Well, here is what I know:1) Real, big-budget games don't have early access, and they put their products out fast and complete.

2) Skyrim is an awesome game which has quests and building and fighting and story. If Bethesda can put out a great game like that, then this should be no problem.

3) I want swords in this game. Skyrim has swords. Guppy's Medieval mod has swords. If they can do those things, then the vanilla game should have swords too. The devs told us that there would be new weapons, so there should be swords.

I'm never playing 7dtd again.
I love skyrim myself but you may be playing a different game to me.

Skyrim development time 2006-2011 with the main game engine being largely complete already, Bethesda use the same engine they always have since Morrowind with bugfixes and updates. Five years to complete a game using a team of one hundred people when the main engine is largely built is not fast.

Bethesda has said there are bugs in skyrim that will never be fixed, is it complete? No.

Skyrim has a decent building system? No.

The difference between a machete and a short sword is largely semantic.

Multi-passenger vehicles is simply NOT a feature you can just drop in shortly before a release. There are a lot of interactions and network shenanigans that need to be tested thoroughly.
That's not something us plebeians would understand. You know, you guys just do magic and things appear in the game.

It may be how I explained it but that is not even close to what I was saying. I was saying you don't wait to mention something when everything is finished and in place and expect them to go back and change it. I am also not saying that they have in any way, shape or form have to go back and change anything they have done that they have already added or left out. It's more like the saying "Closing the barn door after the horses are gone"

I still don't think I am explaining it how I have it in my head.
I don't think you said anything about a demand, but you assume that they simply forget features all the time. "you don't wait to mention something" is only necessary the first time. "Dad, I have to pee" should inform dad about it. "Dad, I have to pee, I have to pee, I have to pee, I have to pee" doesn't add any more information to it expect maybe that it is important to that child.

The only reason to think that the developers need that information although it has been mentioned not only by us but also by them(!) is if you think they forgot. Ok, sure, it's a plausible motive. But really you could just ask once if the developers already have a list of features (ordered by priorities) and if "passengers" is on it somewhere. That is much more efficient than us shouting all the possible features once a week in the forum to simulate a ticket system they probably mostly ignore because they have a feature list.

my perspective has changed long ago, when i had to wait a year for an update. still.its hard to be positie, since the modders keep the game alive, instead of the content updates. yearly updates made my opinion. i bet A17e will came only at the end of aug. or later.

btw we talked about the passanger seat, then suddenly they say its not gona happen yet.... disgrace. what else should i feel. cheated... fooled. the jeep is just a new texture for players. we dont care about coding. all we see is the minibike got 2 new textures. and it took 1 year
If you feel fooled because nobody told you that there would be passenger vehicles in alpha seventeen yet you pretended that someone did....

Well, you rightfully feel that way. Cheated? The amount of content added since when you purchased the game until now is worth far more than what you paid; you're cheating the devs by not reimbursing them for their time, how about that?

I get that you feel it is hard to be positive, yet I think the content of the forums prove that most people are not "finding it hard to be positive" at all. We seem to get along just fine.

Hurry up and go on your honeymoon! They're not releasing A17 until the day you leave. Geeze DeVega, you're holding things up! Go already!
No problem! I'll call the wife right now and tell her we have to leave to the US 2 months earlier than expected. For.. Reasons..

3 things I see wrong with your argument

A. This is not a big budget game...it was kickstarter early access

B.. Fun Pimps is not a big developer

C. Just because you want swords doesn't make it so...its not your game

Coughs * VIDEO * Coughs

You don't have to. You don't have to post, either.

Oh, Skyrim was in production for far longer before release than this game. Every triple a game is. Early access means you get it while it's being made.

You want swords? Okay. They are modded in already. I'm sure that by the time the game goes gold there will be easier ways for us to port in whatever we want.

Bye Felicia.

You know where you made your biggest mistake? is thinking that people like that care about the update being done right. Someone will always be upset, doesn't matter how small or inconsequential the thing is.
You can't reason with people like that, they need to complain. About something.

You just gotta ignore people like that, just appreciate that the majority of players aren't like him/her. The grass is never greener for them, its only brown and dying out

I personally wanted behemoths, but no more behemoths. Oh well, modified / fixed AI to zombies hopefully works so the need for a tougher zombie like a behemoth is unnecessary.
Im sorry, but i try a different Method.

