- The animals generally have a lot of HP. I used 5 arrows and about 7 hits with the spear to kill a wild boar. A Lama (?) needed 2 arrows in the head and 3 in the body to die.

Uh, llama? Lolol, the new deer are kind of weird looking, I actually like the old ones more, from A16. Maybe it's the textures more than anything, these are much lighter in color, the old ones were darker, had better shading/coloration imho. But a llama? Funny.

I've got what the kids would call "a gaming potato". AMD FX 8350, SSD (with the game installed there), 16gb of RAM, with a Radeon R7 360 2gb video card. So far with Alpha 18, I've experienced no game killing bugs, and I get a decent framerate on medium settings. The only bugs I've encountered are that i cannot open the video settings menu on the main menu, which I chalk up to the Radeon issues everyone else is seeing, and the fact that the stuffed animals show blank in my inventory.

I ordered a new video card yesterday (Nvidia 1660ti 6gb MSI GamerX). I'm sure that will improve it even more.

Kudos to the whole Pimp staff! Thank you for continuing to work on my favorite game since Diablo 2.

I like this alpha. Melee is now a real challenge. I got infected on the second day, and there are no antibiotics and honey, the merchant also (I play with 25% loot)
Even at 100% I wasn't able to find antibiotics (day 4 dusk now). And tree stumps with honey I found only 6, even on my hunting run. That slows infection a bit, but isn't enough to cure because I'm nearing 45%

But on the other hand I found 5 books of the same series (Nightstalker) including the 'no encumbrance at night'

that would be cool to add some new animals like the coyote and mountain lion

moose , black bears , Wolverines , bison , cows , hawks , gators , bighorn sheep , bobcats and pronghorn

and sub types of animals like dire bears , dire lions Etc

What is that block you use to craft wood furniture now? The wood helper block? Furniture something? I've typed everything I can think of into my crafting menu and I cannot find it...

I’m pretty sure it’s the wood furniture block.

Odd; it's not showing up. Do you need to craft it in the workbench or tablesaw or something?

Found it in the CM menu. Wooden Furniture. Not showing up in the default crafting menu. Huh.

EDIT: Found it in the default crafting menu. Odd that the icon for it is a park bench. *Shrugs*

haha thanks! That was the name I've been searching for :D I liked the old one of A16 also more but heyho they give you meat so I don't bother that much.

I like the new animals, only seen one cougar so far. Was hunting a deer, shot it once and it actually saved me from the cougar, who went after it instead of me, I was unknowingly headed straight for it. I imagine, and hope, that it is silent when moving, as it should be, making it extra lethal. It was too hectic and there were lumberjacks stomping around so I couldn't tell at the time. They've improved the overall sound a ton in general, no more stealth zombies, thank god, but that cougar should be silent. I also saw some coyotes, and heard them ahead of time, also a neat addition.

Those are some good ideas for more animals, if/when they ever add some. Also think some armadillos in the desert biome would be cool, maybe a roadrunner, or a Gila Monster, stuff native to AZ. Moose sure aren't, but would be neat to encounter in the forest biome anyway. They'd be tough as nails to take down, like a combo of deer and the boar, but high levels to meat. That or an Elk, they would be neat too.

How about little critters, like raccoons and possum? They'd be mostly active at night, the coons could make a bunch of noise in POIs, maybe hang around dumpsters, cause a ruccus if you aggro them, fudgin with your stealth, which would suck but could also be a useful distraction.

It would be nice to see more actual birds in game, aside from zombie vultures only. The hawk sounds cool, could hunt the rabbits. You can hear songbirds in the forest, so they do exist, just as audio only. Even if low cost distant sky models or something, maybe a flock of of geese overhead occasionally, just some little stuff to liven things up a bit.

I'm hoping the new doghouse is a premonition of things to come, either finding a wild dog or taming a wolf, as they've wanted to do since the beginning. Imagine all the work on upcoming bandits will get into how that can/would work.

I personally want to see some robot action(what I do irl), slap a junk turret on a Boston Dynamics style walking robot, would work like the wolf. Should be a late-game INT thing if so, not common or easy to acquire. Could scan ahead and help identify zombies and bandits, stuff like that, be useful even if not armed, and even carry some cargo space. It's not a sci-fi idea anymore, very real thing now. I'm actually doing some concept work for some peeps in Switzerland who are making a Menzi Muck(google it, trust me) autonomous. Crazy walking excavator, a 13 ton robot, is nuts. But that thing would be OP and silly/weird in game, however the smaller bots would not, very practical and do-able imho, eventually.

Do some quests as early as possible, I got my stock as rewards, have plenty even before my first BM.

I have not done a single quest, but got myself stuck in a looting loop and day five is dawning. Have lv3 AK, plan to craft grenades and tonnes of other stuff. Getting bit worried where i am going to hold up for my day 7 blood moon though.

@Fataal
Could the performance issues have anything to do with Chunks? I've had awesome performance up until Day 10 When I decided to leave my little area and head to another city/biome. I went from 90fps outdoors to 15fps when I left my city limits. Up until that I never my city. My performance stayed pretty bad even when I returned home, then it slowly started to get better.

I wonder if chunks are not unloading properly or whatever. Super weird.
The magic word is "city". As long as you stay in the city, buildings will occlude most of the far away textures that seem to be part of the problem.

When everyone posts specs, can you list the video resolution you are using? Makes a big difference. Also if full screen or windowed.
here ya go... and I am not upset, the game looks smooth and great. I come from old school when anything over 30 FPS was awesome.

Also, I had not changed my settings grafix wise. They were at Medium and I was getting 60 FPS. I went to Ultra last night and continued to get 60 FPS and OMG the game looks awesome.

Running:

AMD Ryzen 7 2700X Processor

GeForce RTX 2070 - 8GB

32 GB DDR4-2666

1 TB WD Blue SSD

Resolution: 1920x1080 16:9

And I get a solid 60FPS never up or down... is there some setting I am missing to set max FPS?
