Well since I'm in charge, the solution is degradation.
Every repair makes it a little... Less. Might sound harsh, but purple repairs to blue, etc. Brown repairs to brown. To offset the harshness, reduce the degradation speed.

I think it was like that once, or similar.

That'll allow for the thrill of finding a purple, and the need to keep looking for another one.

...hell if you could make it so that lower level players degrade the items more than experienced players, you'd have a total win.

Hell, a repair skill can offset the penalty.
Call it the Mechanic Perk line. Not to completely eliminate degradation, but to greatly reduce it.

Other things could be the mechanic perk reduces fuel consumption in vehicles/generators. Also adds durability to vehicles/weapons.

A strong perk set for sure.

That's pretty good, but have you ever gone in with maxed out stealth, fallen through the weak floor, land, nerd pole back up while still stealthed, and then 1 shot or pull and kill 15 ferals/rads 1 by 1 from stealth? It was at that moment I realized that maxed out stealth with the new books for landing quietly, jumping full height while crouched, and not making noise when running over trash was broken :p .

But it's prolly fine since you can do things like you did there (kill it whiff FIRE!) or just raw dog DPS them with other stats.

 
I've just discovered something very interesting. If you put 3 points into Intellect (and let your Nerdy Glasses grant you the final Intellect point), and put three points into Better Barter, the traders will have a better secret stash. Take the glasses off however, and you won't meet the Intellect requirement to have Better Barter 3 of 5, so the trader will have a different stock. If you follow this approach, every time your traders restock, they will have not one, but two secret stashes available for you to search.

DUDE nice find, sadly it will probably be patched now lol.

 
Is it normal, that higher terrain is rendered like this ?I can see this effect coming with higher altitude, visible best in the snow biome, but also occuring in other biomes.

It happens around 140-150 altitude and gets worse in higher regions.

Happens with a custom map based on a TGA. Will test now if the random generated ones show the same too.

Or is that a bad setup of my GPU ? (AMD RX590 8GB)

I've run into the same issue. But I'm guessing it's because I used Nitrogen to generate my latest world. I only ever saw it when I was flying around in God mode exploring the world before I settled on one I like.

 
Am I missing something, or are there no bug reporting threads for the a18 experimental builds? I wanted to report what looks like a memory leak and the dev diary thread doesn't seem like the place for it.

No, but I have landed on top of a zombie once (going full stealth) and it didn't wake up. :p

 
Its been suggested before. I hate it in rust and their weapons are generic af compared to ours. Maybe as an option, but it would require a fair bit of work because if it downgraded to the next color, we'd have to lock out a mod. How do you decide which mod to lock? I suppose bottom to the top so players put their least desirable mod in the bottom or something. We'd have to communicate why its like that, etc. Its quite a bit of work for something we don't need IMO. Again, its just a matter of balance.
Sure is possible to balance the probability to find an "high level item" but after you find it, the item is here to stay forever, no reason to continue to loot parts or crafting except repair kit.

If lowering the stats/quality of a weapon/item(degradation) isn't see like a good thing maybe a different solution can be upgrading weapon, after a balance of probability of find a tier.

For example with looting you find a pistol tier 6 do 20 damage(random numbers only to do an example).

You can upgrade with crafting, for example creating an item like an "upgrade kit"(obtained with schematic/high level skill point), this item raise damage of +2 every time to max to 40.

Looting continue to be important for finding the specific materials needed to crafting "upgrade kit"(maybe weapons/item class specific like the Parts introduced in A18), crafting is important to boosting stats of weapons/tool.

Surely will be not easy to balanced it, but i think can be a way to give people a reason to crafting/looting even after find an high level item like t6 or in future legendary.

 
So, any chance of getting manual ADS option back for hunting rifle? (and whatever other guns lock you into ADS after taking a shot)

Yes, Bob Ross! (Thanks for the reminders, will look and see if his show is on Youtube). I heard his family didn't sell any of his paintings, because they loved him and that's what he wanted. Just a really good guy.

No, no, i'm playing SP. Is not that, wiggle your rifle (don't do it DaVega) in game and compare the fps of the rifle and the fps of the rest of the game to see what I mean.
Oh I'm wiggling like crazy, my friend :)
