Is that... is that a bad thing? D:
Yeah, I don't get his point either. Lol. I thought it was a nice suggestion and maybe something TFP could look into. I know when I see devs, or anyone from the actual company, take the time to respond to reviews it ups my opinion of the company in general. I feel that way about hardware reviews too.

- - - Updated - - -

not a lot of wisdom around here...
1 - the devs are busy. leave them alone.

2 - im sure the owners have pr people (think streamers getting their hands on a17 first) and if they were worried we would see them in action

3 - the game isnt finished yet so what does a review or opinion mean?

4 - any publicity is good publicity right?

5- have patiernce, its a virtue.

reminds me of a joke.

an old bull and a young bull were wandering along one day and crested a hill to see a big herd of heifers

young bull - 'lets race down there and do a few!"

old bull - "no - lets walk down there and do the lot"
In terms of Steam the response doesn't have to be from a programmer. On that forum I would say anyone from TFP could fit the role. I mean it wouldn't hurt to have devs also but not really necessary.

Because many people won't know the bliss that is playing 7 days to die because of some of those unfounded negative reviews. Sure, if everyone first played the game and read the reviews, the idea of letting the game speak for itself would make sense. The problem is that many won't get to that part because of the negative reviews about the devs or moderators, and that's a damn shame.
I wouldn't worry too much. The only people who care about "mean and salty devs and mods" are those who got banned by them. I've read negative reviews for other games where the reviewer said that the game was great but the community and developers were horrible. I couldn't have cared less...lol. When I buy a game I'm not buying to become buddies with other people who made the game or who play the game. I'm buying the game to have fun. I suspect that most people feel the same. Even the reviewers themselves. They won't recommend the game to anyone else but you can BET that they will be trying out A17 themselves.

I responded to the most recent negative reviews that allow comments.

I wouldn't restrict comments to just the negative reviews. A quick, "Thanks for the feedback. Hope you enjoy A17 when it comes out.", even on a good review, would be really nice free(except for time spent of course) advertisement. It's also harder to claim abandonware when the review before yours was replied to by the dev company. :)

Just don't make it look like a form letter. If it sounds like the person replying is just copying and pasting a canned response it would have the opposite effect.

You will be soooo happy to know I fixed the dog and wolf character controller height today, so they can fit through 1m high openings.
Great! Now if you could do that with players crouching please. That would be great. :)

I'm not on twitter so I would not know about the post on twitter. and I'm talking about the blog. for people that don't have time to spend sitting on this forum all day reading for updates. it would be nice to update the blog. a one stop shop for people like me who work all day and just want a place to go look at quick for an update.
So you want busy working devs to take an hour or two out of their day, stop all work and post updates on bugs they are fixing in one spot. So you don't have to go looking for updates because "you can't sit on a forum all day due to work".

Please re-read what you wrote and consider how incredibly rude and demanding that is. Now multiply that by 10,000 and maybe you can understand why getting work done is way more important than spending time typing up official statements daily in a place that's easy for you to find.

Fataal has done just this on a daily basis and should be given way more credit for it.

True, but there is a line. Keep it civil and we can all get along.
For sure man. I like your daily messages about what you've done and what you've accomplished.

And of course there's a line. I would never go so far as calling you guys idiots, and calling the more.. fanatical.. members here circle-*****. That's just not done.

So our relationship means nothing to you? NOTHING?!

I cant underline this enough times. Honesty still gets you banned and posts deleted. :strawberry:

Replying to someone that feels like they are entitled to everything is a lesson in futility. They will never understand and will always be "about me".

now that we have PBR materials, tesselation can be added really simple with very little effort and the unity asset for it is even free.
Cool video. I watched the whole thing with interest. But I have to wonder,

  1. If a game uses this middleware, does the end user playing it need DirectX 11? Because that won't work for people not on Windows.
  2. How's the performance? Rendering a whole voxel game world is of course more taxing than the single plane shown here.

I'm shamelessly copying a reply from MM on Reddit (of all places) of yesterday I just found.

"Guys its getting very close. This build almost feels like a sequel. I'll be showing off the new attributes and perks I just finished in a series of videos very soon. I'm polishing up the new weather survival now."

And another one:

"Yes as far as I know we'll be on Steam workshop. I'd like to be able to add a poi to a list or give it a tag and have it automatically added to the server."

Nice work

Thanks!

I found another reply, a bit farther down.

"It means there is so much work put into it, it feels more like a new game than just another alpha. Smell is gone it was an abstract that was too hard to communicate in a game. All npcs have new AI and pathing. I get 60 fps, upgrade your potato. No audio occlusion. Tons of new content. Hordes are a serious threat now. Brand new vehicle code with real physics. All new sleeper code."

NPC's having AI and pathing... what do those traders need pathing for?? :D

Also, smell is gone? Maybe it's time to update the first post, Roland.

Yeah I was just reading through MM's posts, I should check Reddit more frequently lol

Now if there was some way to automatically grab anything 7D related posted by the Dev's on the various platforms and duplicate it here I could remain being lazy....

Dang it, I've avoided reddit for years because it's too time consuming, but now it'll be harder than ever to resist.
Hehe yeah.. Apparantly MM posts quite a lot over there, by checking his profile.

For example, this response from ~10 days ago

Nobody anticipated this build taking this long, but it is what it is. We're working our asses off and I can proudly say this build finally reflects our vision for how the game should be. Brand new AI and pathing system, all new attribute and perk system, brand new vehicle physics, weapon mods, multiplayer quest system, over 100? NEW pois, all old POIs redone, new physically based shading system and lots of new or touched up game art (wip), new lighting, texture streaming, distant tree rendering system, all new sculpted realistic terrain, much bigger Navezgane, much better third person animations, new combat system with power attacks and new animations, new firearm system, encumbrance system for armor and weapons, light and heavy armor classes, new items, cooking perks, new weather system and grandpas awesome sauce.

I'm sure I forgot a few hundred things, but I hope you feel like the wait was justified when you play it.

* Over 100 new POI's? Nice!

* Is this armor/weapon encumbrance system new? If so.. Nice!

* Armor classes.. Nice!

* I do not like Grandpa's sauce.

Roland.. Will these things be included in the first post? My apologies if they are already there.

See reading that makes me want some of Grandpas Awesome Sauce right now!
