Anyone know what happened to the Flamethrower turret, the "piston"/smasher trap, or the wolf/dog companion? :)

Maybe I missed that in one of the thousands of pages of posts, though I am a bit sad we still don't have the flamethrower trap :D

I just wanted a leg trap to keep my friends close and hold on to zombies or animals. I love the sound it makes (in the game rust) when someone sneaking around steps in a leg trap and bleeds out.

it will be miracle if we get 17e this month
Probably.

Think of the alternative. They rush it out to satisfy those are complaining it takes too long. Then we have game stopping bugs that ruin it for everyone. Those who whined it took too long, they should be finished now and yada yada and we have to wait for all the bugs to be fixed.

Or we patiently wait through the month of September, maybe even October and get a game that when it is released we can play and not worry about clearing out a room, head upstairs to kill zombies and then loot, hear a sound and see five zombies climbing the stairs. Or all the other problems we had in A16.

I'm willing to wait for two or even three months if needed to get the Alpha working right. I'm not talking about perfect, no bugs, but no game breaking bugs.

Play a mod, Check out some other games, read a book. There are all kind of other things to do while you wait.

I thought that leaving a room and coming back with new spawns was a bug. That seems a bit weird and off if just leaving a room and coming back in causes the room to re-spawn. Shouldn't their be a larger area or time for re-spawning not just walking in and out of a room. I always disliked that about a16 but thought it a bug.
Trying to clear a building and you keep getting re-spawns just from going in and out of rooms or floors is annoying. Just reeks of magic pointless zombies. Is their any point to clearing buildings at all then? Lacks a bit of realism or I guess I should say immersion. The idea of clearing a house or building is classic zombie (movie, book, and game type) scenario.
I'm pretty sure it's a bug and will be fixed in A-17... Hopefully.

Now think of real life, where you work for a client and they are getting anxious because it's been a year since they've been able to use their product because it's broken. That client will only put up with so much before starting to complain.

So basically you saying its ok for delays because bugs is just enabling. That there is something wrong with lighting a fire up under dev's asses. Sure, the whiners are annoying, but there are people out there 100 percent justified in frustration, We've watched every other game released at the same time go into beta, and than release. We've seen all those other teams, invest in the game right away, instead of 4 years later with staff.

All i'm saying is your perspective of "oh just let it slide" is just as bad as the whiners. You can't let stuff like this "just slide" no matter hte 1000 excuses you get. That's how you get 25 year old baristas whining the job is too hard and they deserve more money. It's cool you're ok wth waiting, and some of us have no choice.

Play a mod? - why, the AI is game breaking broken

Check out some other games? - sure, but that's like saying check out other girls while your girlfriend is away for work and not coming back.

We want to play the game we were promised during jumpstarter. There is nothing wrong with that.

Read a book? Could you be any more pretentious?

You literally described the epitimy of the millenial attitude, ill do it when i want, i don't care about you, give me your money now. don't complain if i don't put out.

What drive do devs have to finish a game when they've been paid for it already and the fan boys jump down anyones throat that says wtf.

Sleeper code overhauled? /happydance

Hey skippy can can u take 3 deep breathes and repeat after me. "This is early access and I knew I was buying an unfinished product potentially with lots of bugs"

1) At the workbench. It's two tier crafting. You craft the vehicle parts out of components and then you craft the vehicle out of those parts.
In other words...sticks and sharp rocks style crafting.

2) Not yet but the mod assembly interface for it is there so probably at some point and maybe via modding even sooner.
Another curiosity:

once a veichle is placed can you pick it up?

A person once taught me in life that, if you have nothing good to say don't say anything at all.

That being said :p I know A17 will be worth the wait, that is what's holding me over :)

I just know it's gonna be awesome! So I don't see time as relevant, as far as a release goes :)

An AI update could have been pushed out a long time ago without affecting other development. This is the most frustrating part of the dev process for me. Yes, AI has been broken in some specific ways for a long while, but since we only get new alphas once a year, we are stuck with whatever they give us until the next time. At least there is some evidence that it's being actively addressed thanks to faatal...

Hey @ Roland have you been able to do another play test recently?

The posts you did awhile back was nice where you told about your adventures and experience from a17 testing.

I can't imagine you'd need more than the 30mm chain gun.Maybe HE or flechette rockets. Zombies are more of a dispersed soft target so hellfires are... no.
Well... I cant say I'm happy without Hellfire missiles, but one must make do in a post apocalypse world.

Maybe I can slap lawn mowers on the bottom and "land" on some of my zombie friends. Rinse and repeat.

Sense of smell

I don't know if this has been talked about before but in the real world people start to stink after a while. I am thinking that in the game, your character would also have a stink level and the higher the level, the more zombies can sense you. Things like rummaging in dumpsters and trash cans also add to this stink level because those stink bad. To get the stink off, you need to take a dip in a lake or river or maybe have something that can be crafted to counteract it. This might add a sense of realism to the game.

Wouldn't it be the opposite? Wouldn't you blend in more if you started to stink like garbage, sort of smelling like the background. Wouldn't you be more noticable if you were out in the world smelling all soapy and clean. Isn't that the reason you always see people in shows rubbing zombie guts all over themselves so they don't smell "like humans"