I am aware that he is a "troll" but White Knighting or ignoring him does no good.

He will stay the way of a human he is for the rest of his life, but as i try to counter with facts or at least good reasoning, i might take the fire out of his oven, if you understand me right.

And, what i truly belief for different forums too: There are people that participate like us with Comments, and people who read only. And those who maybe get infected by his poison i want to give other perspectives.

I do not belief a Troll can be truly fed, as they live probably on their own selfhate.

Just think people... get ready for the future!

Well the game is done and Gold:

Where are the DLCs you promised?

It shouldnt take too long to put DLCs out, right?

Where is all the new stuff that was promised on the kick starter and never added?

Why cant my server handle 150 players?

Whats with the lag when there are 20 people flying around in random gen past 50KM?

Where is the Behemeth?

When we get EA to 7dtd part II?

This game and company is going to hell in a hand basket!

its gonna happen and we all know it :)

Yes, we talked about a feature, so you got to know it was being worked on. That information did not guarantee it would be in any specific version or ever released. Game development has a lot of experimentation in it. Experiments by their nature sometimes fail. Early Access lets you watch those successes and failures.

Vehicle passenger support is probably 70% done, but I made the suggestion to the owners that we push it back, since we wanted large changes to AI and pathfinding for A17, while would take a lot of time and was deemed more important. I hate it when I work on something and it never gets used. I have no intention of letting that work be wasted, but priorities.

I'm pretty sure Jedo just forgot to include the irony tags. "never playing 7dtd again" is just too melodramatic even for this forum.
Apparently my previous ridiculing of those who truly embody Roland's post combined with the sheer ridiculousness was not enough to indicate my sarcasm. (Maybe we have reached the stage where things which formerly seemed utterly ludicrous have become normal, thus impairing our ability to distinguish between them. Eeep!) I'm also not an established enough presence on the forum, I suppose.

Rhetoric is a lost art.

Never use irony tags and never feel like you have to explain it. That’s the beauty of irony. Some will get it and some will not and those who don’t get it and respond just add to the hilarity.

I'd MUCH rather have better ai and pathfinding than a passenger seat. The loop de looping of the zeds in a16 made us stop playing for the last 5 months.

Add convenience stuff like the passenger seat after big game change stuff like quests and ai improvements.

The responses truly did have me chuckling.

I do feel a little badly, though, because I don't want to be seen as truly contributing to the negativity. I'm a jokester. I try to make light and alleviate tension through laughs. Of course, not everybody in the club will get the jokes, as you point out.

RELEASE THE DAMN KRAKEN ALREADY! *ahem* Lost myself there for a moment. Carry on. :playful:

Careful, faatal. Words like that will ruin your universal favorability around here. Better just to blame it on MM.

At least Faatal is honest and owns it, I don't like his decision but I can respect it.

Maybe once he locks down the A.I. he might find some time to finish that 30% that's left and surprise us.

As my wife would tell you, I just like to talk.
I also enjoy the feedback of the forums and the ideas that bounce around here.
I just want you to know that you are among the best devs I have seen when it comes down to dev feedback. You posts are interesting to read and they are often very informative. LOL, I just hope that you wont make your Zs so clever, it would brake an imersion. Leave it for those human NPCs! :)

The physics haven't been reworked to add vehicles. I haven't seen the code so I may be wrong but I think somebody implemented, and expanded upon, the vehicle system already available in unity. That system has just had a major update so now would be a good time to add it.
The old vehicle (minibike) was/is being replaced by a modular system that supports varying amounts of wheels, motors (propellers) and forces (like buoyancy for boats), with much of the system configured by data in xml.

Unity provides the basics of what you need, which is not a vehicle, but parts to make one, which the old minibike did not use.

RigidBody and WheelCollider.

https://docs.unity3d.com/ScriptReference/Rigidbody.html

https://docs.unity3d.com/ScriptReference/WheelCollider.html

Those are not things you just slap together. They require a lot of code and a ton of tweaking to get them to work and feel right.

Our main vehicle code file is 3581 lines. The vehicle data code file is 1078 lines. There are 13 other code files for vehicle systems like the engine. The vehicle data in xml is 677 lines.
