i think maby people should see how the builds work out befor really delveing too deap into "fixing" something that has been alterded, befor even playing the altered verion
by altered i mean the changes being maide in alpha 18
Well no doubt, but without conjecture this forum would be dead. =)

I jst added a suggestion for stealth because I think people think stealth is a liitle underbalanced or something not sure

we called it "flavored water". It was so delicious you got the upset buff cause you were mad you can't ahve anymore
If you considered that stuff “flavored water” then you must also consider the resulting debuff as chocolate soft serve dispensing...

/squatty potty

Stealth build is also agility build, meaning he does maximum damage with cheap 9mm ammo, nearly free bow ammo, and has the most powerful handgun in the world that will blow a man's head clean off, the 44 magnum. He slices and dices.
I mean if you stealth through your POIs during the week and slit everyone's throat with a knife, you'll have loads of ammo on horde night and do just fine. I did.

Its not incredibly hard to pick up an AK here and there either and use all that 762 ammo you found on horde night. TO me the AK guy has to mine, the 9mm stealth guy sort of doesn't near as much. Maybe for his 44 ammo but if you use bows and knives mostly you should have enough 9mm for oh ♥♥♥♥ situations and hordes.
Thanks, I wasn't aware stealth came with other abilities. =)

...also, I vote for the swear filter being removed on the forum...

Consider that a stealth ability to remain hidden in a shadow as long as you don’t move results in a night of standing still in a shadow. Scintillating gameplay....
Question: How is this an improvement over standing in your base protected by traps or your fellow compatriots if in a MP server.

I pray this question helps others (and myself) better formulate our own opinions.
The way I see it a stealth char perked up would be able to sneak arrow a few guys, take cover in the shadows and lose them if he's careful and moves down a few dark hallways and makes some turns. So he might be able to ditch zombies on horde night or hold up somewhere and be ok. Currently not implemented.

sounds like a good concept

I heard purified water is that a new type of bottled water?
Yes there is purified water in loot and a rare book that unlocks crafting it. Its super hydrating and has similar buffs as tea.

That would work well with the player heat map; do it too much and they've got your scent. Now you're scrambling to either fight with your weaker build or find a way to hide again. The past discussed Breadcrumbs would have come in handy...

...besides, if a player really wants to, he can just continue sitting on the roof crafting and farming while his buddies handle his zombies anyway, which happens quite a bit.

But I also don't know if y'all focus more on SP play or MP play... I assume SP, but I'm wondering what the percentage of focus is...

If there is skill involved and a sort of cat and mouse mini game to it then that’s great. Even better is if the hiding spot you are in builds heat over time eventually forcing you to move and possibly become exposed and then having to work to lose the zombies in the shadows again.

I'm down with this as well. Your "scent" builds up over time as you sit still or something. In game mechanic speak, your very presence in a chunk raises its heat level.

Yeh, definitely on board with that.

would we use coal in the recipe by any chance? in most games I have played it may have coal in or even better you could implement purification tablets

I don't know though i'll see when it gets released

The desire to sit still on a horde night while your friends are having fun around you is probably the same as the desire to log off and take a long poop; those people are going to be the lowest percentage of minorities, but by having a "personal heat map" even moving or hell if you're sick, coughing would attract attention... and, it's simply one suggestion out of two made so far. I'm certainly open to others.
Can't belive I'm saying this... but I agree with roland.

If you buy that perk, because it is part of your perktree that you go down, you want to use it.

So either: dont use it and feel like it was a waste, or use it and have to sit still for 20min.

Not good design

If we go there, it would require top perks and probably a fair amount of effort to stay hidden, like eventually they might find you if you just sat in one spot. One other way might allow him to get some stealth shots off so he gets his damage bonus but he's never safe. Like you can duck behind something, move to a new window, snipe an arrow and get a sneak shot off here and there during a horde, but they would still be kind of in a frenzy and find you if you stay put too long.

Then build in a reason to NOT just sit there, that still allows you to play to your stealth strengths, like the ones mentioned.

Can't just say "no" based on current parameters, you have to consider potential parameters as well.

So far the best idea IMO is the one where you build up "heat" even sitting still, so that you're forced to, but CAN, sneak around avoiding them catching your scent. Everyone wins, AND it plays to the strengths of a stealth build.

I am happy with perk system in A18 getting rebalanced but my one problem is Archery perk. All combat perks have passive bonuses and special mechanic starting at level 3. Lots of combat perks got their mechanic redone to be more interesting but archery is still left with only passive bonuses . Any chance you could look into it?

I like to play SP but I join the testers who often play together from time to time. MP makes things too easy with trading and stuff.

If he shoots, it's like that scene in Predator, the enemy now knows where you are, so he has to shoot, and QUICKLY move to a "new window" to not be discovered, and hope that window is far enough away from the one you shot from because that area is now flooded with zombies.

I'm digging this idea.

It’s just like the criticism we have heard pre-A16 about how there was nothing to do at night because people just stayed inside their base sitting around waiting for the sun to come up. With A16s broken zombies at night and A17s broken zombie speed more and more people have gone outside at night and that particular negative feedback has abated.
That's funny. I was always very busy at night in A15. I went into the mine to mine stone and iron. The same in A16 but with sand, stone and iron because I started in the desert. Only in A17 I didn't have much to do at night in the early game.
