Simple solution is all the vehicles can now drive underwater, just slowly. There is a short period where the vehicle slows down as it gets in deep water, so you can make it across short water gaps.

So the part of the vehicle code that interacts with water was modified? Hang on a second...

Boats confirmed in Alpha 17! ;)

 
Don't know a "trick". I assume they are moving with the root motion of the anim.

Well, assembling and disassembling are on the way out for weapons and therefore likely for vehicles which is probably why they had to make them drivable underwater.

If we can drive the jeep under water it needs to have a cd player. I need to be able to put The Beatles "Octopus's Garden" on a loop.

I am assuming that you are planning to equipped the jeep with a elevated breather? A snorkel like the ones the military uses for Humvees?

Are you planning on keeping the forced stabilization of a vehicle or are there plans to let them roll over realistically?

What's the logic behind your decision either way?

Well that wraps that up nicely :) .

So down the line, would it be conceivable to have the engine drown if under to long or at a certain depth?

I'm wondering if it's somewhat straightforward or will require a lot...

I think the main problem would be getting it back out of the water if you can't dismantle it. The real way would be to tie a rope to it and drag it out but ziplines have been dropped.

If it is 30 feet under, that won't work. Drive it out slowly is the simple way.

The 2 wheelers have to have it or they promptly fall over. If the SUV (jeep) flips, then you need a way to fix it. Since you can't pick vehicles up anymore, we could do the flip it command like in Halo, but I like not having to deal with it. We shall see.

 
And of course, you have to have the lungs of a Olympic synchronize swimmer. Can you imagine your driving across one of those huge bodies of water, like a sea or ocean they are so big, and so deep you can't even go halfway down before you drown?

I can see Gup now, driving along, minding his own business heading home as it is getting close to 22:00 and here comes a horde, decides to run for it instead of doing his normal run through them and cut them to pieces and doesn't realize he is going to go over a cliff and it is a long way to the bottom.

I'm figuring we will see him bring his jeep to the surface by the release of the next alpha.

Seriously, we will have to be very careful where we drive, especially at night or we might just end up dead from drowning. RG has some really deep lakes.

 
I put my jeep in about 3' of water and the damn water got into the gas tank. I was not amused. Either way, this seems like a MUCH better solution than it getting stuck in a drop of water, so although not perfect (yet), I'm optimistic and happy to drown myself over, and over again.

...I'd love it if storage contents were ruined as a result of immersion btw. Just saying. =) Put them on the same timer as the Oxygen.

 
All you have to do is dig a giant hole next to the lake and drain the water out to the hole.

Or more practically we give you a way to find/make a breathing device, so you can get to it and drive it out.

 
Pft, you all are nice about not allowing it to flip over and get stuck.

I still say make it really tough to flip over but if you do, it explodes. Then you get an achievement called "Here's your Sign!" or "You won the Darwin Award!" :playful:
