Unless all your stuff becomes locked to other players 30 minutes after you log off then its rarely PvP, more "players vs offline players stuff".
That or you have to join a large group that can stay online 24/7. Not very fun IMO.
Yeah, I just absolutely love logging in and finding that everything I had has been destroyed while I was doing that 'sleep' thing that my body requires me to do. I recall this being discussed in regards to another game, and people where complaining at the idea that it might take them a whole hour to break into someone's base and trash it while that person was offline.

This also reminds me of back in the day playing FFXI where you would literally have shifts to wait for certain very important monsters to spawn so you could try to claim them for your linkshell. Like, actual shifts-on-a-schedule-everyone-is-required-to-actually-attend-to-like-it's-a-job. I, like, presumably, most other human beings, of which I totally am one, play games to relax, and having to band together with a dozen people and set up a schedule of taking shifts to watch our base so that we don't get raided doesn't sound fun to me.

Snip

Right now the game is being built as a baseball bat, feel free to beat each other with them, but as of right now we won't be changing the baseball bat design so that it supports beating the snot out of each other over it's primary function of hitting baseballs.
New game play style confirmed for A17! Player Vs. Baseballs! ;)

This game for me is a SP game .....WHY ?....Because its to easy with others helping you.

Always got someone checking your back.

Each person paying into different skills

You can loot a town clean in a hour

3 of you = 3 buildings looted at the same time = 2/3 of the town you don't have to search through for items you need or are hunting for = 2/3 of your time saved...EASY

Multiple direction's searched at once for bigger better towns/Hub

One hunting for food one mining one getting treasure..list goes on

try on your own with a pack of dogs and just a bow and arrow...with 3 of you its easy.... dogs go for one of you and others shoot

Makes me laugh when you see these twitch streamers saying it's on insane mode ..but there's like 3 or more of them lol.

It's nice to play with a group..But if you want hard ,Up the hardness and Go solo

Hey fataal, when it comes to the zombies pathing for attacking, are they still going to be drawn to doors or will they hopefully go for any side of the base at random? Im mainly asking cause it would be awesome if they didn't always head for a door so we could have an entrance to our base that wasnt underground or on a broken ladder lol

Hopefully we can get some nice AI intelligence scaling working, so they get smarter and more capable as the player gets more skilled and capable.
So they only level your base once you have collected all kinds of valuable stuff in it? I guess i'll be spending my horde nights in random POIs then...

As long as zombies GPS to my location, i will always find a way to trick them. I don't enjoy fixing the same ♥♥♥♥ over and over again, especially when there's nothing i can do to avoid it.

(i guess i need to wait and see how stealth system turns out)

I'm all for coop gameplay development first even though I like PvP also.

I think that some adjustments can be done to improve PvP without compromising PvE..

Faatal: "The Zombie hordes will now destroy you base in 13.5 seconds! You will scream AND SCREAM until they rip. your. face. off!!"

Aldranon: "Hmm, is it weird that I want to play A17 even more now?" :)

As I understand it, when they scan an area for the block to attack they see the door as .25 Durability. SO if the door at .25 Durability has more HP then the blocks around it, then they will attack the blocks around it instead of the door.

Example(Doing this more to make sure I get it also):

Vault3 Door = 8,000 Durability

Zombies see it at 2,000

If any blocks around the door are less than 2,000 they will attack those blocks instead of the door.

... i can tell you i know personally dozens ...
Whole dozens? Well, that changes things. TFP obviously needs to just start from scratch and make a PVP game. I mean, if whole dozens of people who played the game in a way it was never designed got mad and left they have no option but to abandon the current game and make one for them.

Actually, 91% of the player base prefers PVE and 78% of them wear moustaches. Steam stats clearly show that.(you can't expect a serious response to some nonsense you made up on the spot)
So clearly we need a PVM mode (player versus mustache).

EDIT: Or BVM. Beard vs. Mustache. The Amish have already fought this one through attrition. I doubt many of them play 7DTD though.

As a guy that played 7 days do die since A1 having probably around 5k hours or more, thats owns Ark, Rust and other big survivals. i can tell you i know personally dozens if not hundreds of people that gave up on 7dtd because of the pvp instability. They switched to Ark, Rust, Connan and so on not because those games are better but because 7dtd is almost unplayable at pvp. I dont know exact amounts but i can tell you i played on every big pvp server, and nowdays there are barley 1-2 europe, 1-2 russia 1-2 Us good servers while back then before a12 when you could run decently 50-60 players on a map there were dozens of servers and all full regardless of week days. No matter what they do or how hard Devs can try this will never be a good single player game or coop. Ai is Ai and you have minecraft building style, in 2 hours you can beat the game is simple as that. While if it is pvp multi everything changes and gets meaning, from hoarding loot into making a good base design, playstyle everything... even the zombies are complementing so good the pvp in game creating amazing situations. I dont know if it was intentional or not but TFP hit the jackpot on the ideea of the survival multi player. And the day they wil focus on the pvp and multiplayer side to have at least 50-60 slots stable. Every other surv game will become a desert.
Or if they dont i almost bet at some point somone will copy all the ideeas point it in the right way and will get out a big ass game loved by everyone
May I recommend spending a few hours on the newer alphas? I mean, 5k hours in A1 is admirable, but the game is no longer "beatable" in 2 hours. =)

I just don't understand how anyone even can see this as a PvP game. Most servers I've played throughout the years had little to no pvp going on. There is so much to do in this game, people don't really feel the need to go out and kill others. Killing zeds, exploring and looting easily keep me busy 80 ingame days, add another 40 days for developing the base until its just an impenetrable fortress made of reinforced steel, and then you just start over or keep building or doing other stuff, improving your gear, fixing the city (like rebuilding the ruins etc), all that.

And now consider that in most AAA games you get like a 20-40 hour campaign. A single game in 7dtd with 80 ingame days lasting half an hour each is already the same amount of playtime. And there is alot more replayability than in all the AAA games.

Yeah, and with the random maps being as big as they are on some less than populated servers a pvp server can be just a pve server coz ain't nobody around for miles.
I like the promise of interesting PvP. PvP can be Co-Op too ..it is interesting to war in groups/factions.

But I'm happy to wait for that if it means first having a working and enjoyable SP and PvE experience.

And if that doesn't challenge you n ur friends its always mod-able to suit!

Cant knock TFP or 7days ..imho :)
I think the problem is the lower player cap, a randomgen map should be able to hold 60+ players easly as its virtually infinite, At least I never managed to find the end of a randomgen map myself yet. Pvp would be better if there was more people, even in navezgane, 8 players is a small number for how big even that map is.

Yeh, 10 was pretty much the max in my 200x200 (give or take) arena, and it felt right. You weren't bumping into each other, but you could find others more or less easily if you wanted to.

First you say they will destroy your stuff, then you say you can trick them easily. So trick them not to destroy your stuff.

After a few balancing steps in A17.1-4 everything will probably be much the same as ever. It is not in TFP's interest to make vanilla unpleasant for new players. If the zombies are able to destroy their unoptimised first bases in minutes and make the tower-defense part impossible, new players WILL not stay long.

Shout out to the devs for consistently reaffirming that this is not primarily a PVP game.

There are so many reasons why games like this suck for PVP. If u want real PVP there are so many good pvp games out there...just go play them... Battlefield 1, Fortnite, etc.

Once again, Thank you TFP for not being sidetracked with PVP nonsense in this game.

I have it on good authority that my 10,000 posts of PvP suppression gets the most credit.
