Another new tree model cool!

So you know I HAVE to bring it up again...

We need Joshua Trees , the desert just looks weird without them!

roland, that may be true of alot of folks, however it is not the case with me, i never said the lazy devs lied, my problem is that they arent communicating between themselves properly. for joel to tell us flat out in the video that the jeeps passenger ability was in the game and it would be in a17, then expound on that topic with statements like riding around with friends and the like. these arent imaginary roland, these are in the video joel released. but im done talking about this, keep up your shield wall and acting the troll when someone has a valid concern that is direct opposition to the devs are perfect mindset. you will see in my last response to faatal how much i appreciate the good work theyve been doing. peace out.
Dude careful with that. If you want to know one of the big reasons why TFP substantially reduced communication to all of us, it's because of posts like this.

* Flame TFP for communicating a detail that is subject to change because it's under development.

* Flame TFP for not communicating with us about changes they're working on.

TFP is in a lose/lose situation there. It's understandable to be upset when something you're looking forward to gets yanked. But if you want TFP to keep up with the communication and sharing details, that frustration has to be mellowed. Otherwise, mum's the word from TFP and I think many of us have missed how much communication they provided in the past.

More like Wife Aye!

Wait so you reduced processor usage by 75% for core AI, dude they aren't paying you enough.
Out of all the AI changes, that was not a hard one. I just put delays on AI tasks, so they are not all being checked 20 times a second on every entity. There was also some ugly check if this task conflicts with every other task, which was greatly simplified and much faster.

This is pretty awesome to hear to be honest. Thanks for your hard work and I really look forward to seeing it in action!

With regards to increasing the number of zombies spawned in the game, what are the main bottle necks you are finding that are impacting the ability to scale up zombie numbers? Thanks

faatal, you must know that there is no literal language that is strong enough to be able to overcome the imaginary "promise" that some people seem to see in every sentence a developer types.

roland, that may be true of alot of folks, however it is not the case with me....

...thats really all ive been asking for is dont promise what your not sure about....
lulz...

I can just imagine the look of horror on your face when you saw the AI code for the first time haha!

Blocks should be able to do their own AOE buffs (havent actually tested that, yet) so you can tie whatever you want to them.
Wait, so the only thing keeping us from actually tying a yellow ribbon around the new oak is that we don't have a yellow ribbon item? We really must be getting close to gold. Or at least a18.

Oh, and the song is about the "old oak tree" - this is a new oak tree. Just to be pedantic. :)

I'd vote for that. Before I got this job, I was thinking a middle speed or mode would be nice.
Ooh, good, an insider who likes the idea. I have hope. (very slight hope, but it's a start - kind of like waking up naked in the woods during a zombie apocalypse, in a way)

Yes, water was probably made 50% faster.
Core AI decision making is using about 25% of the CPU it was using before.
Thanks.

When reading JH's tweet I interpretted it both ways, given the comma..

We fixed water and improved [its] perf 50%. Also reflections!

We fixed water, and improved [game] perf 50%. Also reflections!

In any case, that could still be decent gains with water alone.. Anyone remember when crysis rendered all the water under the map even if you couldnt see it? yea, good times.

Alpha code should nearly always be really ugly. If it isn't, you put too much effort into it. It'll nearly all be thrown out and replaced by prettier code once you're more sure what you want the code to really do, and how. I'd be more surprised if he wasn't able to achieve massive gains. I'd bet he finds many more places to optimize once they get past the "does all this new a18 code work without crashing?" stage...

Any info one what type of bad a$$ specs are needed to play the game on all high settings? I cant even play or default settings :(

EDIT: I never get an answer or even any real info about it. I cant come close to fully enjoying the graphics.
