Ok so, love the game but the graphics are horrible just horrible all grass is green blobs, birds nests are awful, stones are grey blobs, wood is brownish blobs, really? so since A8 which had better graphics I'm now playing what seems to be like a kids water color painting......sigh and I waited over a year for this gees, and don't ask me my specs cuz A16 was fine...this is just terrible, unacceptable, sorry it just is
Can you post a picture of your video settings? Sounds like it is set to 1/8 textures. If you watched any of the streams there’s proof that the graphics are better in A17.

Thank you guys for the hard work.

I have been with you guys since the beginning and while I do like alpha 17 I prefer playing solo and it's very difficult to play as every POI contains 20+ zombies.

Please, please oh for the love of God don't forget your fans like me and other solo players. 😁

Can you adjust the percentage of zombies based on the number of players?

 
So, I was fisting plants and enjoying an activity that did not drain my stamina instantly and looked down to see 500xp! I haven't tested stamina loss vs. xp gain with anything else, but this seems to be a good way to get xp while stocking up on resources when your stamina is not looking its best.
figured that one out today. dose up on coffee and collect grass and the small trees with stone axe. got more xp in 30 secs than a fetch quest reward where i nearly - very nearly - got ripped up by an irradiated and a feral and a normal in one battle. thank goodness i had an ak and a magnum! zombie loot bags are really worth checking out!

prob an exploit that needs balancing

 
We made a test build for 198 tonight, which testers and devs are looking at. Don't know if that will go public tomorrow or maybe a 199+ later.
faatal All I hope for is that the next build has the respawning sleepers fixed as well as queuing attacks.

Also can I just ask why on earth "use" is now on the same button as "attack"? Every survival game ever has attack on left click and use on right click. This new setup got me killed numerous times already while playtesting A17-E. Maybe just make it an option in the controls?

Allow more than one function to be bound to a single key and make "USE" a seperate function. Thats an easy fix that should allow people to play however they like. Forcing this left click use on people is awful. Like, I have 1.2k hours on steam in 7dtd with right click to use items. There is no reason to change that now. Sorry if I sound upset. But this is one of the instances of changing something that doesn't need changing, to something that deliberately moves away from the standard set by the entire survival game genre.

Also jumping takes Stamina but its possible to Jump without Stamina? What?

 
Are you connected to a server? If so, what ping are you getting?

I was in a single player game on my computer ..... get about 60 FPS

the fun pimps........... you guys have just outdone bethesda for me, im enjoying a17 100x more than i did fallout 76. there are some issues, sure. but reading how alot of peoples games are supposedly not working well,(i.e too many wandering hordes, or too many in poi's etc) might it just be inconsistencies with how rng maps are made?

i am only saying this as my game map has been pretty good so far, nothing too much to handle.

What seed are you playing? I'd love to see if that has any impact on the amount of sleeper volumes. Or are you playing Navezgane.

Please don't troll. They will think you are for real, and they will be proud of themselves and next update will come out in 2020 with GREAT changes such as: new rocks, new sounds, new perks (AGAIN), new stealth system and new stamina system etc. Of course they will add something different so it looks like they are doing something. New wood textures for example. :)
Oh I'm not trolling, I think it amazing that they can get all these changes done and still find time to answer to all these questions here. Of course I have parts of the game that bother me, like the horrible lag in dedi... But I'm satisfied with it enough to pick playing it over other games that are out now. They should be proud of themselves:triumphant: No thank you on new rocks and trees though, the ones in game now are fine as is.

 
Is it me or does it feel that clubs are useless now? There are no reasons to have one after you get a fire axe. It's faster, does more entity damage, has longer reach...
I use my club :p it only takes a few hits and zombies go down permanently. ill probably enjoy having a fire axe too then i guess.

Thx. That is business_strip_old_03. I just speed ran it with the dev hammer. Killing zombies as I followed the path. No spawns happened where I could see them. The zombies that were behind me, were from guys dropping from the ceiling. The last room has about 4 of them in the ceiling. Some don't drop until you make enough noise. The only new bug I found was the feral soldier was immune to dev pistol, hammer and punch damage. He has 50 armor, so something is up with that.

 
I just wanted to say this before i go back to playing.

Thank you TFP for bringing the game in this direction.

It is a refreshing new speed and i'm personally loving the challenge. aside from Optimization and fine tuning and balancing everything out. I personally like all of it. Even having your gathering speed be so much slower starting out. I no longer have end-game stuff by day 3 and that's just great.

