Are we not allowed to start a farm immediately? Is that against gamer law? Why does food need to be complex to be fun?
Of course you can but you can't female dog about it being too complex if you want to do it that early and if food is not complex it is just an annoying button click every few minutes to keep yourself satiated.

 
Do you also need a perk, schematic, or book to learn how to make farm plots? Or can you make them as soon as you have the ingredients?
Just get the ingredients. The seeds are the hard part.

 
Most wiki's are player generated after, I dont know, playing said game............
My point is the owners of TFP hate games so complicated you have to tab out to read a wiki to understand how to do something. It should be simple.

 
By that argument farming should be gone entirely. Two ways to get food. Loot or farm. Pick one to follow that rule.
What are you on my man, you're taking everything hyper literally on purpose. Let me try:

"There should only be one way to ascend vertically, and that's ladders. Boom, jumping gone."

You can't just exaggerate and call that a valid argument.

 
You are missing the point. You join a server, and are trying to help a noob. He asks you how to craft a hoe and you would have to explain the deep process of gathering clay, stones, kill some animals and get some leather, but make sure to use a bone knife to maximize harvest, search a sink for short metal pipes, and then boil some bones and murky water in a campfire to make duct tape. Then you need to find a forge schematic or buy the first rank of engineering. Next you craft a forge and load it with iron (where do I get iron) and clay. Now that you have a hoe you need to gather fertilizer and right click the earth to make it fertile, then you need to plant a seed
Or you can just craft a farm plot and place it, then plant seeds.

A new player would be overwhelmed with how to start a farm and would have interupted you asking many questions like how do I find iron and clay, where do I get the stuff for fertilizer, etc.

At least now you can look it up in the crafting menu and its clearly right there how to do it. The old system was part urban legend and required looking up on the internet exactly how to do it.

I am sorry you were attached to the old method, but anyone can see the new system offers less confusion, smoother harvest because its nice and flat surface, and less uneeded complicated mechanics. Since when is simple the bad guy? Complex stuff is the bad guy.

We want more players to enjoy the game, not have to tab out to figure out complicated systems. If you never played minecraft nobody would figure it out without a wiki. Now its pretty straight forward. Nothing is worse than struggling to learn a game. We're streamlining systems as we go gold only old players will complain, new ones will just enjoy it because they get it right away.
... The same steps are going to be the same for most things, so are you saying you going to remove those crafting steps for all items? Why are hoes singled out?

Hey remember the last time the community was complaining big and you were defending the game? yeah, that was when A17 happened... "a17 skil system is the best ever and you are going to love it" yeah, right...

Do you know the real reason people are complaining about farming? because you are changing the soul of this game. It used to be a complex survival game and now its turning into a dumb shooter. You keep simplifying, and cutting things. Will this increase the player base? maybe, but be careful not to be too similar to the other 1000 zombie games..

Reducing zombie spawns in the wild is very bad. The day that sleepers were added was the worst day ever for the development of this game. Damn, those mf sleepers! You removed cities spawns and you are constantly decreasing zombies outside. Nobody wants that. NOBODY. You should increase zombies outside. Yeah, keep writing excuses like "it is a bad design", "you get sandwiched", "you dont see em anyway", "sleepers are more fun".. this is all bs that you tell yourself. The real reason, the only reason, is performance gains.. I don't know, we were told that a18 had much higher fps than a17, but apparently not, great..

A farm should NOT be a day 1 thing. Really, just get rid of food already. It's never going to be a complex enough system to make it fun enoght to be worth your dev time.
Its not a day 1 thing. Its just not clunky to get started now. Seeds are not easy to find.

I get the sense that TFP wants farming to be more accessible and early in the game, which I agree with since apparently early game is much, much longer. Farming isn't going to get you that dream zombie killing base and m60s or tunnel to china, it will help keep you fed however.

I tried to think of a way to word that so that it did not come off as a****** ish but I was unsuccessful. I don't mean it to be assholish.

 
Its not a day 1 thing. Its just not clunky to get started now. Seeds are not easy to find.
I would make ALL the crops on the RWG maps dead. Navez too. But with a rare chance to drop 1 of that crop. How cool would that be?.

agree 100%

the game has lost all that has made it unique and kept players around for endless hours

i got 2400 hours i remember before A17 thinking WOOO HOO i am going to break 3K hours

i really hope A18 brings me back but from what i am seeing probably not

i may never make to that 3K the way things are going

 
Nope. Did you forget? You already simplified clay. It comes in dirt now. Nitrate? I'm pretty sure there are giant Borg ships sitting all over the ground that have plenty of that and point me towards the exact location of where to find more. Crafting a box? Not exactly rocket science. I can do that literally while I'm running. Not that I have a need to run anymore, the zombies are slower than me and soon there will be half of them.
With all due respect you are going to have to be patient, TFP is getting murdered by 18 so we're making adjustments that might sound horrendous out of context. Nightmare will out run you someday, but there are some larger tech changes to fix that.

But... Why? Food is not an issue. Farming is not a necessity. Except on servers. And on servers, which is where I spend the majority of my time, farming was never "too complex".

he doesnt have real multiplayer experience for sure... and until his recent gameplay, he didnt have endgame experience either

"why are these radiated bullet sponges?" lol

 
I really like the sound of the new farming boxes. It was always a pain to find or make a hoe, i seem to have the worst luck and never find one so use to have to spend points and make one. Then find a spot to farm just so annoying. I think the new boxes are a great addition and make it a little bit more easier. Keep up the awesome work Guys :02.47-tranquillity:
