Gotta say not a big fan of craftable guns. The argument always was that no one has gun parts laying around. Which is a fine argument, but if the solution is to take some iron, wood and mech parts and somehow realistically come up with an AK or a sniper... well hopefully I don't have to point how WORSE that is for the "immersion" type people who argued parts needing removed. Also not a fan of simplified stats when it comes to quality. I'm certain this is leading to quality removal period at some point.

Intrigued by what the "stat" fans feel about this though. So now we have 5 base guns in each tier, and the assumption is the weapon mods are what adds to the "use" of each gun. It will take some getting used to but I can see that as a viable option. Who would have thought my gun doesn't matter much anymore. Its just a base piece. The REAL quality of a guns performance comes directly from mods now. Interesting take on it i suppose. Best part is it shouldn't be too difficult to mod it all back in if it becomes too simplistic a mechanic.

But it DOES seem popular popular so what do i know.

Neues update?

Hi guys!

I have some questions for you.

When will a new update on the xbox one come out again, the PC is so much further than us?

I have a stupid mistake my game always crashes after an hour what can I do?

It is sad that it works on every platform except the box.

I really like the game but the mistakes are annoying.

I would look forward to an answer from you.

Hi Leute!

You have normal maps (gives it a 3d look), occlusion, specular, diffuse, and um... one more I think. Reflectiveness, reaction to light, etc... I'm still personally struggling with them for my mod because they don't look like in game what they look like outside of the game, so my /guess/ is tfp has a custom shader and a custom tool to make their own maps.
Definitely more a @madmole question since he's the BAOC (Big Artist On Campus).

Oh, and I usually record from my laptop, where the resolutions are way lower; they look pretty good on my desktop pc.
Thanx for your quick answer again.

... I dont think the resolution of your laptop is the reason for washed textures when I play on my PC ;)

The resolution could be set to higher one then the current max.

What I described is called vector displacement maps. As far as I know its part of DirectX11 and could be used in Unity.

I found this as an example: http://docs.pixologic.com/user-guide/3d-modeling/exporting-your-model/vector-displacement-maps/

I can imagine that the game would look amazing when this could be added... Just a thought. But properly there are reasons why they dont use it.

EDIT: or Bump Map: https://docs.unity3d.com/Manual/StandardShaderMaterialParameterNormalMap.html

The Pimps do not write the console versions themselves, but external portieren the code.

Have to complain to the companies!

But it's your own fault, what do you buy a console?

Die Pimps schreiben die Konsolenversionen nicht selber, sondern Externe portieren den Code.

Musst dich bei den Unternehmen beschweren!

Aber eigentlich biste selbst schuld, was kaufst du dir auch ne Konsole!?

I will play A17 how ever TFP wanted it played. I will explore the in's and out's, up and down. Then I will play some more and breath the game in, get in the spirit of how it was meant to be played.
THEN I will have an opinion people might want to hear. Opinions before experience are usually silly.

Did I say anything about suggestions? Who are you talking to?
Your whole statement about ppl having an opinion about aspects of the game they have't physically played with yet.

Whether its a "opinion" about an aspect of the game that hasn't been implemented or we haven't played with yet -OR- A "suggestion" to change something about the game that hasn't been implemented or played with yet. Its still based on a speculative opinion. No matter how you slice it, its still a opinion either way.

I just don't agree that it's silly to comment on it (opinion) or make a suggestion (based on the opinion). PPl having an opinion (with a following suggestion based on their opinion) on aspects of the game, based on what the dev's have shown and talked about, is not silly. It's normal. Especially in a forum that is designed to do so.

I'm sorry, ppl being speculative and having opinions on what they think about whats actually being discussed and shown on whats being added to the game (which is what this forum is designed to do) is far more interesting then pp prattling on an on about "Did the bar move?!", "Whens the update coming out?" blah blah blah...

I agree with you Tin. I think the discussion going on the last few days have been much better and more productive. I think the updates we have gotten have helped a lot in guiding that discussion and people forming opinions and making suggestions based on them, like you said.

