Weather is still a mess. However, the new infection is awesome now.
Great news about the infection system.

By weather, are you refering to the heat and cold or also to the rain and snow? I miss the rain and snow.

With the heat and cold you want to include Acclimatization, which takes about two weeks for a healthy person.

So if a player wants to live in the snow biome, for example, after two weeks their body's will have made changes to make them resistant to cold.

The problem would be if they temporarily went to a hot biome, they could suffer more than others.

+Added: Electrical schematics to loot and traders (Joel)+Added: Craftable power doors and bridges. Unlocked via schematic or tier 4 of Advanced Engineering (Joel)(still need to clean up attachment points)

*Changed: Upgraded trader to use new loot template for books (Joel)

This was no easy task lol. Sounded like a couple hours of work took from 9 to 630 lol.
Awesome stuff!

Those power doors and bridges will be fun tower defense options to play with on Bloodmoon.

Excellent news!
I remember the first and only time I had a generators and I built about 7 or 8 blade traps.(A-17). I lived on top of a garage..and built bridges across the road to the other buildings.. Was all set for horde night -- blade traps running -couldn't wait to hear those z's getting chopped up-- so you know what they did>? went right for my electrical box/generator that I put up high on the wall//// my in experience cost me..lol.. had to run for it and whilst on a bridge they knocked it to shreds and I fell off... I ran into a field and barely survived til morning.. Know how?

Stealth'..... great for solo play. (there was a few fights but I fought em off enough to get to run away and hide a bit- I should state though, that I had the z's set for running not sprinting-otherwise I would have been eaten.
I'm sure I'll run into some gotchas with electricity yet I haven't used it other than in bug testing. Looking forward to using it in a real game.

I built my concrete garage tonight, now I just need the 5x3 door for it!

You mean another static world like Navezgane? No plans for that, who would want that when we have RWG nearly perfected?
how perfected we talking? enough to have huge worlds without using a billion ram?

Craftable power doors and bridges? What a bombshell this is, that is a massive game changer. Alpha 18 was sounding amazing but you really have saved to the best till last.

I will welcome with open arms every expansion to electricity system.

Potentially there can be so amazing things done with it and its so under utilized and basic atm.

A18 was supposed to be a small update about books and balance then all of a sudden:

- BOOM! - random stat on weapons

- BOOM! - block selection tool

- BOOM! - high res textures for terrain

- BOOM! - electric bridges and doors

If it wasn't for the content lock, I'm sure the old glorious caves would squeezed in.

I'm just curious, will the contents within airdrops be altered in A18 (ex. will we see the return of "specialty airdrops", such as one containing medical items, one containing food, etc.), or will they have the same contents from A17 airdrops? (EDIT: Nevermind, it was answered previously. Moving on...)

Edit: Also, just speaking theoretically here (I'm not asking, but rather a friend of mine is), will the contents of the airdrops get, on average, progressively more useful as the days go on in your world? (Let's say you had AD to being on every day, to keep things simple, and because I hate math. Lol. A day 1 AD would have, say, some regular bandages, maybe a few bullets, and maybe some canned food; a day 50 AD on the other hand would contain, for example, some bullets, maybe a gun or two, and some more advanced medical and food items. There would, theoretically, be a cap to this progression, of course.)

Super happy infection is back. Still waiting on bandits since A14. :) Hey I know I know...when they are ready . JK Thanks for the infection. Lights cigarette and turns out the light.

Not to mention that zombies appear to very light sleepers these days, since a lot of them can awaken based on you standing in an "activation area", from what I understand. As it's been stated before, there's both pros and cons to going Stealth.

@Vapid Actions,

No apology needed :) I'm not a good writer and often fail to make my point clear. And when I do I generally come across as a cousin to a donkey, heh.

