Yeah, that's percentages for you, completely counterintuitive all around..

"20% armor reduction" is where I'd assume you're reducing 20% to 16%, and 90% to 72% which are perceived as two completely different effects.. "triple damage on armored targets" vs "couple percent on lightly armored"

Head shot damage +100%, stealth damage +50%, weapon damage +25%; are we doing

100+100+50+25

or 100*2*1.5*1.25

or (100+100)*1.5 + 25

or some other combination therein ... all equally valid for simple tooltips.

Its to early for math, my head hurts now :( *walks away to grab a coffee*

Quick question (maybe A19 related)

Will there be the ability to upgrade turrets in the future? I.e twin auto turret, heavy armour for blade traps etc...

Put on some heavy Armor and do some everyday tasks and tell us again that it doesn't take skill :)

It takes strength sure, but skill? Not really. It will block the same amount of damage from anyone wearing it. You want it to be a skill? Then the skill is moving in it. The longer you wear it the less movement penalty. That fixes everyone's gripe about leveling the skill and doesn't get rid of, in my opinion, one of the cornerstones of survival games. Namely, LBD.

Hey MM thanks for the base tour, loved it!

I noticed that you used storage crates...

and also signes, because you didn't have the right symbols. For example for mods.

Any chance that you could add new textures for the storage boxes?

Suggested categories:

  • mods
  • vehicles parts
  • electricity parts
  • plants / farm / garden
  • armor / clothing
  • materials

Anyone who plays a longish game has gotten their money's worth out of the purchase and that's not even counting replaying it as a "different class".
That is absolutely no reason to ignore something if it makes the game too easy. Or hell, even if it makes it too hard but only after people have "gotten their money's worth."

An imbalanced game is an imbalanced game no matter how many hours someone has in it. Armor should scale WITH, or slightly faster than, the mobs difficulty. It should NOT outpace it so bad that all danger is gone. If it does, the late game needs balancing.

I also would love some new storage crates added. Had to wrangle some of the modders to help me learn enough of modding to make some of my own (they probalby regetted that lol) but think them being in game as default would be good for everyone.

This would be a dream come true for those of us who are extremely organized. I hope TFP consider your suggestion.

Yah... We relay need that, or at least naming the storage boxes would be enough

Pathfinding feedback

After watching the Madmole day 77 video

and my own play through's. I noticed that the A.I. pathfinding could be improved.
Currently an attacker will attack the weakest point of a structure to get at there objective. But this is faulty because they will ignore other parts of the barrier. If there is another zombie in-front, they will wait, almost as if in line. The last video reinforced my point.

However, in zombies horror films, zombies would attack not just a door but the surrounding walls as well.

So what I suggest is this:

I - Spread out. If a attacking zombie has is blocked from the weakest point of a barrier by another zombie, then it will attack the barrier next to it. So that they spread out. At some point the rest of the group may stay behind them but it depends on what is going on and how many are in the group.

This could look like a triangle with the point with the tip pointed away from the fort.

Depending on the group size. They could also spread out there attack, all along the wall and even around the side of the barrier. Much like probing.

II - Auto correct pathfinding. Many a time I will find a zombie attacking a section of wall or door. (Sometimes even when they can move around it). If they see me an easier path, then they should be able to correct themselves and attack the player and not keep hitting the same barrier. It could happen if part of the barrier was removed or the player moved or the attacker could see/hear the player at a different angle.

III - Different spawning points. Why do zombies spawn from the same direction? You would think that they would attack from all directions. Unless they are blocked by some really large barrier like a mountain.

In summary, zombies should:

Spread out.

Auto correct pathfinding.

Attack from different directions.

Well, letting that slip through would be super dumb. =P
And well, there's always the possibility of zombies with attacks that ignore a % of armor or attacks that debuff you, like cop puke "weakening" your armor... we have quite a few angles there.

That's why some people scoffed at the "only 20% AP" effect that I had set on AP rounds when it really makes a major difference.

Reducing say 60% armor to 40% is not 20% more damage but 50% more.

I like the armor rating /perk damage reduction shown in the video. In my opinion the balance is perfect as it is now in a18. You are still vulnerable if you fail misserable to protect yourself, just not very. We shall remember that we can't quite steadily run away from the enemies with a full heavy build.

*strokes beard while thinking* I'm no programmer so I cannot comment on how pathfinding works but none the less, your ideas sound interesting.

I wonder if this patch Will optimize the game much more. I play with 8 GB of Ram, AMD Radeon HD 6410 A8 and a processor of 2.2 GhZ. Is that low? Or can run the game correctly?

Ok I can answer you truly, because I can test it in several similar rigs:

1- GPU: You are waaaaay below minimum requirements here. You will have A LOT of trouble moving the game even on lowest.

2- CPU: It is also below minimum requirements.

3-Ram: The usual available Ram is 6 gb for an 8 ram rig, because you need to take into account the Operating system & other processes Ram usage. 6 Ram is about what you really have if you use an optimized rig, maybe 6.3 tops. So ALSO waay below minimum.

Results: You can play, but you will suffer. You need to play with everything on lowest and lower your game screen resolution to 800x600 to achieve a playable state. With luck you then will have playable FPS with bumps.

Advise: Buy a decent GPU and CPU with those 8Ram (300-500$ rigs out there with nice enough specs) if you want to be able to play without burning up your retinas.

Edit: Like Gtx 1050ti, some 2,7 GH CPU and 8 Ram

Your new house?
If you can't find it you can stay over at my place.. There's a bed in the basement. If you hear weird sounds from over there, that's probably SnowDog doing his things..
Okay, thanks! I'll get in you dark and wet basement, where some shady stuff has definitely happen just before I got in :) You're a good friend.

No one ever saw Trankitas again.

Well, bananas and fruit fly are 1% and 2% I believe. They are only talking about the genes that make proteins.
It is about the percentage of similar structures in some parts of DNA molecule branches, that gives us similar properties, as being part of Animal Kingdom. Don`t imagine it as a tree with parts of all kind of animals limbs or tissues or whatnot, instead normal tree, its the properties that they all together gave us, to our organisms to be such a thing as what we are now.

Or what we took from them :D

Thanks for mentioning the protein part, I skipped it because we will need a whole new thread to explain.
