@madmole Hi. Alpha 20 should be out soon, can you give us some details on these points? If I missed them, may be it make sense to update the information in the first post of this discussion? Thank you.

 
am i crazy or something but in 19.5 to 19.6 it feels like my pc handles bigger pois much better now has someone snuck some surprise optimizations in? 😂 

becuase nothing has been changed or upgraded but now suddenly i get less fps drops when around big pois even the sky scrapers now 
I have an opposite problem. I have massive fps drops in my base at around 23 o clock. It drops from 50fps to 20. After midnight it goes back to normal. Playing on random map and even changed the time with settime (it worked), but almost every day is the same problem. Anyone had the same ?

It's the GameSpark server: resets at midnight.

I don't recall the specific time offhand this happens but is it possible that the issue is the setting sun casting long shadows?

 
Hmm I'll check it. It happens only when I'm in or near my base
You can try settings shadows to off or lower while it is happening and see how much better it gets.

Pretty sure they are POIs. EDIT: ... and it seems that is wrong

The interesting question (asking Faatal here) is: Can a subway POI stack with a building above it if it has no basement ?
I'm pretty sure the sewers are just part of the POI, so only certain POIs would have them. I don't think POIs can stack.

How about animals not having a visual effect if you light them on fire? :)

Couldn't the tile system be abused to handle it?  Set an underground district or whatever, then push those pois' y-offset down to ground level accounting for poi height, then allow placement of pois on top?

...this idea compiles in my head. 😃

Most of these details will be revealed in the devstreams which should be starting up real soon.

Not sure how far back the original post is but it was explained with lawyer precision lmao.

 
please implement the Vulkan API mode, with it the performance will be several times better than direct x 11, on the Valkan API I now have pink textures

Any chance we could get more pics of new rwg? Maybe areas other than the cities shown so far?

 
Will SP and dedi generate the same world for the same seed with the same settings on alpha 20? If not, could some command line option be added to SP to generate a world then exit?

I have a script I use to generate hundreds of random seeds to choose from but it has to rely on AutoHotKey to interact with the GUI of SP, which sucks in many ways. I used to generate a seed using dedi but had to stop doing so when SP and dedi diverged. Nowadays I have to add that caveat when sharing seeds, and explain to people how to copy a world from SP to the server.

True...true...but I can tell you that I have heard Lathan, Rick, and Joel all remark that it is time for dev streams to start up again. They are ready to start showing stuff so this time soon really does mean soon.

Do you have any info on the release method? "latest_experimental" betas have been missing from Steam for some time now, do we know if this is going to stay the case for the A20 release cycle? Or is a Stable version getting released directly?
