It takes 15 minutes to drive on a minibike to Trader Jens from Trader Joel's, so a minimum of HALF my day and that isn't accounting for time taken to browse her inventory and buy/sell what I want. 8k is very large. Speeds have not been changed on anything. I even turned up the gyro speed and it takes ages to fly to one end of the map, a full tank didn't even get me to the border, so I increased the tank size.
What does map size have to do with air assaults in pvp which would be awesome regardless of map size? Or just flying with your friends to PVE a dungeon would be great too IMO. A couple friends got wrecked and need rides to their packs, its a great feature.

An 8k map is way bigger than Skyrim or Fallout 4. 8K is 64 square KM, Fallout has less than 10 square KM. Stop pretending its small. Its been stated numerous times that we'll try to get 16k maps back, but we wouldn't cut a heli as a feature just because a few people have no concept of size.
8K is a nice size. I have 18 players on my server and we are on day 70 with about 40% of map discovered. so yeah 8K works well to about day 1000, after that we usually restart with new map.

we also play nomad+1.

PS: Bicycles are awesome, and we just jump over minibikes and get one player in our team of 2 to get to motorcycles ASAP. at that point we are set. 4x4 are nice but MC is optimal.

there are mods out there that already support up to 8 players in a 4x4 and 2 seats on MC. so I don't see the game needing that. as long as TFP continues to support mods.

No I want to see more data points like block ownership/date/ but that is a different thread :)

Yes, I am holding they shift key, I will tell you again, it's about MY PREFERENCES and again, I didn't tell Madmole to change anything about the vehicles. I already stated that in real life no way I would move so slow, so the need to modify the bicycle was big enough. If you move that slow in real life, then you can be my grandpa, really now...and yes, again, the modding support saved their game, because I can change the game to my own liking.
So if I want to travel the Navezgane with the gyrocopter in 3 seconds(I didn't make it that fast, just as an example), why would that bother you? Isn't this the reason for the modding support? We can make it the way we want it. Don't get me wrong, I am here since Alpha 1. In highschool I didn't have money to buy the game but I played however I could, cracked. Now that I can work and have my own money and married, I bought the game, and I tell you, I love this game too much, too many good memories, but that doesn't mean I agree with everything they do.
Its not slow though, The player runs about 22 mph and the bike is even faster, ignores armor movement and stamina penalties, etc. They are balanced properly. If we make them much faster players would outrun chunk building on vehicles, so no it can't be as fast as some games because voxels have their limits, but its not so slow that it needs user mods to feel right. Its on par with the GTA bicycle speed wise IMO. They use a lot of smoke and mirrors to make you feel like you are moving faster but after about 2 seconds you are max speed they pretty much use motion blur and slow other cars down to make you feel like your moving faster as the gears keep climbing.

There's a way to make it more of an assault vehicle lol...but yeah...

 
Does melee with fist weapons offer combo attacks? Such as landing jab, jab, power punch = knock down and x2 damage? Guess I fail to see why anyone would put themselves in such close fighting quarters if there wasn’t a significant payoff.
No. Its fun, and that is a significant payoff. You don't get infected if you punch them in the face first because you knock their teeth out.

 
Spears have quality so they can’t stack. You don’t have to throw them. They work well as a longer reach jabbing weapon. In fact I find it more satisfying to combo it up with a few jabs and then a throw— and then you are retrieving it only once in awhile.
Do spears have a chance of breaking when they hit their target like arrows do? Or can you always recover them?

 
You didn't read my post very close. I was asking if it'd make sense for regular bandages to only heal your "max health" up to 75% instead of 100%
Or misinterpreted it. By max health I mean the black line.
I did. I'm saying its fine. Players would be confused even further by complicated it more.

 
It's already been confirmed that in order to get large quantities of gas in A18, that we'll have to go mining for oil shale. (Which, in my opinion, is a fantastic change; by day 20 I would always have dozens upon dozens of gas barrels, while I hadn't mined a single bit of shale, so it was very unbalanced.) I was just curious if vehicles will also take more petrol to fill up their fuel tanks in A18? I'm just speaking from a perspective of, "I personally see no reason to up the "fuel cost", nor do I see a reason not to", if you know what I mean.

Edit: As an extension to the question above, will wrenching cars also give us reduced gas (per car) in A18? Because besides finding oil barrels around yonder, wrenching cars also contributed to around 20% of my gas collection before going for oil shale in A17.

At least im consistent Joe....its needed dont you think. It would make a great POI .

Hated had a file of mine when he showed how to put an A16 POI file into A17. Im sure the artists could do a better job than mine.

 
What about a helicopter like I said.
Maybe make it only buy-able at the trader.

Madmole, so finally you came around the idea of a new UI? (for A19)

I thought you would, with all this new skills, icons, etc. It would be very cool to give them a fresher look with a new UI.

I know you said voxels have limitations, that's why I told you not to change anything, I totally understand your reasons, as I said, I was not complaining, this was my way of saying that modding support really helps a lot when you want to implement something in the game, so we can have the option of changing that. It's a win-win scenario for everyone.

I was comparing the bicycle speed with the way I ride the bicycle in real life and yeah, for a game it may not be that good to be so fast. Sorry if I sounded rude or ungrateful, it was not my intention. :smile-new:

Spears don’t break when thrown. They CAN get lost if you miss...

You need to be very careful when you have a beautiful steel spear with a few mods attached. You will love it and cry real tears if it gets lost in the tall grass. Throw with care.

Long throws are very satisfying when they fly true but you’ll mostly only do that with unmodified wood spears. Point blank throwing is much better on your nerves when you have a fully progressed and tricked out spear. Lol

With gas being scarce until you unlock gas crafting the minibike might make a comeback. Motorcycle isn't bad though. 4x4 takes so much gas just to fill I feel bad driving it. Once I get my oil plant going though, I would. Day 50 and no gas can schematic yet. I might have to buy the perk but I'm holding out as long as I can hoping to find the schematic.

We see the gyro as a flying minibike, its a miracle the thing works. I see the helicopter as an airborn assault / transport ultimate end game vehicle.

Spears have quality and accept mods, so no them breaking would enrage people who invested so much in their spear.
