Disregard.

Playing catch-up here and my question was answered in a later post.

Simple solution is all the vehicles can now drive underwater, just slowly. There is a short period where the vehicle slows down as it gets in deep water, so you can make it across short water gaps.
Can we still drown while on/in vehicles?

Question already asked. My bad.

Wouldn’t that be more like submarines?
If the helicopter makes it, that would be the submarine.

Playing catch-up here, but does that mean your character doesn't drown when driving a vehicle thru deep water?
No, it means that we expect you to drown and then we will laugh.

No. It means you will drown and your Jeep will be stuck down there unless you can back it out little by little for as long as you can hold your breath.

The purpose is not to drive across rivers. It is so that if you accidentally drive into water you can back it out rather than having to disassemble it.

It is inadvisable to purposefully drive your Jeep into a lake even if you are Michael Scott and you are following the directions of your gps device.

Are the jeep and the other vehicles destructible? Can you get more than one of each? Can you wrench them and destroy them?

What if I had a Michael Phelps perk and could swin really fast and gather my items from the jeep without drowning? What if Michael Phelps and Superman had a combined clone, then I could swim down to my jeep and carry it back up.

Yes, well vehicle programmer and other misc stuff.
Now, just to help clear things up:

1) Airships are a type of vehicle.

2) Airships can also be considered other misc stuff as well, but more fun.

3) My avatar has an Airship in her picture (and a Katana but that's for another day) and she is 48% more happy than other avatars.

So if something takes up your job descriptions AND is fun, its almost as if you have to make one, wow and cool!

I'm not expecting to see Airships in A17 (unless you want to be the most EPIC dev that ever lived!), but once large vehicles are working, to your satisfaction. I humbly ask that you use your great and wonderful powers to make airships. For the children of the world... for world peace... for my avatars picture.

Thank you very, very, very much... Sir.

See? It was a funny joke. And I made it SFW.

Anyway, vehicles... about that gravity setting in the xml... come new dev faatal, you know you wanna. =)

Please don't make all the lootable garbage get destroyed by the jeep. By day 100 on a heavy populated server all the garbage will be gone

The lootable garbage can spawn again in the world in the random place isn't it?

Well, assembling and disassembling are on the way out for weapons and therefore likely for vehicles which is probably why they had to make them drivable underwater.
This will take some getting used to. Will minibikes pop out, fully formed, from the forge or workbench? Or will you just find them in garages? I do like the scrappy, do-it-yourself-ness of scrounging and cobbling together a bunch of different parts to make a functioning vehicle.

I also like the system to collect individual parts for the vehicles. That's another matter with weapons.

However, I like the idea of mods for vehicles.

You could make it that way, that you still have to make frame, seat, etc., but these parts are considered as ingredients for the Minibike recipe.

Or a whole new mechanic workbench + hydraulic ramp which is only for vehicle parts, since we're getting more of them. *Dreaming of a workshop in the apocalyptic world* :D

Also, more than 5 possible different ingredients would be great, but that's another topic.

some people might not be seeing the picture about water and driving. driving vehicle under water again is only a way to keep from having to disassemble the vehicle to get it out and sound like fun!

B U T...

Probably that straight shortcut across the lake isn't gonna be the best choice to make!

Do you have enough gas for that slow trip?

How long can you hold your breathe?
:)

Can't wait to get in the Ol' Jeep at horde night, on my custom made racing field.

Carmageddon style :D

What is the latest on Bandits? Yay/Nay for A17?

I think the main problem would be getting it back out of the water if you can't dismantle it. The real way would be to tie a rope to it and drag it out but ziplines have been dropped.
Haha, i was thinking the same thing :)

It would actually be easier to implement then ziplines. You don't need player animations or anything.

Just make a winch block that you can place. Connecting the rope can use the same animation as wiring. All you'd have to do is add physics that vehicles can be reeled in at low pace. How about that, faatal?

Winch could be also used to roll the flipped jeep.

We could have a frame block that you place and upgrade with your wrench, as long as you have all the ingredients.

You're looking at a new block for the winch, an extension to the wiring mechanic to attach it to the vehicle and giving the block the power to provide directional physics to an entity which may or may not be in the immediately rendered area.

That's a lot of work.

Might have missed this but when it says Behemoth and Zip lines are dropped, does that mean dropped from ever being done, or just not in A17?

...I'd love it if storage contents were ruined as a result of immersion btw. Just saying. =) Put them on the same timer as the Oxygen.
Only if we get a way to protect the contents so that won't happen (or at least a way to extend the timer). From a game standpoint I think that anytime you get an opportunity to prepare for something and do then you should have at least a slight advantage over those that don't prepare. :p

On a more practical note, allowing multiple containers to be added to your vehicle (or multiple tabs on the interface, if you will) would make some things more... realistic and fun. Adding a sealed cooler as a container, for instance, might protect a few items from drowning when you go in deep water (like gunpowder or food). Adding a lockbox would allow you to secure your valuables (with safe like qualities). That sort of thing.

Granted, maybe there are additional things you need to do such as strapping the containers in so that if you do manage to roll the thing all your stuff doesn't go flying everywhere. As anyone that has accidentally exchanged their full basket for an empty one on their minibike can tell you, that sucks and is well worth avoiding.

Also... the bigger vehicles should have bigger explosions when they get destroyed. It would be even more awesome if the container contents in the vehicle also had a chance to explode with it. Imagine the explosion a jeep full of TNT would make? :D
