map is cut, a new weapon system.
further delete the zombies and add aliens?

I already archived an old copy of 16.8 on my computer

In A16 you can go away from (0,0) approximately 10km in any direction. This is what is called a radius. The map has a diameter of 20km. This is how an approximate size of 314 sq km was calculated. 10x10 = 100 --> 100 x 3.14 = 314
Kinyajuu has confirmed that the new size is a square map that is 8km x 8km which means a total size of 64 sq. km. 8 x 8 = 64.

So the map will be considerably smaller but more densely filled with POI's. This is better for some playstyles and worse for others. So that is how some people can talk about how it is better and how others can talk about it is worse and nobody has to be deep in anyone's ass. Although, there may be a problem with at least one person who thinks everyone plays the game the same way as them....
Sooooo......it's a square circle 8 tenths the size of of the original circle circle minus the pie? I'm hungry. Feed me the kraken!

Holy $#!7!!!! That's 1/5 of the old size. It's going to be so different! I wonder how this will play with high populations.

On a side note, I'm getting really frustrated reading all the comments of confused people/trolls in regards to the map size....

 
Oooohhh, so now it's re-re-confirmed to actually have turned into a square again and 8,000 total instead of from center. Meaning it's not a fair bit smaller now, it's been shrunk to 20% of its current size? That should go over well.

I'm not worried about it until I play it, and the time I have spent I barely scratched the surface of a random map or two. But there are those....

 
the new map size will be declared after trolland yells out a riddle from beneath is bridge and someone answers it correctly...

the question will not be about swallows

has this game released any content in the past 3 months? or if im reading this right the huge patch comes out sometime in the next month? im just checking in and too many raging teenagers and meme lords to sift through and not enough tylenol to get my solid answers from research

 
The last I heard the new map could be set to a far larger size than the current map by moving the origin point of the player during runtime.

Someone feel free to correct or confirm this... I'm too drunk to argue properly.

has this game released any content in the past 3 months? or if im reading this right the huge patch comes out sometime in the next month? im just checking in and too many raging teenagers and meme lords to sift through and not enough tylenol to get my solid answers from research
A17 is the next version, A16 was the last. Check the beta tab in the game's properties in Steam and you'll see the various versions available. It will probably be about a month longer or more before A17 is released.

Apparently it was a circle with 10 radius and now it's a square of 8 x 8. So from 314 to 64.

EDIT: Also guys remember we can still edit the map size in the files. I guess the reduced size is due to performance for it to be preloaded, but this is just my guess.

 
Uh, it's 8km square, not 8km radius.
The area of a square is edge x edge, e.g. 8km*8km = 64km²
Wow, I guess I was refusing to believe that...

With the jeep, its going to feel cramped.

EDIT: UNLESS, this is to allow multiple maps to be connect together! Maybe with a small radiated zone around each map to keep things interesting.

That would be doable!

Funny thing about an M-16/M4... It uses 5.56 mm rounds, which are smaller than the 7.62 coming out of the AK or sniper rifle, but they're going much faster. Because of this it tends to be better for armor penetration. Likes to tumble through the body, rather than dealing crush damage and creating a big temporary wound cavity. (Bullet goes in, dumps it's kinetic energy like setting off a firecracker under water, but the projectile usually has enough energy to come out the other side of a human target. Human shields aren't great.)
The smaller, faster projectile (5.56 or 556) will punch through undead fleshy targets as it's really meant to tumble and rip and tear blood vessels and perforate organs, rather than impart a great deal of kinetic energy. (So the 556 ALSO has greater over penetration.) They don't really bleed though, so while the bullets will zip through, it won't really do a lot.

However... A headshot is still a headshot. Hitting bone with that much kinetic energy can do 'wonderful' things and might make delicious scrambled brains.

So I might want a 5.56 platform against bandits and players, not so much against zeds. AK is better against zeds, bu tis also very effective against NPC's/Bandits/Players.

Pros for the M-16/M4/AR:

  • Lighter. Ammo weighs less (bigger stacks)
  • Higher accuracy (Due to a number of factors)
  • Over penetration (can go through more than one target, or punch through armor better?)
  • Spawling (bleed chance or higher bleed chance?)
  • Very common design, MANY attachments and parts


Cons for the M-16/M4:

  • Tighter tolerances, requiring more frequent maintenance (faster degradation)
  • Less kinetic energy delivery (less effective against zombies)


Having trouble coming up with too many cons. At the end of the day, an M-16/M4 or similar wouldn't be bad to have. I could see it being added to alter the gameplay dynamic a bit. Though right now the SMG has the highest DPS of any weapon, IIRC. Least last I checked the wiki.

It's only a 9mm round, but with good, accurate shooting it's pretty nasty. (Of course that goes for any decent firearm)

Anyway, that's a small bit of analysis on the subject.
Dude your are killing me man. I was just having some fun, hoping to troll a few AR fan boys. Facts are of little use to gamer's, if facts or logic mattered my first question would be who the hell is mowing all the lawns, where is my gun's of choice for post apocalyptic world 22 long rifle, suppressed 300blk, and 5.7 pistol. If you want to see some thing odd, and vary under rated. Korean made love child of the M-16 and AK47. Daewoo dr200, 5.56 but as reliable as an AK. Only real con I have for it is that its a little heavy.

 
You can't argue real world weaponry facts with gamers and nerds in general...they never listen...

Just like the continued argument of the vastly overrated , weak Katana...to many weabos and fanboys...they

will never listen that the strongest , most advanced sword in history was the Viking Ulfberht which has been studied

The best weapon of the apocalypse is being prepared in a remote location.

Just look at the set up.

Stage 1: (Zero Hour)

1. Over 350 million firearms in America.

2. First time people know it's a zombie virus. Panic hits!

3. The people unprepared (estimated between 90-99%) will loot and some will kill.

4. As order breaks down people will shoot first as they will not yet know the signs of Zombies.

Stage 2: (1 month into outbreak)

1. Depending on the nature of the virus (if you die in any fashion, will you become a zombie?) the worlds Zombie population could be as high as 6 Billion.

2. Europeans, without firearms are badly reduced, but many run into the forests and are still hiding in some building with food/water.

3. China and India's dense populations are almost completely wiped out and "Super Hordes" of tens of millions march across Asia.

4. In Australia they make a sport of Zombies as everything will kill you in Australia, even the insects! :)

7D2D game start: (10 years into outbreak)

In America, the zombie numbers are kept lower, but the threat of other living is high, If Americans can work together, some elements of a new age can occur. But battles between the good and the evil would first have to be resolved favorably.

And THAT, is where you come in: A lone wanderer, not knowing who or what, he is, destined for a greatness no one would have imagined. :)

I dont geht how you guys calculate the area of a circle (the map size)old size was a circle of 10km diameter, right ? so how can you come to the result of 314 square kilometers?

10km/2 = 5km radius

area = radius² * pi

means: Area = (5*5) * 3.147

25 * 3.147 = 78.7 square km was the old size of map

New size means 8/2 = 4km radius ... (4*4) * 3.147 = new size ~50.4 square km

78.7 - 50.4 = the new map is 28.3 square km smaller = we have only 64 % of the old map size.

Next thing: Why can people talk like "its better" !? Sorry but if I take away 36 % of your money, your house ...whatever is that better than before ? - You guys take drugs or are you still so deep in the devs ass that you cant find out ?
Someone has taken 36% of our drugs away....shouldn't we feel 36% better? :D
