wait...did you really just say that a trajectory outline is teletubby stuff and too unrealistic for this game, and then sketch an idea with visible dots and blocks that start to blink as a solution?

Excuses my dear sir, I just can't follow you. 🤔

make a model that these non-interactable deco/filler boxes look obviously opened, e.g. open lids, a little squashed, dented, scratched, whatever...these then can only be harvested for a little paper. When you look at them you should immediately think "nothing left there but the empty shell"

-keep current "neatly stacked boxes" and make them lootable containers, with a limited loot table like <15 scrap polymer, <10 clothes, <10 scrap iron and stuff. Nothing "overpowered", but still useful at least at the beginning. Like a bigger/better version of the regular trash piles on the ground.

It might look a little weird for a warehouse to be full of open boxes, but I'd be cool with this if they were to do it. My hope is the block name for the current blocks would be used for the "open" boxes so that we don't have to visit each POI and replace all the blocks. Then you could have new block names for the closed ones.

For the backroom storage/delivery/receiving goods area it would in fact fit perfectly.

Just ask you local stores if you may take a look

Sure, maybe for a store, but not universally. When I worked at a hardware store a long, long time ago boxes coming off the truck were not opened unless the item was going on the floor. Back in the stocks, everything remained boxed so that it didn't get dusty or damaged. The most likely thing to be sitting around open was a reusable plastic tub in which small items were shipped. The closest block we have to in the game that would be a shopping basket, but that would look weird having a bunch of those laying around in a POI.

For a large active manufacturer's or distributor's warehouse a bunch of open boxes doesn't look right. When I once worked at a business that shipped things, the boxes were either sitting there all sealed up waiting on transportation, or the boxes were flat ready to be assembled. Only an order that was being filled had an open box. The shelves full of goods in inventory were all in closed boxes.

My store I work in has one!

But only a cardboard box one

Maybe in the future they take recycling super seriously

So much so where plastic blinds are made of toothpaste tubs and bottles! :)

Lots of grocery stores have cardboard balers in their receiving / warehouse areas.
I have one of those for my hopes and dreams about procedural cave POIs. Do you have any info on the subject? Loving the new POIs, but extensive underground exploration is extremely appealing for many. I have yet to meet a fellow player online that dislikes the idea.

I think the Rotten Caverns are the closest we've gotten as of recent. Some more that are based off of Arizona's cave systems would be quite cool too.

I got a feeling tho around October 20th to 22 is when we will get the dev diary

Because of twitch con. I hope to God not cuz that's a long time

Some angled version of the pipe would be great. or some variations of the Ibeam small, like some curved pieces or angles or make some kind of railroad track pieces....
