PC Best way to spend the Blood Moon night and live

The problem is they over did it, a zombie shouldn't be able to hear thru 40-50 blocks of rock/ground, no matter what I am doing down there. I mean I've had zombies 100 blocks away outside of the poi I was in, somehow hear me and beeline it to me. I literally watched him go from wandering around aimlessly to suddendly heading right for me on the 2nd floor like a blood hound. I was crouched, in a pitch black room, looking out a tiny window, and not even moving, yet it still somehow detected me from 100+ blocks away and then knew exactly where I was. I get they wanna make it more challenging, but the zombies are getting to be way to psychic for my liking. Also zombies should have a very hard time finding you at night even if you make noise, at least inside a poi with how dark they can be now.
i agree. I've had this experience. now they are destroying my base even when i am not home, for no other reason than they are bored i guess.

39 here.... eddie rabbit i believe?
"Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head" is a song written by Hal David and Burt Bacharach

Now it's more of a first person shooter, survival horror, tower defense and role-playing game and a few people are going nuts over the "change" of the game more closely resembling what it is being advertised as.
The thing is, when Arma 2 came out in 2009, some dude thought about a better game inside what they had done. Day-Z was born out of a base game that was made for a different purpose. Viagra was originally made for lower blood pressure, then for another task.

My point is, although it's a good game of "first person shooter, survival horror, tower defense and role-playing game", the building aspect of this game is the best in the market at the moment. The detailed way blocks join each other, the textures, the painting, the designing aspect is just a masterpiece.

I am not in any shape or form saying that this become a building game. And no, I'm not turning the zombies off ffs. But I would love to be able to build a castle while still playing normally. That would mean that if my Horde base gets demolished every single time and I have to spend 3-4 days of the 6 that I have left before the next one, hoarding resources and rebuilding. What time is there to explore the world in my new gyrocopter, check new cities and get into some POIs that I havent experienced yet. (LOVE DUNGEONS)

TL;DR: I want to do both, build my castle base/home and make my tower defense base and still have time to loot/explore.

A17 is Very Very good IMO. (been playing since A13/A14?) finally a great feel and level gating makes it challenging again.

The only thing I would really change is to NERF the Zombies Block damage, it is WAY too high for the new AI.

ALL zombies now FLAWLESSLY scan their path without error and find the absolute BEST path and BEST Block to destroy.

The new AI and AMPED Block damage allow Zeds to chew through Reinforced defenses like wet TP. Two(2) Reinforced Concrete in less then 6 game mins is far too fast.

By Nerfing the zeds Block Damage to pre A16 levels you allow much more fun scenarios, that still can be lethal.

We USED to be able to build a Column base and use our bows and machetes to attack the horde through the columns until they breached the pillars it was very challenging but was not instantly lethal every time ... cops and ferals would breach it but it wasn't so fast otherwise.

IMO NERF the Block Damage Zeds Do in A17 and you have both a challenging game and a gated game and a survivor game that you can do the right things and survive with effort.

Ps. Is playing in god mode viewed as an exploit ot editing xml files?
A17 is still experimental, and it's for the better if we exploit as much as we can and

report the exploits.

Personally, i don't consider god mode an exploit in experimental release, if used for

testing.

May want to go easy on the xml edits though, at least if you want to report bugs.

Most of the things i wrote in the starting post was based on irony and wanted to make a few laughs here and there ;) Don't mind me about it, all of these topics get way too serious, although i do understand everyone's concerns.

I do wish for many different things to be changed and hopefully some will (for example the block damage of Zs or if we ever will be able to control how sleepers respawn). I miss building big structures, but at the moment i am not far into the game and it's still experimental. Things will surely change, but in what manner, we'll see. Surely TFP are discussing so many things at the moment and there surely are war fronts on various matters. I have high hopes that all of these coming changes will be for the best of the game and players (although some will still not like the changes).

In the meantime, i'm off to check a new topic and create a new thread... In a couple minutes ;)

Best way? Not like this. Thats all i going to say.

Any devs looking that: At minute 21 strange things started to happen, all zombies got stuck, then invisible zombies, time later they started to come again, then the player looked like they were stuck just like the zombies, but everyone could move normally...

But i like the challenge now. The first horde on day 7... we did it on a bridge... we survived by jumping down on the water, barely, but the zombies destroyed the ENTIRE BRIDGE. 2nd horde on day 14 we did it on a granary next to a silo, the zombies destroyed the silo and the granary almost completely.

BUT it is true that zombies destroy eveything way TOO fast, block damage need to be tuned down a bit.

Hah!The problem is that in 7D you can do so many things and with the lack of any challenge in A16 every play style on the planet would work.

I think most of us are stuck on the defense part... :)

I would say its a bit less of a tower defense and more a destruction simulator for how fast zombies chew thru any materials. In a tower defense your tower can usually last more than 2 minutes.
This.

It USED to be tower defense. You can't actually build a defensible tower anymore.

A tower defense game is not having a defensible tower. It's building many towers/traps along a path on which the enemies are walking... In any TD game I've played (and I've played quite a lot), you cannot block the enemies' path to the end, just divert it while damaging them. With a few more AI fixes, we will be able to do this just fine.

Not saying that should be exactly the case here. It is not a pure TD game and block damage does seem overtuned. But the above is how a TD game works.

Seems like you shouldn't be able to ram zombies on a bicycle, I don't mind using a bike to survive blood moons, heck it even sounds fun, I might build a get away bike into my forts.

But ramming something that weighs 150ish lbs with a bike? come on, that aint' right. :smile-new:

Ive already figured out a anti-horde structure that allows to do the horde nights... im not going to say it is 100% safe since spider and police zombies are a threat, but the rest is not an issue at all.

The trick seems to be making zombies "think" they can get to you, when they actually cant.

Molotovs. Molotovs are everything, especially if you can get them to cluster together (eg, barbed wire). It's the only thing that works aside from a ridiculous pile of explosives and ammunition.

You do realise you've been able to do this ever since they introduced the minibike?
Minibike is a tad harder to craft than the bike. Apart from higher skills, you also need more materials (at the point you make a bike it doesn't matter though). I'm counting on the possibility to find vehicles in POIs, at least at some point.

Also, i find it quite funny to launch Zs high into the air with a mere bicycle :D

You've never been out on the sidewalks of Boston, Mass. during the morning commute. The bicyclists treat all pedestrians like zeds. It's war out there, man... :D
