Maybe next he could remove hatches because they are used as building plate armor and 4000 of them in base cuts fps to single digits. Then doors, drawbridges and maybe all stations too. /s But seriously, anything that is not a cube can be abused to drop performance.

Unlike coffee makers, hatches actually has a functional use beside "looking pretty" in your base.  Nice try though lol...

Is this creative or you guys really went out there, gathering all the resources to do such a wack a zombie thing ? How it went ?

P.S. I am curious, don`t mind others.

Ah, day 399, keep on creating.

No insult intended at all. You fulfill your role, Devs fulfill their's.

By MM's own words we cannot have the vanilla coffee maker (not anything a modder did) because it eats too many textures. Same goes for all the paints we lost.

But it is and has been. MM himself said we cannot have the coffeemaker because it east up textures and would slow down the game itself. Same reason we lost paints. Fact is graphics HAVE cost us gameplay elements.
You never had the coffee pot, you never lost the coffee pot. It doesn't eat up too much texture space by itself, but if a person started placing every skinned mesh in their base it might cause blurry textures because of low vram. The bigger issue is someone spam crafting coffee pots and placing one every meter which is 5 million polygons in one chunk to troll other players and bring server FPS to a crash because that is what children do. So for those two reasons players will never get high polygon blocks they can place.

Ultimately someone will make a mod that allows coffee workstations, fridges, etc. I'll probably mod my own game to do it when we're gold, but for the masses it isn't worth solving all the problems, and is more of a small niche feature that not everyone would want. It is better to keep it simple and just craft coffee in your campfire, and one workstation isn't worth designing and training players on just for coffee.

oh  you mean all those paints removed  in a17 ? same alpha that drastically worsened perfomance (cpu/gpu/ram wise)?

well considering how the small amount of textures left in game that still run quite awfull (and can bloat to 20GB+ ram after prolonged gameplay despite denial of  memory leaks)

its probably time to search whats rotten inside instead limiting textures.. zombie spawns ... cofee makers or anything else
Paints cannot stream so there will always be a limited number of those available. We do want to figure out tinting though so we don't waste space on 10 different flavors of concrete, carpet etc and that would give us seemingly hundreds more paints for free, and reduce atlas overhead dramatically.

Not exactly. What madmole said is that they don't want people crafting coffeemakers because they will abuse it and destroy the performance of servers by crafting and placing hundreds of them. Not the same situation with the graphical improvement of the zombies, which come with performance improvements on their own too.
The new zombies run faster than the old ones in many cases, because we optimized the uvs to not be an island of 1000 uvs. Polygons are fast, uv islands are not.

Well it is pvp server, and we had roughly 20 active teammates + our russian allies, so total steel production was probably counted in thousands at that moment. Placing 4000 legit hatches was not a big deal, I am attaching tower that once was hatch plated from inside (but we had to call admin to help remove it, because it caused huge fps problems). Zombies were barely active due to ai calculations problems, besides we had a spike pit. On that previous pic you have seen an attack structure (hatched roof bunker, so no players can dig down into your raid base and such).

Oh, that is a good one  :D

Sry, sounds like an eastern block article in the newspaper to prove something by builiding and exploiting.

They were 100% legit, despite reputation :D
Don`t mind that. it is impressive work. AI and whole game is still a work in progress, why not building bigger and having fun, trying to find out whats good and bad. Keep it on.

Its pretty darn impressive.... I have to ask, what do you put in a tower that tall?
Cheers, and this will dissapoint you, except shooting positions, 90% of tower is solid steel with tiny craft room and bunch of safes in middle (so is hard to dig down into from the top, and hard to stair up into it if you managed to cut all spikes and dried turrets at base). So nothing fancy inside.

Thanks, yeah 7 days is best pvp game (with vanilla balance close to perfection, scales well with dozens of people), too bad people are leaving (due to collision exploits) to play Rust instead.

While y'all are having fun and all, I found Jim passed out on his bed this morning. He had been missing the entire night after he had went to a bar with his mates, so I'm glad he made it home safe.

Meh....people have supposedly been leaving 7 Days in droves to play Rust instead for almost seven years now....
Well, out of 70 ppl in my friends list, pretty much 65 went for it permamently (7 days is only game I bough, back in 2001 when Red Faction came out some of us thought that blowing holes in everything will be a new standard xD ).

Well...you AND the devs.

Yeah Rust single player and coop is so exciting. 🤪 Don't get me wrong I like Rust and have a lot of hours, but the only thing it does good is pvp. They should be stealing our pvp fans since we have put 0 effort into pvp so far. Once sp features are done I will get into pvp and do some balancing.

I don't care for the constant maintenance they added to your base. You have to stuff high quality metal into your cupboard to prevent the decay of your steel base, etc. So it becomes a grind to maintain a small fort. I get why it should decay since they don't have voxels and old abandoned bases should decay to keep servers running good but I think the new design is worse than before where you just had to log on every so often to prevent decay. Imagine building a steel base and having  it suck all the forged steel out of your chests just to keep the health bars from degrading in 7 days. It would suck. Repair is bad enough but an ongoing cost makes it so you can't casually play, you have to be playing every night for hours to maintain a small base. I used to slowly build large bases all by myself and go up against teams of dudes, that just isn't possible anymore. The big clan wins because they can afford a larger more secure base because they have 20 guys grinding resources daily.
