They can't jump at all. They can crawl up 1 block, and that's it.I used plates in my experiment and they worked very well.

Well, usually zombies in movie are depicted as brainless creatures. They do not move like humans and sometimes they prefer to smash stuff rather than to circle it, or climb over it. So yeah, zombies that do not jump are not necessarily bad AI...it is simply AI exploitation, looks like we need a patch to let the zombies jump up and finish you off

This looks awesome. Totally gonna use it. One question though. Why leave the underneath open for crawlers and dogs? Seems the great part is the zeds cant jump up. Could you just have blocks the whole was and simply put half blocks on top?Hi guys,I would like to share with you what I consider to be the best horde night defense system.
I survived 100 days with this in a dead is dead game.
PROS:
- easy to build
- cheap
- gives 100% of experience to the player
- works with any material
- easy to maintain
- no need for bullets
CONS:
- you actively need to defend during horde night
- crawlers and dogs get stuck under the structure, but you can fix this with spikes
Any material is OK, but I suggest cobblestone for week 1, concrete week 2, steel week 3...

- keep smashing their skulls as they come, don't let them break your blocks
- keep repairing as blocks are damaged
- keep looting
The top layer is made of slabs, so you can easily JUMP UP and down, but zombies can't reach you.

I tried the full blocks all the way under to the outside in a creative world and the zombies were getting up. Not sure how, seemed like a glitch.Hey what's up Kage!Zombies could destroy a half block, then jump on the block, that is below the one just destroyed, and reach you.
However filling everything would probably work anyway, because once you've reached steel they break nothing, cause you kill them faster.
So yes, good idea! (maybe avoid it for week 1 or 2 when you have flagstone)

I’ve tried this on a day 7 horde and it worked well. I would put some wood spikes around the center column. The zombies are likely to break some of the half blocks. Also, when you build it on terrain you can have some leveling issues with one side being higher then the other. So I would either create a solid block floor, use wood frames to level the entire area first, or build it on a road.This looks awesome. Totally gonna use it. One question though. Aw man, i seen this too late i think..... i just recently started a new game after taking a break for a few weeks when i lost my entire game save. I am on day 7 now and just finished fortifying the police station to bunk in for horde night..... i still have a few hours before the horde though, so maybe i can still give this a try. the experience would be nice! After using this platform for 3 horde days, I still haven't died once. So it's a very solid defense. It does have a major weakness though, and that is the ■■■■ dogs pushing other zeds up. On day 21 this happened about a dozen times. It can be mitigated somewhat by running around on the platform, dragging them underneath (where there are spikes to kill them). But since defense is performed on the edge of the platform, there's a large risk associated with actively defending if there are any dogs in the horde.
This has nothing to do with terrain height. I have a 2-block buffer of flat concrete at ground level around the platform, so there's no minor hills or other things for the zeds to climb up. They can also, somewhat paradoxically climb on top of each other if they remove some platform and lose their legs to spikes. They're easier to deal with when incapped like this, of course. The biggest risk is a sprinting zed on the platform stun-locking the player.
My spikes are like in point A, not B, and NO zombie has ever managed to get on the platform.![]()
Also destroying quickly gore blocks (point C) may help.
