I've been searching through this forum a bit, and I've seen plenty of comments about various dynamics people like or performance issues people are having, but I haven't seen a whole lot about the skill/level progression change. In A16 (and earlier) many skills improved through their use (i.e. digging makes you a better digger), but A17 seems to promote a system where you can acquire skill in things you may never have even done before (i.e. Leveling up to put points in cooking, even though you've never cooked a thing in the game). For me, this has seriously taken away from the sense of accomplishment you build up over time. Would anyone care to comment? I would love to hear from the dev team about why this change was made.
Oh I hate them both before it was tied to the tools remember stone axe gave you construction exp. regardless of whether you were chopping a tree or beating a zombies head in with it.

Now it seems just here's exp for whatever and spend it however you want but they limited the skills.

I had suggested last year adding more skills and have it tie to what you were doing so if you were chopping a tree forestry skill, destroying blocks destruction skill, etc. things like that ...

Seems it was going to go 2 steps forward from last year, but nope they simplified it and took 2 steps back.

It feels more and more like they are trying to force you into a limited playstyle with the dungeons and skill/level-Walls for everything.

It sure does slow the game down from previous....

Depending on individual playstyles and each individuals time schedules to play this can be both good and bad.

Right now I would have to say it is more bad because its forcing a divide in the game community that was not as bad as previous alphas.

 
The Marksman Rifle, ammo, Night Vision Goggles and some food I got off one zombie helped me get over that really quickly. The +2 Perception sunglasses off another one sealed the deal. :)
Thing is: I want dead bodies. I EAGER them.

 
Might be a RWG bug. WorldGenSeed is what GameName was in A16, you can use arbitrary strings
I will ask Support at Ping, I can only type in #'s & the Default was 1 for Game Seed & you had to use the 1,000 World Size or your Server would not Load.

 
Generating Worlds on a dedicated server is taking very long for 16x16 km :-)

I'm not here to judge! He/She can be anything he/she wants.. A he, a she, a yucca fruit.. I don't care :)

 
Any suggestions for FPS? I can't seem to run over 15 and was consistently 30 in A16. I've tried every combo of video settings I can think of.

 
Once you get the hang of it and get a few perks and find say an iron axe you can really start to slaughter then and gain a ton of XP. I'm almost level 40 on day 13. I like that you actually have time to use each armor tier now, before you'd go straight to the best stuff.
Being Encumbered was a much needed feature, being able to run circles around Z's was a Big Exploit. If you get tired & run out of breath you should have to stand & fight for your life. Got to live the Romero Lifestyle if you want to play 7DTD in my opinion.

 
My first impressions: I've died 6 times on 4 days on nomad dificulty... usually on a16 I do not die on warrior dificulty, when I die, is from falling.

I am upset with it? Absolutelly NO! The game is awesome, the graphics are awesome, the challenges are on a whole new level

but seriously there must have been a reason... doing anything, in open where they can see/sense you or hear you doing something... come on, give us the juicy details so we can all enjoy :)
I had the forge running but wasn't doing anything too loud. The house was buttoned up (no doors and windows all covered) and I was on the second floor just sitting there.

I heard them hitting my spikes and start hammering on the wall so I moved on to the balcony and hid but they (about 10 zeds) busted through and made a bee-line for me.

This was the morning of the 5th day.

 
In the prefab editor, I spawn in and there is only sky, and I can't seem to place any blocks. How do I get started?

 
Ok, I can connect to our dedicated server but for some reason the world never downloads when connected to join the world. Has anyone else encountered this, and any idea what the fix is?
Make sure that you are not using any "invalid" characters in the seed name. Also make sure that the game mode or whatever is set to "RWG" and not "Random Gen". Those are the two things I've seen so far for people that have causes similar issues.

 
with the trader quest bug in effect, what is the console command to flag it completed? as it stands. it says 0 meters to trader no matter how far I travel and no marker. they are looking itno it, but still need it completed to get the skill points associated with it

Lowering resolution helps a bit but that aint a solution .. only makes it more minecraftier .. :D

Well it seems no more playing for me, but at least we had a good run ..

I actually lowered Water Particles and LOD to 50% and FPS got worse. So probably best to leave those alone.

What is Advanced generation for?

I can make 16384 size maps and use it?

Also:

Is there any way to bring the target health bar that was in the game when MM first started streaming A17e?

 
The graphics engine needs a complete restart of the game after some settings are changed.

I had what you're getting. I had assumed closing back to the games main menu was sufficient. It wasn't. Shut down the game entirely, and restart from the Steam UI.

I lowered every setting/turned off those I could and still had 50% fps loss. :( just seems like something is badly optimized within the game.
