PC Best way to spend the Blood Moon night and live

We need apples in the game.
More fruit in general, i think. Pears, oranges, grapes, etc.

Also fish or other types of seafood, maybe? Traps for crabs, lobsters, or something that spawns oysters or shrimp? Then, new recipes! :)

With all you ppl avoiding Z's this way, for the next patch the pimps will leash us to a pole with only a loincloth and a lvl 1 knife

Or runecrafting, or maybe magic. or what about pickpocketing... Oh wait.. what game are we talking about?

Reminds me of my Valmod A16 playthrough, where 90% of my Z kills were with hunting knife/machete 😁 even blood moon 😁

Fun aside, there are so many hardships and people will always complain about something. Platform on columns arena is valid from many alphas, just like running away in your vehicle or hiding near bedrock.

Some things are getting more extreme (which i find as a great challenge), but there are ways (less than in A16 for sure) to survive. You just have to be creative.

I would google "how to build a good blood moon defense" and learn to play properly.

Don't get me wrong I have spent many a night back in the day running around the map with a horde in tow as I drank a couple grain alcohol until dawn hit but you get to the point when you just wonder, "wtf did I buy this game if all I am going to do is cheese the main mechanic?"

Hah!

The problem is that in 7D you can do so many things and with the lack of any challenge in A16 every play style on the planet would work.

Now it's more of a first person shooter, survival horror, tower defense and role-playing game and a few people are going nuts over the "change" of the game more closely resembling what it is being advertised as.

Riding the bike is definitively not without risk. I've died about 25% of the time. In my base biome it's very dark through parts of the night, and I inevitably get hung up on something, or I get careless. It's both nerve-wracking and boring riding out the night, but it beats watching zombie engineers directing their subordinates to dissect my shack* (formerly known as "fortress").

*

Zombie worker1: He ran up an ramp and then escaped when he raised an elaborate drawbridge mechanism to prevent our chase. Should we destroy the ramp or the drawbridge?

Zombie engineer1: The ramp is not our target, and you'll find the drawbridge is out of our reach. His heat signature clearly indicates he's in the large stone structure somewhere.

Zombie worker1: Got it! Destroying large structure.

Zombie engineer1: Remember your training...breech the wall, but quickly duck away from the one block egress you've created.

Zombie worker2: That's ingress, sir. Couldn't we climb through...

Zombie engineer1: Don't start that again #2, just avoid it so you don't get shot! I want you all coming home to your wives and mothers. Remember, working as a team is more efficient than just doing it yourself. Now...give 'em hell!

Zombie workers: Huzzah!

What's the opposite of an exploit?...when you active your very first tier II mission in front of a house and two irradiated ferals burst out of the front door immediately. Don't forget to stay within! :upset:

{Edit} No complaints by the way....thoroughly enjoying most of this shtuff! :)

That is abit harsh! The feed back is coming from some of your most loyal player base! Who have played 7d2d for years and never felt the need to post anything on the forums before

Suddenly the the game has done a big 360 and you do not expect any one to have problems with it.

Basically the forum is pointless to express any personal negative opinion on the game now as people are supposedly going "NUTS" over it!

The only people I have seen going nuts are the ones flaming those who raise what they believe to be valid concerns of certain aspects of the game play i.e. level perk system with level gating being one of the biggest. I for one feel the level perk system is locked in a very bad way magazines are just silly the stamina/food is not great, death hour is tedious

The game is much cleaner fresher looking (needs opti tho badly as did every other version)

new vehicles fantastic.

At the end of the day it is your game. If you do not want to listen to concerns what ever!

I forget what alpha I bought 7d2d in and I can still play what version I like is a good thing

Ps. Is playing in god mode viewed as an exploit ot editing xml files?

You are confusing posts written by fans with motives by TFP themselves. TFP didn’t want to stop people from building underground. They wanted to increase the challenge of building underground.
Just because some other customers wrote that people should be stopped from going underground doesn’t mean they spoke for TFP.

TFP simply is finishing their game and making sure every biome has threats and challenges. The Forest biome has threats but you can still play there and it isn’t pointless. The underworld now has threats and it also is neither impossible to play in or pointless.

Not saying your wrong about how you feel about the change. You’re just wrong about why the change happened. Carry on. :)
The problem is they over did it, a zombie shouldn't be able to hear thru 40-50 blocks of rock/ground, no matter what I am doing down there. I mean I've had zombies 100 blocks away outside of the poi I was in, somehow hear me and beeline it to me. I literally watched him go from wandering around aimlessly to suddendly heading right for me on the 2nd floor like a blood hound. I was crouched, in a pitch black room, looking out a tiny window, and not even moving, yet it still somehow detected me from 100+ blocks away and then knew exactly where I was. I get they wanna make it more challenging, but the zombies are getting to be way to psychic for my liking. Also zombies should have a very hard time finding you at night even if you make noise, at least inside a poi with how dark they can be now.

Guys guys...you are forgetting the strongest exploit yet. Your healthy pair of legs. You can run faster than any zombie. You can even gain some distance and w8 a few sec for stamina to regen (while collecting trash and feathers around). And then keep running. I have ignored 2 bloodmoons this way already. And only with 1 level of cardio.

Ok that was good, and its true, the zombies in most things move so slow and make so much noise that they shouldn't be able to sneak up on or catch anyone, and like he said, you could crawl and move faster than most zombies.

I would say its a bit less of a tower defense and more a destruction simulator for how fast zombies chew thru any materials. In a tower defense your tower can usually last more than 2 minutes.

Of course. Rule 1...
Neither of the "running" options are completely without risk so... what's the problem?
No complaints from me. More like a semi wasted 15 minutes of my time ofc, but then I have 6 hours/days to play however I want, so no problems there.

Would have still prefered old good "Make a good solid base, that can handle bloodmoon by itself, and wouldnt require full day of repairs after".

Those are the cons? What about that the main focus of this game is (or was) building defenses? This is what made this game the best survival game out there. If defenses arent useful now, the game isnt good anymore. (not saying they are useless, just saying "if" they are. I havent had enough time to test yet)

I'm sure some of you might not accept this solution, but i find it hilarious and also quite interesting. So take it with as much irony, as it is currently valid ;)
THE ONE AND ONLY SOLUTION FOR BLOOD MOON HORDE IS... Hop onto your bicycle and ride as fast as possible!

PROS:

1. With even minimal upgrades to your stamina (Rule 1 Cardio) you can ride indefinitely!

2. You are faster than any zombie!

3. You can ram through zombies! Several rams and regular Zs will fall dead! Even Cops will be pushed towards exploding! Simply watch them fly!

4. Your base will be safe as you show zombies the middle finger, the other hand steering the bicycle on these beautiful roads!

5. If hit a couple times, speed up to ride a bit further from the enemies and open inventory, there you can use items as usual, even bandages!

CONS:

1. Need lots of materials, as well as a workbench and skills to craft the bicycle parts and the bicycle.

2. Small rocks, wood trunks, garbage and anything you can ram could decrease bicycle HP.

3. Look out for big obstacles like trees, cars, cacti or boulders - they will stop you in your tracks!

4. Don't get slowed down to a group, they still can hit you!

5. Irradiated zombies regenerate faster than you could damage them, making them only a constant target for ramming.

6. Cop zombies can still hit you with their puke! They will sometimes even try when thrown into the air, so look out!

7. MOST IMPORTANTLY! No XP from killing zombies on a bike...

Valid strategy later on in the game when you do find appropriate materials and have the skills. As Blood Moon is increasingly too powerful, you can simply ride along till morning and get XP from regular zombies (no loot so what's the difference?). Even if it's going to be patched out somehow, i'm sure only riding along will still be valid.

I'd love to hear your opinions on the matter!
You don't even need the bike to get away from the zombies. During horde nights my wife and I just spend the majority of the night running from them on foot. You are faster than the zombies are and can outrun them if you want to. This is with 1 point in Cardio and that's it. We run until our stamina gets lowered, turn around and shoot arrows at them while our stamina refills, and then turn around and run some more when they get too close. In the morning when we are done with them we just keep running and we eventually put enough distance between us and them that they stop following us.

Now it´s more of a FPS and a little tiny bit of the rest you mentioned. Survival changed, but stays negligible (no more challenge once you figured it out, it´s really just learning the basics of the game), RPG elements might come, but right now it´s only the existence of levels and skillpoints. Basebuilding got even more grindy. The tower defense part is best played like an FPS it seems and not with an actual "tower" . (ofc traps, and fortifications are still a must, but they are more of a helping hand)

Killing is THE way to get XP. You play this like a FPS and get the fastest way to level. Tested that and can´t even go up one level on a 90min day without Zombies.

There shouldn´t be one superfast and a lot of superslow ways to level in a Genre-mix.

If that trend goes on, this will be a purebred FPS with a lot of grinding and a few elements of other genres.

(I assume the early spawining of guns and ammo, isn´t just bad balance or a bug, but another clue that it will become even more FPS heavy in future)
