 pts, which is good because your not going anywhere fast (at least on foot).

Also these traits don't show up right away, they take a moment before your stats change.

 
Has there ever been an explanation why they made plants not possible to take with E? That's one of the few changes I don't like in A17, I'm having a blast with it.

If they would remove the reduction to stamina regen and just stick to slowing down movement/ melee attack speed and then add mods to counter that later in the game, I would be fine with armors. Just leave the stamina out of this one, please. It's already enough stamina management in the game.

Or at least have light armors have no reduction to stamina regen. It's the point of light armor to stay agile at the cost of less protection or not?

Have a small bit of experiance w digging z's now. While in general I like the idea, man are they fast atm! Which is in line w their 'built' block damage I suppose.

Main consequence, for me, is that now that I've spent many nights going over perk trees, I don't have much to do but wait.

Someone a few dozen pages back brought this up, and I have to agree w them. Nighttime mining seems like russion roulette w 2-3 loaded chambers; really not a sane idea, heh.

I may not be recalling this correctly but. I think the old stealth system indicated when a z locked on to you, and if you immediately froze there was a decent chance they'd lose focus after a minute or two?

If the new stealth system could incorporate something like that then maybe nighttime mining could be less suicidal?

In expected response :) No. I don't want to hide in a hole to avoid zombies. Yes, I get that this could be considered to be basically that. But really, I just want to be able to do something during the night before I have a solid base perimeter up.

If the Pimps/Players really like as is, okey doke, I'll find a mod or something.

P.s., the first couple weeks nighttime was creepy, had no idea what 'that noise...' was, etc. Nicely done, truly. Then that mostly wore off. Now that I have had a few nighttime horde encounters I know that the cobblestone (1200hps) & wood, forge house I'm in doesn't stand a chance. So I just empty backpack & crouch by the door to the balcony ready to either fight 1 or 2 or simply lead off a horde and die as far away as possible. Which I'm not finding really engaging to be honest. :)

 
Since RWG seems to be having some problems, I've been playing on Navezgane, but I can't seem to find any potato fields in it. I see lots of cornfields, but no potatoes:frown-new:
