Chuck

I mean, they refuse to make a proper ladder climbing animation. Do you really expect them to do proper throwing physics in water?
Proper physics would mean he couldn't throw one while underwater at all. Well, at least no more than a cm or two. He could, maybe, drop one underwater, iow.

LOOOOOOOOOW priority I guess. 🤷‍♂️
Should never have been released this way. There is no change in behavior/animation at all whether on land or under water and likely hasn't been from the beginning, when Chuck was Yeti. Would he still throw boulders if he were falling out of the sky? I imagine he would because only the dry land state was even developed. Will have to test whether the rancher spits bee swarms underwater as well. Betting he does, rearing back animation and all. And, no. Chuck was not standing at the edge of the water. He was fully submerged, little zombie legs treading water while his torso acted exactly the same as it he were standing on solid ground.

There's no excuse for it.

Probably a bug worth reporting.
What it is is rushed, unfinished, unpolished, untested development, which characterized the half-baked 2.0 update in general if we recall, for whatever reason. Not well thought through; not well implemented. I've noted multiple times that basics, e.g. player swimming animations, aren't even in place while XML variables change from update to update. Yet, I've urged patience with the development process until now. Now, I can see why people with it from the beginning are frustrated, to put it mildly. Hopefully, the 3.0 and 4.0 (and 5.0 and 6.0) they're expecting isn't receiving the same rushed treatment as 2.0 for reasons that should be plain to see for all of us at this point.

Here's hoping this doesn't come true:

I thought about that and, if so, Chuckie should be unable to enter the water and throw his boulders from the shore.

Does he have a close quarters melee attack, btw? I haven't spent enough time in his company to find out.
No, he just like throwing things at you like the ■■■■■■■ he is.

I prefer the doggy paddle glide. Could you imagine having to watch your character methodically climb up and down a ladder step by step whenever you needed to use one in a dangerous situation?

:) Could probably do with a small variety of attacks along with rancher dude. Even two-pronged would be at least somewhat sufficient compared to this. Boulders thrown from shore maybe wouldn't do as much damage as on land and Chuckie would have catch up with you to try and grab your leg, perhaps scratching you in the process, when he's submerged in it. Something along those lines. It would require more than a single AI state of behavior, of course.

This video is so funny and real, represents of how TFP acted before 😂

There isn't much water physics in the game
Uh-huh. I believe that would count as "basics", i.e. basic framework upon which the entire game is built.

something most player will never encounter
I rarely ever fire up this game and encountered it upon retrieving an air drop from the snow biome testing 4096 RWG. Considering the half dozen that spawn in your vicinity at any given time these days, I imagine anyone could easily view this AI behavior themselves. Just submerge your avatar in a body of water in the snow biome and watch the boulders fly...through water,

I agree that those things should be fixed. I disagree with these statements however. TFP has never claimed the game is in a finished state. We are now 3-years beyond the time where anyone like you who frequents the forums should still be confused that the version numbering is somehow a claim that the game is no longer in development. Anyone who actually plays the game can read the disclaimer that the game is still in development.

This means, like it or not, that they can release updates that are not in a finished state and they have a valid and reasonable excuse for why situations exactly like you described are in the game.

Now, as to your specific complaint about Chuck it is absolutely low priority because there is zero ingame reason to interact with Chuck underwater. It is an extreme edge case for gameplay. Most people would never notice it unless they specifically wanted to test to see what would happen.

It definitely needs to be fixed and I hope the reason they fix it eventually is because they decide to develop the underwater gameplay and not just because water shouldn’t act like air for all those times we go underwater in the game.

If it is still the same after the game exits development then I will share your outrage.
