And I'm still sitting hoping for you to reconsider the plans for melee. Having to take a hit to deal one is suicidal. So far it was good. Go in, hit them, they can hit you back but the chance for it depends entirely on your skill. If you come in, hit them, and they just hit you back instantly with no way to dodge it... thats not fun combat. I like playing the chance game. I like taking my chainsaw out on hordenight and just running through the horde chopping it up, always risking being hit in the process but its not "take a hit for every bit of damage you deal" kind of trade. Thats ridiculous. Horde night is still challenging either way. Having to kill radiated zombie cops that basically don't take any damage whatsoever unless you have an AK or a sniper rifle or a rocket launcher, can't chop off their legs and arms, etc.
Every zombie movie ever, people who were attacking zombies were able to do so most of the time without being attacked in return because being attacked in return meant being infected so they are cautious and also the living are faster than the dead (except when the dead are running which the way most players play is only at night).
If you want to make melee more risky, don't increase the zombie hit chance.
Instead add buffs like zombie bite wounds, zombie scratches, etc that all require different types of treatments so those times you actually do take damage, its damage with an aftermath that you have to deal with.
Also as the apocalypse goes on and zombies go more rotten and there are fewer fresh zombies, the chance for infectious wounds should increase (as a balancing factor for the low damage players deal at the beginning; they take hits more often but don't need to face as drastic consequences as later on).
Verify your account in the forums, I had to learn this to, basically you link your account here with your steam account, and you'll be able to see those images. its in your account settings here on the forums. Cant remember exactly how i did it, something to do with connecting your steam account up. Hope this helps someWhy is it I can never enlarge the pics?
Is your screen black? as in, have you been in the game playing before, died and now have a black screen?I know this is off topic but I am having problem running game. for some reason when I load it I get the window and sound but no picture... I have more than then recommended requirements. do you know how to fix?
1. Only weapon mods will be in the first release of a17, but all items (tools and vehicles, don't know about clothing?) potentially support having mods, so they might come in a17.x, or will be added by modders.1.Mods: Is alpha 17 going to have only weapon mods or is there any other stuff with mods?
1.1.Are tool mods and armor mods/buffs planned for A17 /17.xx or is that going to be more of an a18 thing?
2.Is faatal willing to make a18 bandit AI or is it too soon to ask?.
3. What is, in your opinion, the most difficult and changing feature that you have faced in A17 (difficulty level: wife says "It's nothing")?
Roland can you share any pics or news with us? I'm sure we all would love to see!I fixed you up Captain Caveman. You should be good now.
Why do you feel madmole and team is not good enough to do both? Don't you trust them? They are late doesn't mean they cannot take 1-2 hr out to make a video?I am sure most would agree that we would rather they spent time working on bugs, than on making another video.
Programming, like all innovations are just ideas made real.My intuition is telling me an early 2019 release is likely for Alpha 17, based on the last post from Roland. If random-gen isn't even in and working properly, they're a way off yet.
Have a look at thisI am sure most would agree that we would rather they spent time working on bugs, than on making another video.
Let's say MadMole takes 4 hours to plan, record, edit and publish a video. This is just a rough estimate, IMO it could be done in less time.
Now, I am not sure about this estimate, but unless somebody objects, let's consider it fairly accurate. Let's say TFP have 20 people working full time on the game. Which means each of them works 40 hours per week, which amounts to 40 x 20 = 800 man hours per week.
Now let's say MadMole decides to shoot a video each week until the new alpha is released. So he subtracts the 4 hours from the total amount of hours worked by TFP in a week. That brings the total to 796 hours. Which is 99.5% of the time they would have worked without shooting the video.
"shooting a video slows down development" is just an excuse, because it is slowed down by 0.5%. For those wondering what 0.5% over a year is: it is less than 2 days! You could have a video per week for a year, just by waiting a couple of extra days at the end.
To sum up:
MadMole recording a video per week would only slow down development by 2 days over a year
Obviously time is not the only concern for TFP when planning a video.
I was playing on a server but it was my own server and only a couple friends play it beside me. Also its password protected so yeah nobody joins whom I don't tell the pw.Were you playing online?
To me it sounds like very common hacker behavior. They come in and fabricate (hack and/or dupe) stacks of really expensive items to sell to traders to get infinite Dukes in order to buy other things they want or need.
Pretty sure that Madmole the one who makes the videos is a art/visuals dev and not a programmer, so him making a video wouldn't hurt bug stomping at all as thats not really his department I don't think. To be honest I am surprized at the amount of contact the devs make with the community, its actually pretty rare these days. I want A17e bad myself, but it'll be out when its out, for now I am playing something else in the meantime. If they released it with alot of showstopping bugs there would just be even more complaining than there is now.I am sure most would agree that we would rather they spent time working on bugs, than on making another video.
I read that mm is helping to finish off the skill tree so he doesn't just do art things. Its partly his business so probably likes to get hands on in a lot of areas to maximise production(i know i would)Pretty sure that Madmole the one who makes the videos is a art/visuals dev and not a programmer, so him making a video wouldn't hurt bug stomping at all as thats not really his department I don't think. Red Dead Redemption 2 is out Oct 26th. Its just the timing that sucks. I could have gotten my worth of 7 Days before then. At least this way, if A17 is a flop, RDR 2 can pick up the slack.thats the best part! The unjustified overreactions to features that arent finished! Its so fun!
You can also play RDR2 until the full release of a17 hits, that way you skip on experimental and all of its probable bugsRed Dead Redemption 2 is out Oct 26th. Its just the timing that sucks.
