Can we have the hit sounds changed/fixed? It sounds like the zombies are attacking some metal barrel rather than a human being.

In your opinion what should it sound like when a zombie hits a player wearing iron or steel armor?

The sound would make sense if the player would be inside a metal barrel/box, if hes wearing armor then it should sound more like a hit to a metal plate that is fully solid. Also if the zombie hits non-armor it should be flesh/cloth based

Different from a zombie hitting a metal block a meter away for distinction's sake?

Yeah I think I let everyone's comments go to my head about armor being so great, I got rekt last night trying to melee a bunch of feral/rads. I probably lost 200,000 xp.
You probably didn't take into account that the bigger the zeds group the bigger the bonus they get to damage.

Maybe that's why even with the best armor you will never be able to brawl 1 to 3-5-10...

I do not know, I was asking ZehMatt what his opinion is.

I was just curious what his thoughts were is all.

I have not played A18 so I'm not going to comment on how A18 sounds are or should be.

In the video I do not recall zombies hitting anything metal a meter away. Only thing I heard was zombies hitting Madmole.

Don't suppose you would share some FPS numbers to show how much better?
How would that prove anything, unless you have the same exact rig as him and compare it to A17? I'm a bit confused...

EDIT: nevermind I misread your question.

Not to mention that FPS would range wildly depending on location from location. Coming from my experience for example, I often get 100-140 FPS out in the desert or the wilderness, but it drops to 70-90 FPS while in a town, especially if there are zombies nearby.

Yeah exactly. I had similar thoughts myself and thats why it made no sense.

I'm still confused about his question but I'm probably just not understanding what it is he is asking.

It's probably one of those, "What are your specs?" type of questions. Or one of the, "I'll believe it when I see it." sort of things.

P.S. Wandering horde zombies are such muppets when under the entrance of Dishong Tower. :p I had a wandering horde spawn in the tower on the ground floor and race out the entrance ways in my direction. They raced past me, then turned around to face me, then circled me, then turned around 180 degrees and began running off again, rinse and repeat until I killed them all. ROFL

wtf....lol

drunk zombies maybe?

The second question is about your statement for FPS dips when you had an excessive amount of dead on screen. When a zombie is killed can it be downgraded into a lesser LOD version, without bones and a basic rectangular collider? This would reduce the excessive unused tris, and lower calc and render.

Although it would only be applied for 30 to 60 seconds until the body is removed. In game 30 seconds can be a

lifetime/deathtime depending on what's happening.
You can't just simply remove the bones from a character. The bones are what move the skin, so no bones means no ragdoll, no death animation... it'd be frozen in a T-pose if anything. You could have preset death animations and boneless models that match the last frames of those animations, and swap them in when the death animation is finished. But you'd be giving up ragdolls, and it would frankly look pretty last-gen: a significant step backwards for the game's graphics.

Which sounds just like ______. You know this!
ooh I know! Me mining iron or me breaking store shelves or zombies hitting bars. It's all the same sound.

I bet that means it's just a placeholder for now and will get its own sound eventually.

I do not know, kinda why I'm asking peoples opinions on "sound".

It was pointed out to me the other day that sounds in this game suck, I disagreed.

Although I disagreed I'm open to changing my opinion. It's good to hear from others how they view things.

I honestly do not have an issue with sounds in this game. I've been putting a lot of thought in to why I think this way. Asking others help me understand you know.
