How hoe's used to be fun

Gardening hoe's used to be one of the best (and the funniest) ways to take out a zombie.

You see, on past Alpha's the hoe had a swing rate twice as fast as any other tool or weapon. So you could hit a zombie in the head repeatedly and if you kept it up the zombie could not respond. Because the blows would constantly interrupt the zombie's attack.

The best way for me was to repeatedly rain blows on top of it's head until I downed it. It was hilarious watching it.

The only bad thing was the low damage yield but it only added to the fun.

I am farming one moment and some zombie comes up and I am hitting it the next. Like something off of Benny Hill.

Currently, this was taken out of the game so you can't test it with out rolling your game back to a previous alpha.

I would love to see that back in the game but I think that the Dev's are thinking that it's too OP.

Punch the Corn

When playing on the navezgane map you may find a field of corn. Much of it is dead but still useful.

While only the green stalks produce corn. The brown ones can still produce seed.

Just remember to punch it rather than trying to gather it. Otherwise it won't work.

Also, don't use you stone ax as it will wear it out needlessly.

I haven't tried this yet but I have seen a few people on twitch doing it. You are doing this on the ones already in the game in the towns? Not the ones you make. This is at least what I seen some do on twitch. I'm usually at work on break watching most the time someone random so I can't say for sure if mods or anything to the nature is being used.
To avoid confusion. I added my original post at top.

Yes I was using crops already in the game, not any that I planted myself.

No I haven't used a hoe to harvest crops before testing this now. Only to clear fields and till the ground.

Also keep in mind that crop yields are effected by soil prep. Such as tilling the soil and if fertilizer was used. :)

using the hoe is by design to help increase the yield (depending on ground cultivation methods as Sillls explained). it is by design (not a mod) and i found out the hard way, i reported it as a bug and was kindly reminded its not a bug.

so here is a very brief video i just did in a16.4b4 showing how the simple method works.

hope this helps :)

if you look at the past exprience, you can see that tfp are.. meh.. how should we say it... not the best devs. time/work done / productivity/effectivity are not their strongest "attribute" . but at least they didnt abandoned the game yet. btw what happens when a game becomes mod friendly? you are right. devs abandon it. they are already preparing. imo a18 will be the last update. the community will do the work for free to make this game interesting.

(7dtd is one of my favorites and im hyped, but this is what i see sadly)
You know what needs to end? Not just here but in all of gaming? This idea that developers need to spend the rest of their careers working on ONE game, updating for the next 20 years. At some point the game is done. I for one cant wait to see what's next for Pimps. No company should allow ONE title to define them. I want to see what else the team can cook up.

Their preparing the game for endless mods is a gift to us. It means that 10 years from now there will always be something new or different, that you will never grow tired of playing the same game for 8 years. Isn't that exciting? To know that you can have 10 DIFFERENT experiences in a game you love? That's insane replayability. I don't know why devs moving on is so taboo today. Eventually EVERYONE owns the game. A company has to move to survive and feed their families. Pimps are ensuring that when they do we wont feel abandoned.

Myself and other modders will gladly continue to put out new and interesting things for you guys.

I have approx. 1497 hours into 7D2D, and I did not know this.

Now I know. Gave the video a thumbs up too :thumb:

Actually, if I look at past experience, I see that you are always a Negative Nancy that always complains but never contributes.

Dude, anybody can be disenfranchised. It takes the better of us gamers, however, to enjoy what we paid for and give positive feedback that can actually be useful.

ah, in towns, any untilled crops, even goldenrod out in the wild. till the ground directly under the plant. you then get to harvest it as usual but with the bonus. not hit the plant with the hoe.

Agreed 100% , look how long skyrim and fallout kept going because of mods. Good game with modders that make good mods will extend any game.

yay... he's got it! :)

Always found that this game wasUp there with the best horror games out there.

I can never define truely what makes a game a horror one. Everyone differs with regards to there own demons and what makes them in a imaginary sense scared.

But you can't beat the atmosphere this game can induce with a dark dank building possesing possible danger lurking in corners or behind the closet door.
Well the random hordes that get bigger and nastier as time goes on. Plus the every 7 days blood moon. This puts you in a crunch that few games have. These force is out of comfort zone.

had it, was clarifying for others. and update your photo, you got more gray than that!
and figured we wouldnt get it til august.
you only see the gray when hair is as long as it is now... @1" so its about time for summer hair cut. :) and maybe a new pics as that one is a couple years old.

Shut up and get back to RH4, Jax ;)

While I have been aware of various harvesting techniques... (although still a noob at 3500+ hours...)

Very nicely done. Brief, to the point, informational, and good voice tone. (and now I know your name...)

Of course, the expectation now is that UnholyJoe will be developing all kinds of 3 min 7DTD A17 informational videos. (MadMole = expectations, UnholeJoe = perceptions...)

Bad news = just created some UnHolyJoe expectations.

Good news = based upon my feedback, TFP employment assured.

Just got a new 65" 4k TV...its just sitting there...taunting me to hook up my PC to it...hmmm I wonder if I should...not like anyone herewatches TV anyways...or I will wait till A17 launches as the excuse! playing 7DtD on that might be pretty cool...

But it might be odd working on my project in Unity on it...that is probably the only reason I haven't done it yet lol...

i am testing a17 on 1-27" 4k LED monitor and a16.4b8 on the other 27" 4k led monitor. no issues for me and my 55" led tv not 4k but watching bluray dvds on it while testing. i am a multi-taskers :)
#1: 27inch non-4k monitor.

#2: 34" curved g-sync Asus Predator.

#3: 72" 4k Sony.

#4: HTC Vive.

#4 is recent - WHOLLY based upon a little 'conversation' with Guppy. And while there's no VR support for 7D2D yet, Guppy has implied that it shouldn't be a big deal. So, ok, Guppy, I ain't startin' Medieval until that happens. Ain't going to ruin no fire-breathing dragon ridin experience on some lame 2D 72" 4k monitor.

(Man, that Blue guy certainly seems to like setting expectations for others...)

(True. But notice, I haven't felt the need to hear myself for quite some time...)

(I never went away...)