Sharing our thoughts on a forum like this is a very valuable tool. While we can not expect anyone to value our opinion as much as we do, we should also not be afraid to share that opinion because we may have thought of something that no one else did and it could spark 100 pages of conversation.....or 1000 pages of fighting. lol

Either way, I say, put your ideas out there, share your suggestions and let what happens happen.

okay i got a question with the weapons overhaul. are all weapons still in the game, ie "sniper rifle" which is actually an ar-15 variant still in the game? which would make the bolt action rifle the sniper rifle now.
I wondered that too. The fact that they use an AR15 with a long range scope as the "sniper" rifle but the bolt action rifle got no scope was weird to me. I'd love to see something like the CSGO APW be the end game rifle that can be modded with long range scopes, tripod, and a skin I have a chance of winning in a loot crate sold to me by trader Joel for 5000 Dukes (not cereal about that last part LOL).

To guess the answer to your question, I imagine they will keep it the same, keeping the scope on the "Sniper" but being able to put one on the hunting rifle as well. Or maybe they will make a model of the sniper (so an AR15) that doesn't have the scope as the base.

i would assume they would take off the scope and add iron sights. then you can modify it any way you like. which makes the most sense to me, make it slightly longer range then the ak and slightly more accurate hip fire.

If I have to press and release shift to stop running, I'm going to forget every time. Or every other time. I'm all about having a toggle for this option though. :p

Ever consider an autorun key as well?

Add this to the Action0 on blunderbluss
<property name="Sound_start" value="bullethitcloth" />

see its not hard
No experience with any of this, but this looked simple enough. Thought I'd try it on the sniper since it looks like it has a suppressor already on it. Unfortunately "bullethitcloth" has three different sounds with it and only one sounds like a suppressed shot. So I copied the <SoundDataNode name="bullethitcloth> section, renamed it and put it in the sniper section, removing the other two sounds that didn't work. This is what I came up with:

<SoundDataNode name="suppressedsniper"> <AudioSource name="Sounds/AudioSource_Impact"/>

<Noise ID="1" range="4" volume="7" time="5" muffled_when_crouched="1"/>

<AudioClip ClipName="Sounds/ImpactSurface/bullethitcloth1"/>

<LocalCrouchVolumeScale name="1.0"/> <CrouchNoiseScale name="1"/> <NoiseScale name="1"/> <MaxVoices name="3"/> <MaxRepeatRate name="0.01"/> </SoundDataNode>

Then I followed your step, but put <property name="Sound_start" value="suppressedsniper"> in the Action0 spot on the sniper.

Works beautifully!! Thanks for that. Didn't think it would be so easy.

Terrain looks great...

This may be wishful thinking...BUT at the 12:27 mark....the road looks like it goes towards a bunker at the base of the mountain....is it just that way because of loading the distant terrain or is that a new type POI or tunnel??

Regards

Ouch

Its not a true toggle. Press shift once to start running and you keep running as long as you continue to press forward (w). Press shift again or hold it down and it doesn't do anything. You just keep running. Stop pressing forward and you stop and go back to the default of walking.

So shift isn't so much a toggle as it is a "running starter". The only way to drop out of running is to stop moving forward for a millisecond. If you are already running then just release (w) and then quickly press it again and you will be walking.

So far I like it. I think I like it better than I would having to press shift again to walk. I definitely like it better than having to hold down shift to maintain a run as it is in A16.

I believe I meet all of Aldranon's requirements to comment and opine about this as well.... ;)

I give the movement scheme an A.

This sounds like how it works while using a controller and that setup feels pretty good.

You have to remember the majority of the people who are telling us to hold on to our opinions are the same ones who think its massive fun to post 20 memes about that bar and rattle on off topic endlessly. Remember there was a time when this dev thread had RULES? Like **** posting just to **** post used to actually be frowned upon, but I guess when your update takes the equivalent of one year you have to let people have some fun otherwise there isn't much at all to talk about on a daily basis.

I remember a time when off topic posting would get moved to its own threads, or *gasp* deleted.

Wat?

I just moved a bunch of posts yesterday because they were off-topic WHILE Madmole was on and making comments and responding. If you want to skip to just the meat and forgo the cheesy potato casserole of community banter then go to the third post of this thread and I made a little tutorial for you on just how to do that.

The dev diary is running smoothly to facilitate dev interaction whenever THAT happens and community interaction the other 99% of the time....
