Nah. It's better being gone. Makes people actually explore the map outside of the hub.
It still does have a chance to spawn at 0,0, just not 100% like it was.
Hub should be deadlier. With constant feral zombies maybe? With an increased sense and targetting AI?

If you limit yourself to hub city it's not hub city fault tbh. With better RWG (that we maybe see someday in a video? :) ) and more abundant or sprawling cities spawning. If any player on our server would only camp hub city. I'd give him some stronk advice to git moving.

yep... RWG random generated world and if there was a city at 0,0 all the time, then where is the random?

:) people wanted RWG so here it is. i still would love to see random large pot holes on roads ... i know its evil but damn :)

I think Roland said that the next cycle will be shorter. This one was heavy under the hood, but the next one will be easier to plug in the next round of features. (Who knows, though, right?)
hasn't that been the argument made during the last several alphas though?

Nopee. Noooooooopeeee.

We've had several Alphas, I think 2 or 3 back. Where the road would suddenly end. or a 3 block hole out of nowhere. That ♥♥♥♥ is even more annoying than RANDOM landmines. If they go back that road I'mma protest.

We even marked the locations so people wouldn't drive in them anymore. One hole required at least 60+ wooden frames to "close" the hole on the surface.

I love the boat ideas....if the RWG could be tweaked to have navigable waterways that connect large bodies of water....could provide an interesting dynamic to travel in the game. if we're already getting land/air, why not water?

oh agree... but those were not suppose to happen... you know idiotic road workers (gremlins)...

i prefer a manmade or woman made :) that is like ONLY 3M deep or so and not down to bedrock and only about 5-8m diameter... enough where you may have to shovel/pick in a ramp and drive out...

believe, i fell into some of those nightmare holes in testing back then. those types i do not like. i am talking only now of small pot hole (and not the often... over doing it type)

also... the batmobile has those jumping gadgets on it so hush up cheater. :)

I literally ♥♥♥♥ myself the first time I fell into one. I went from +85 altitude to -30 whilst riding on my batbike

I never played the version where cities were their own wasteland-like, much more dangerous biome. I like the sound of that, though. Earlier this week I looked into modding to see if I could force cities to only spawn in a specific biome, but got nowhere. I did add a tier-2 steel crossbow at the request of one of my players, so that was fun. We're still debating if the fletchings for the heavy steel bolts I added should be feathers or artificial feathers made from plastic scraps. I might add a recipe for plastic scraps made from oil shale at the chemistry station, which would make it a viable option.

Anyway, if A17 happened to make cities their own biomes, or provided the option to do something like that via modding, I'll be a happy camper. Literally. I'll be camping out in the wilderness so as to not die, because during a zombie apocalypse "not dead" counts as being happy.

Know what would be a good surprise this alpha. Hub city being back!
Talking dirty again I see.

What might be as good would be biome difficulty. Start out with noob forest biome and work up to...

THE WASTELAND.

If you find yourself in, THE WASTELAND without being inundated with Badass gear, it would be best to just kill yourself over watching the extremely dramatic ways you will die. Only place that could have legendary gear. Something like that.

I just got my 4k monitor set up and everything is really sharp, I'm very happy with my purchase.

I can't wait to play A17 on it.

How tough the journey is entire left to rng and where you spawn. I have no trouble surviving on my own anywhere, but my friends who are playing for the first time have a hard time going through the wasteland with no items.

Either way all I am saying is the multi person transport was one of the main things I'm looking forward to.

Not just to be a noob taxi but after going around as a group raiding all these new poi's.

Currently you craft a few vehicle specific parts at workbench, then use those to craft a vehicle at the workbench, which gives you the vehicle as an item you can put on your toolbar. You select it and place it in the world, which becomes the actual vehicle. You cannot pick it back up.
I know I'm a little late to comment about this, but as some sort of happy medium between carrying a backpack in your inventory and carrying parts around, you could make a different workstation? call it "garage" or something. then inside the "garage" you build the vehicle and when you're done it appears in the garage to be driven away.

I think the garage would not actually be a building rather just take what the inside of a garage would look like and make it a large workplace place-able anywhere with enough space for a 4X4

Ya know what I just thought of, and which might be really interesting?

A spinoff of 7DTD built as an MMO.

Imagine: Large cities of 100 players, built by players, defending against hordes every 7 days.

Can you imagine how long it'd take to release a version optimized for MMO quantities of zombies? It would be cool, agreed, but A17 hyyyyyyype....

Yes, I dream of four person scavenging/raiding parties, pulling up into a neighborhood, splitting into pairs and scouting resources and bringing stuff back, storing in vehicle, as well as all they can carry, and then pulling out before the geeks can swarm them too bad.

Not four idiots on mopeds.

Though a couple of motorcycles with people doubled up on them would also be dope. (srsly, motorcycles need at least driver and passenger capability, at least realistically. and maybe a little bit of storage cause saddlebags or storage compartments)

I dunno, dealing with a 99 people that have 99 opinions of what a perfect base is me seems like it would just be a pain. I mean 100 people need a leader or there will be chaos and I'm sure picking a leader would be ... so easy...

That, and what would it be like to go looting? you'd have to travel forever to find a house that hadn't been looted already. but i guess that would just be a throwback to the Walking Dead.

I'd rather have a town of NPCs to protect and order around.
