PC Awesome seeds for random gen ALPHA 17.0-.1

Town at 0,0 has so many planted crops you will never starve on this map

 
I am NOT a fan of the way the new maps generate. Snow Forest/burned then dessert on the bottom .. boring. ALSO every town has a LARGE number of buildings that remind me of wasteland buildings / destroyed. I haven't found any skyscrapers or other really unique buildings yet. Almost every poi is either a tiny house or a new survivor camp. What happened to all the new buildings and POIs? and why.. why do we have forest with patches of burned all through it?? I guess I will play Nazgane for now :( I sure do miss A16 map gen.
From what's i've been reading around here, the devs know there's something off with the town and POI generation (specifically, with large buildings but i'm guessing they know other issues people are having as well). I'd give it a little time, hopefully will be fixed relatively soon.

Far as biomes, i understand what they're trying to do, but, those need a little work. Part of me is just really happy not having vast expanses of wasteland everywhere, like on consoles, where it's randomly placed and dogs just suck lol. I know some ppl really like wastelands, but not something so out of control.

 
On Random gen "Harrishouse" We have found a little snow in the north , have found no desert yet at all ;-( might be switching maps. When we pull up the full view map in previewer the map looks great, tons of desert and snow, but we seem to be completely surrounded by radiation and can't get to the desert at all. Anyone else having this issue?

Super dumb question here. Gportal forums have posts of people with the RWG not generating being stuck at the generation state. How are you getting these to generate? Do the old a16 seeds work for a17? Are these being generated at the single player level?

 
I think it is safe to say... these seeds are only temporary.

I am not going to get too invested in a certain map at this point. It is subject to change.

When the omission of skyscrapers gets fixed, rest assured I will be rerolling my maps.

I dont know if those people are experiencing bugs or other tech issues, but it doesn't seem to be terribly pervasive so far. I know when i generate a new random, it takes a few minutes for it to completely render and start, but i'm not using a top of the line setup either.

The old seeds, from what i've seen, don't look the same way because of the tripod state of maps (snow up top, forest in the middle, desert on bottom). The only variance i've seen in randoms is the amount of each, along with how much of it is burned forest or wasteland (which usually isn't much at all). I showed one seed early on that had zero desert, and was mostly green with a little snow. Just depends on the seed, but the only difference is how much of the 3 biomes are present and their shape.

Also, yes. I only play single player (though i'm tempted to do some mp for a bit, maybe one day), and things seem to generate (as they do, at present) without any problem.

 
right now with map size being locked at 4096 map seeds dont matter maps to small for a good seed in my opinion


Not true sir. You can go anywhere from 1k to 16k if you edited the serverconfig manually or used the RAT server tool so unless your locked into a game hosted server like Gportal you should be able to change these settings.

You forget A16 was predictable boring towns only much farther apart.

I'm giving that a try, thanks for the suggestion.

 
Blue Fang Solutions is offering up to 12k maps now with a qualifying tier subscription. That is who is hosting my 12k map server.

 
So I have not messed with seeds yet I. Alpha 17. Is that ma op previewer just like a16? Like just to show you the map seed? So if I take a seed off someone here i just plug it in the seed option on game creation, just like normal?

 
Seed = Trader Jen (smallest map size)

Mountains with rivers/lakes that run through them, settled in an area with no less than 5 traders all within half a click of each other in wilderness surrounded by large snow towns to the north and a huge desert town to the south with basic towns to the east and west. Area I'm settled in with all the trader access is somewhat east of center, in the green zone in the middle. Plenty of areas map-wide where the rivers and lakes cut through the mountains if you missed that about A16. More hilly/mountainous than other seeds I've tried which were oddly flat everywhere.

Pretty much. The previewer is a bit more high-resolution than a16, so it will take a bit longer to load. Make note of the region in the previewer if you plan on using the seed for your next game. Astora seems to be a pretty balanced one for this stage of experimental (with a nice slew of traders directly south of 0,0 in the desert biome).