If you didn't play a16 I would really recommend that you take a look at a few vids for horde nights where they used a pole defense or a 'toothie' base. Quite night and day :) (and if it looks like fun, and it really was, you can always opt into a16.4 and give it a go yourself)

In general I agree w you about alternate methods of attaining 'rare' items. Just be aware that the history is that, in general, TFPs may not see it that way. For the specific "Stealth Build" I would argue that a can is a critical part of that build and leaving it entirely to rn-jebus isn't maybe the best design choice. But it ain't up to us :)

Seeing as all of this -is- an Alpha, and 'Balance' is always getting tweaked, you might consider making rules for yourself to bridge any gaps in the road.

For a17 I've had a rule that if I don't have 2 Beakers by lvl 100 I fake buy them from a trader. Haven't had to use it lately since the RWG update resulted in Pop-n-Pills being more common. Point being, don't kill your enjoyment by refusing to 'cheat' a bit. And, for me at least, if I have the rules down before starting a new playthrough then it doesn't feel quite so much like cheating.

Just an example bit here. I've had playthroughs, prior to a17.4, where I didn't have a Cooking Pot until I crafted one in a forge. Which was -totally- ok. There was a way to attain it, beside rn-jebus. So for me my personal 'rules', and modlets, are sort of like that, they keep a playthrough from stalling out.

If I implied equal, I meant balanced. This is subjective to your own "what is fun meter".
Mining is improved (identifiable nodes on surface lead to nice mines right below them). Getting large quantities of materials to make bullets is fairly trivial if you are willing to mine. The biggest bottleneck is the crafting time, but I only have two forges and one workbench. I can get 2000 X from midnight to 4 am.

I still don't see it as imbalanced the AK 47 guy has much superior firepower when the ♥♥♥♥ hits the fan. The stealth guy uses silent methods and has an SMG when things get nutty. Not even close to an Ak. But he builds up loads of ammo doing his thing.

If you are using 500 bullets for a POI you might want to work on your aim. I used 200 9mm and 100 magnum once for my agility guy doing a pure shoot crawl of the bear den For my AK guy I might use 100-150 max. That equals out fairly close IMO.
Well fair enough. I'm not exactly a marksman lol. But you told me your gamestage and yea, your not facing the zombies I was.

Also I'm more talking about the big t5 towers. I'd clear the bear den using zero ammo. It's the big t5 towers that are the issue.

Thing is your playing alpha 18 and I'm on alpha 17. The fact you dont have to worry about ammo gives me hope for alpha 18. Looking forward to it.

I have a question about books. So if I will find a book, that I already know, is it possible to let me know somehow that I have already read that book, and I can pass it to the team mate? If not, we will waste some books by reading them twice, or waste some time, to found out if we already know this one.

I have a question about books...
There will be a list (next to skills tab) of all books and the books you've read will be marked. But yeah, I'd like some way to see if the book I'm holding is already 'read' without consulting the list.

i can safely tell you that i just gave myself a stack of 1 type book and read each one... it is not a waste as you get xp for each one when you read it..

so the brite side is... read it when you find them and gain more xp and find more.

as for your friends.. if you choose to not read them... then place them in a container and let your friend get it and read it. :) no harm either way and each one netted 50 xp points to me (fresh character and no mods eg... glasses).

read one stack.jpg

read 140 more of same book.jpg

Man I have so much fun making absolutely useless constructs, specifically electrical/mechanical, in video games.
The more it looks like it does something (or many things!) whilst doing nothing at all, the better.
Interestingly machines that do a simple thing VERY roundabout have their own name, i.e. Rube Goldberg machine, but absolutely useless machines have none. Get some youtube fame with one of your machines and you might be remembered as the "inventor" of the Socrastein machines. Because Marvin Minsky missed the opportunity to put his name there (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Useless_machine)

Small update? Have you met The Fun Pimps!?

They don't know what small means. ;)

Yeah and a million other things added to. They have to draw the line somewhere. Otherwise they would never get an update out lol.

Don't worry they may get that done in the next. Hopefully. :)
