I dont geht how you guys calculate the area of a circle (the map size)

old size was a circle of 10km diameter, right ? so how can you come to the result of 314 square kilometers?

10km/2 = 5km radius

area = radius² * pi

means: Area = (5*5) * 3.147

25 * 3.147 = 78.7 square km was the old size of map

New size means 8/2 = 4km radius ... (4*4) * 3.147 = new size ~50.4 square km

78.7 - 50.4 = the new map is 28.3 square km smaller = we have only 64 % of the old map size.

Next thing: Why can people talk like "its better" !? Sorry but if I take away 36 % of your money, your house ...whatever is that better than before ? - You guys take drugs or are you still so deep in the devs ass that you cant find out ?

 
I see people here being confused with how game development works.
99% of the time code is what delays the release of a game. There are lots of bugs and features still being programmed.

Artists don't sit around an do nothing while programmers and designers finish stuff, they keep working. MM can make or not make a thousand videos and it does nothing to the schedule, nor can he fix programming bugs.

Also, programmers on a team are not all interchangeable. Different areas of expertise and different parts of the code they worked on or know. One person may have 20 bugs and another only 5 left for a release. The one with 5 does not automatically, when his are fixed, take ones from other people, since they may be in a complicated system, he does not know.

If so, how should this effect the performance in a positive way (like it was told) ?

If you put the saved terrain voxels back in as a building or whatever it wouldn´t work.

I dont get why they dont let the player select the map size and give recommendation based on the servers hardware.

 
Keep in mind that up to* is quite broad.
Vulkan and DX12 api's benefit in cpu bound situations more. The more cpu bound you are (lower end devices) the more benefit you will get from those api's.

I think the bigger thing is the SRP batcher.
Yes, but a Tower of Time gamer was getting about a 33% increase in FPS with Vulkan on an older version of Unity3D when it was still experimental (so a few levels had some minor bugs), so that's very promising when you compare their OGL cores vs. their new Vulkan core so we'll probably end up seeing something similar with 7DtD. Would be great seeing Vulkan vs. OGL cores on Linux, Vulkan vs. the DX cores on the Windows side, and vs. Metal core on the Mac side. At least, I think Unity3D is using Metal instead of wrapping around Vulkan with MetalVK.

Yeah the SRP batcher improvement will be cool. :3

You can still play at any size you want. They just reduced the default size.

Probably just Steam checking something or you are trolling. Had a check like that before.

Even though i have no idea about coding or ai i always appreciate you commenting and explaining things. You are quite well versef in explaining changes. At least for a noob like me. Thanks for your hard work.

1. the radius of the map is now 8k. Before it was 10k.

2. that is just default you could always mod it.

3. yes we lose 36% but this helps and allows pregeneration of rwg maps and the maps are way more densely packed now and there is a bunch of new pois (70+ of i remember correctly). Especially those new pois take awhile to loot. So it isn’t an issue that we have a smaller map now.

4. no i am not up the devs ass and i take no drugs (besides alcohol and nicotine).

5. you seemed quite passive aggressive which on this forum means more like you are. A troll therefore people might attack you rather than see your error (my view) in what you statef.

In A16 you can go away from (0,0) approximately 10km in any direction. This is what is called a radius. The map has a diameter of 20km. This is how an approximate size of 314 sq km was calculated. 10x10 = 100 --> 100 x 3.14 = 314

Kinyajuu has confirmed that the new size is a square map that is 8km x 8km which means a total size of 64 sq. km. 8 x 8 = 64.

So the map will be considerably smaller but more densely filled with POI's. This is better for some playstyles and worse for others. So that is how some people can talk about how it is better and how others can talk about it is worse and nobody has to be deep in anyone's ass. Although, there may be a problem with at least one person who thinks everyone plays the game the same way as them....

Why is it that they had to shrink the map from 10x10 to 8x8? Seems that the preloaded stuff could be done on original map.

 
give the choose people: change size of the map, the style and complexity of the game (add the possibility of death without resurrection (hardmode), make a minimum hit points 10 then death instead of min 70).

more options for fine-tuning the game

 
map is cut, a new BAD weapon system (drawing conclusions on video and descriptions).

further delete the zombies and add aliens?

I already archived an old copy of 16.8 on my computer