Literally have had adrenaline and panicked a little when encountering zombies and that too is just right. very much a "Survival horde crafting game" now not just "Crafting game with avoidable NPC's that groan and growl at you"

i was down to 10 fps on low preset

went to medium and lowered some stuff - most actually

changed res to lowest that fit my screen and fps went to 25+ even inside pois!

thats playable (better than a16 on my rig) so now onto game play while i patiently wait for optimisations in speed

balance and game play...

balancewise i seem to be swimming in guns (not ammo lol)

suppose its back to bows to build up rounds for day 7

Zds seem not that difficult. can normally drop them with 1 or 2 pistol headshots and finish them in no more than 3 body shots as they get up.

magnum headshot roots them he he

level 20 for forge seems a bit rough

for balance, conceptually, more points in making and mining early on would leave you more vulnerable early on to zds and makes quests and scavenging more difficult

but we cant invest totally in preferred bents because of level gates so therefore forced to venture out and constantly fight to level up and therefore have to spend points appropriate to survive (or at least make it amusing meantime)

feels like my game play style is stifled as a result - in comparison to a16

in a16 i could have a forge by 12pm on day 1 and be mining with iron. steel later - no probs.

there has been mention of classes

if classes had lower level restrictions on certain attributes then we could choose before hand how we want to develop our characters and not be restricted early on by bland average appeal to masses thinking...

oh - more importantly - thanks mm and fataal and joe etc for the time you have spent the last few days addressing individuals and their concerns. thats the real point of difference for this game for me.

 
Playing on 100% vanilla settings.
Day 5, got more than 7 Wandering Hordes so far. One of them was at night.. they ate brickwork like cake.. it was gnarly. :f

They even tried to break out the support beams and collapse the roof..

Bit too much in my taste but why not..

One thing that irks me is new animations, swinging for everything is incredibly slow, especially Stone Axe. Miss the old swing rate.
Is there a way to make axe swing faster?

I heard about a perk but can't find it.

hey man, yeh its a random gen map, my brother named it "gloop" i think lol

we are day 7 and we have seen 2 wondering hordes, the 1st one we avoided in the night, the second broke in our base while i was scavenging and had to sprint back as fast as i could lol, i have seen 1 wolf chasing a zombie, 1 dog in a poi i avoided and no specials or anything yet. so it seems stable enough for now.

Well Sleeper spawning is still completely broken tho either way. You kill all zombies in a house or lead them outside, you go back in, there is a completely new set of zombies.

I'm sure the devs are already working on that so not gonna press that part.

But the real gripe I have is that using bandages and drinking + eating food etc is on left click now. Right click is the standard in all of the survival game genre. Why change it? I used right click for over 1.2k hours on steam. Why is it left click now? That has literally gotten me killed a few times already in A17. Its one of these completely unnecessary changes.

 
It must have to do something with different rigs. I'm getting about the same FPS as I was getting in A16 - same settings too. I didn't do a full wipe so all of my settings were the same. They might be a little lower, but I'm usually hanging between 28 and 32 FPS and I have a 3 year old gaming laptop GTX 960m... Nothing fancy, but still decent for it's age.
I did upgrade to a 1Tb SSD from a HDD but that didn't seem to help performance in A16. Maybe harddrive type has more of an influence with the new engine that balanced it out for me...?
Yeah I know both rigs of my friends, and to be honest.. they are crap. ^^

Still, I feel the game plays more-or-less smooth anyway, since the microstuttering is gone! So I don't notice the lower FPS as much.

OMG - I'm only a few mins into a new A17 game, but I can't tell you how much I loved the fact that when I repaired my axe, it went back to the same slot on the taskbar/hotbar. I think I peed myself a bit!

I must have prepared myself about a dozen times for moving the axe/club back in place ^^

Hope you feel better after your rant. This game might never be what you want. The devs might never be able to accomplish what you want the game to be. Just something you might have to accept.

I was playing a game called H1Z1..Just Survive. Put in a good 3500 hours into it. After 3 years it went into MMO heaven last month. I complained about the game on the forums. At the end I realized it wasn't what I wanted to play. I was looking for a man vs zombie/elements base building game. H1Z1 was more PvP shooter than anything else. So I bought this game and realized this is actually what I wanted to play. Maybe this game isn't what you want to play. If it was you'd probably be able to put aside your complaints and just enjoy what it is. You might want to look for another game to enjoy. If this game upsets you so much it's probably just wasting your time.

 
anyone else having an issue that once a party member has stopped using the auger and doesn't even have it equipped, they still sound like they have it running? Only way i have found to fix it was to log out and come back into the game, also when we switch from bow to axe it looks like we are trying to hold our axe like a bow lol
