Why do I need to imagine they're a console player when the point they made was rather clear; "bring back LBD, with some book unlocks attached"? Their consoleness changes nothing?

If that was confusing, then I apologize for it, but it isn't a reason to be rude about it.

Ehh. I take "rude and on point" (like Papa often is) over "random defensive posturing" any day.. not even sorry about it

There is a lot to read and i have read a lot but not all. 

But with everything said about mods. You forgot that, mods that can't be server sided only is a no go. 

The book system isn't too bad, how ever, every server run (1-2 month) i have played, i always find a stronger tier weapon that i can make. 
Then there is the fact that, the only way you now can level up stuff is to run to book store after book store and mailboxes. It's an endless loop. 
At the beginning, it was fun. "OH a book store!" Now its "oh i must take this quest as its a book store poi or a poi with good amount of books" or "i most go in here"
It just get boring fast. 

As a person who likes to mine, getting better leveling by using would make the game more, fun.
Same with person who likes to build more than scavenge.
You could make role playing more possible and fun. 

If Fun pimps have decided never to go back, then so be it. I just believe, a system of mixed of both books and leveling by doing, could make this game both more fun and interesting.

Please, be nice to each other and always, stay away from the cops, they will not help you! (in the game)

Yeh, that was the best part of the original LBD, getting better at mining while mining, watching every Nth swing do just a little bit more damage .. quite addictive Wasn't as obvious in many places and outright weird in some (armor), but overall I liked it ..

TFP isn't likely to go back, modding is probably the only real option. Shouldn't need a heavy mod, as it's just mechanics, but I don't know if one exists.

@theFlu I don´t think there is one. At least not when i checked last time. Khaine said when asked to do a stand alone of the Darkness Fall system that he might do it, but now that he is starting to make his own game while still doing DF i doubt it tbh.

@Riamus A16 was the best LBD we had in vanilla 7DTD. Not the best one possible, not even close. 

alot of things a16 and below was better back than..

the game really started to change when they added party system and trader quest system a17

used to players had to travel the map to find calipers (that forced players to move around and not stay in one spot stagnent to get everything they need without traveling)

but yeah once a17 hit that really hurt the surivivability aspect of the game because players started to use the trader for everything leveling and loot

than the party systems simply made players OP with the party buffs and shared xp
