I really enjoy playing A18, it got me hooked to the game again.

Maybe the ragdolling effect after being hit by a bullet should be reduced a not? Or is it natural to shoot a coyote with a hunting gun, after which it flies 20 m into the air (straight up). I mean.. i'm a geologist, so I don't know much about physics of course :)

Is there any truth to the suggestion that the AF issue popped up between the b134 (streamer build) - b139 (experimental)?

We already looked over the changes. Texture loading and shaders were not changed between those builds.
On streamer weekend I was watching Asrac_tv, he avoided the desert biome because of very low fps, sometimes in the single digits.

In other biomes he was fine. As noted on his Youtube page he's using an I7 with GTX 980 / 4 GB, not high end but also not such a potato.

So I think the issue was already in b134.

regarding the farm plot changing. Is that just the farm plot already exist in the world not going to drop when you dig them or the one you make too?

I tend to upgrade my base and move them around if needed. It cost a hell lot of resource to make and it would be suck if you destroy them instead of getting them back.

Tehe, and those 3 have a 50% chance to summon another one too, right? I still haven't met one, but I just did my day 21 horde.
You better get a supply of armor-piercing ammo. These guys are real tanks. The damage of normal ammunition is reduced by 40% and hollow point bullets do no damage at all.

Turn on god mode and clip through walls to find it.
Regarding missing backpacks, I died in a game of A18 b139 (I think, the previous one anyway) and went to the backpack marker. There was nothing there, it was in the desert outdoors so no roofs or anything. I used god mode to clip downwards to look below to see if it sunk somewhere or something but even though I could always see the marker the backpack was never to be found. I lost all of my best items and just deleted that game and have since been playing no drops.

@Laz Man
Did a little further testing in the snow biom. After doing a bunch of combinations of graphic settings, and eventually ending up in turning almost everything off, shadows, reflection, ssao, shadow reflection etc. Regardless of the graphic settings, the drop in frames always happened. The only thing I cannot seem to turn off is whatever the heck governs this effect (sorta looks like lighting and reflections should govern this)see pics. Whatever that specific effect is called, i lack the terminology, might have something to do with the drop in fps. Further testing needed...

Observation note: Did not see any noticeable drop in frames from fog and snow weather effects in my game.

I am having a FPS drop in the desert when I have textures up to full. In the forest biome I have around 35 to 65 usually 45 to 50 FPS but I drop to around 15 FPS in the desert. I haven't been around the snow biomes yet with full textures so I have no ides if I suffer FPS drops there as well. I only get those drops when I have full textures set, on half I don't have any FPS drops at all but the game looks bad.

There's an interesting topic in "General Discussion", I want to link it here for visibility. Looting vs Crafting

Cliffs :

- the game has shifted from crafting everything to actually crafting nothing (in terms of tools & weapons)

- main problems are not being able to "keep up" with the pace of looting (especially in stuff you don't specialize in), and even if you keep up with the pace (in terms of crafting quality vs looting quality), you'll probably lack parts and find the desired quality before you get enough parts to craft it

- this makes a whole segment of the game (tool & weapon crafting) basically useless even though it has a lot of potential, and most stuff you find isn't even worth to scrap for parts given you'll have no use for them

Some ideas:

- buff the quality bonus by 1 for all the ranks, i.e. instead of crafting Q1 items with the first point, actually craft Q2 (rank 5 should still not enable Q6 crafting). Right now you need 3 points to craft level 2 stuff, it's simply not sustainable and worth it unless you plan on specializing in the item

- find more stacks of parts (3-6) and a bit less complete items

- make crafted gear have randomized stats, in the 25%-75% range, effectively making a crafting item "never a bad roll but never top gear either"

- maybe adding book series that effectively increase your crafting quality by 1 for a specific item type could alleviate the uselessness of parts for items you don't plan to specialize in

I have not been to desert yet. Does the ground in the desert have a reflective/shiny surface as it does in snow biom?

Yeah I tend to paint tunnel entrances on the side of a mountain as a quick getaway :)
@mm

request for addition to the game.

acme loot crate that holds a trap that has a random (surprising) effect.

probably only able to be installed on the edge of a big cliff.

or at the bottom of a big cliff where there are loose boulders.

maybe has to be loaded with an anvil...

+1

For the book series: maybe not better rank of crafting, but shifting the randomizing towards the upper end

Try teleporting to 0,0,0 that's where the backpack teleported previously

Thanks for the heads up, I just threw a makeshift version of my hordebase on day 28 morning time, don't have any ammo but ill def not put the outer-most layer of wood bars so I can lob molys or grenades at him if he shows haha. This horde night should be fun. Looted a bunch of great stuff in my recent run, got tons of schematics. Man the cathedral POI is amazingly cool, much props to the designers behind that one. Having way too much fun with the game.

I did run into the trader's secret stash vanishing bug that others have reported... in fact I got there with my 20k tokens for the motorcycle he was selling only to see his entire stash vanish before my eyes :( I cheated in one from the CM and threw 20k tokens at the trader lol.

Cant wait to get home tomorrow and do this horde night!

There is no way a screamer will spawn with what you are describing. I built a 10x10 base and upgraded a lot of blocks, etc and mine constantly and have never spawned a screamer. It takes 2 forges, 4 torches and a campfire about 12 hours to get one to come, and once you kill her it will take a long time again to get the next one. Are you cutting down 500 trees in that area?
It might be more time of day but a lot of times it is just simply as easy as opening a chest to eat & drink, there she is again kind of thing.

I'm only on day 3 & don't like prefab 03, gonna try 02 & I will track her spawns next game.

This is not a new complaint of mine, I have mentioned this from the day she was put into the game.

I honestly don't think she was needed, she took the Spiders job as a scout for the Wandering Horde.

I would like to see more Wandering Hordes with a scout than this screaming witch. Why is a screaming witch in a Z game anyway.

I am the 1st to criticize turning off a Z in a Z game but she isn't really a Z now is she...

Burn her at the Pointy Stick...

She is not game breaking for me but again it's the annoyance of being bothered by her all the time.

What do I do when a game annoys me? I stop playing it as do others.

Notice anything wrong with this picture?

It was also impossible to complete. Even went into DM mode and checked from top to bottom for the chest and nothing. Earlier I had a chest spawn under a road next to a house, kinda seems unintended maybe?

I'm really enjoying A18 so far.
The only little niggles I have found so far are the wood texture for wood frames etc seems a little bit too light.I'm no sure if that is a bug or it's supposed to be like that though. Oh and the door for the trader in Navesgane, near the bear bar sometimes shows as black. Would that be worth putting in the bugs forum, or is that too small and obvious an issue?

The other one is that the laser sight pointer is really small and not bright enough IMO.
It's an issue with reflection quality.

Turn it off (or on, then apply, then off, then apply) and the world will be beautiful again.

I've to do that everytime I launch my game.
