With few xml changes you can get any size of roaming horde you want - in my last playthrough I had 200 zombie hordes and to make things worse it is easy to make wondering hordes composed only from zombie dogs or zombie bears or radiated cops or wrights, it is so funny when 150-200 zombie dogs run past you...also this will make traders unsafe as zombies can jump on top of each other and they easily get behind traders walls, scary and a lot of fun :) on a similar note you can always edit zombie spawns in biomes, just add one 0 to the end of each number and you will have nice zombie infested land :)
Lol I will try that. Awesome Idea for a mod btw; Pet Cemetery mod, no zombies just animals.

Wow, that's pretty intense!
We've found that it's pretty easy to forget a bloodmoon could occur. A couple hours isn't much time to make sure one is geared up for the horde depending on where one is at.

I think there is something to be said for having adapted to the game. I agree it used to seem harder, but I've been playing for a long time now and can't really get back in the earlier headspace.

Dog and zombie bear packs though... that will do it, lol.
Ya, my brother just bought this game and he thinks it's super hard so I guess I've just adapted to it. There is nothing like your first Bloodmoon.

I'm just imagining how you are looting in a big building like the Crack a Book tower or the Dishong tower, a lightning flashes across the sky and the horde starts. Would be too intense for me but if you like something like that you would surely have a lot of fun with it. But here it would be more about escaping the horde instead of fighting it.

I think it was more like the latter. I started with Alpha 15 when there were no ferals or radioactive zombies. Nevertheless, at the beginning the hordes were much more fearsome than they are now. When I learned in Alpha 15 how to protect myself and how to build a defense, the horde lost much of its horror.

In Alpha 16 and Alpha 17, however, there were moments when the horde scared me. That's when things aren't going according to plan and you have to realize that the defense doesn't hold. But I don't want to experience that with every horde.
That would be so intense; to be in a tier 5 POI and a bloodmoon hits. All the sleepers in that build would wake up and start tearing it to sunder. Seeing them break their way through the weak walls and floors trying to get at you would be insanely scary.

The game is an RPG, how you win should be up to the player. We typically only put in anti measures if it just plain feels too easy. There should be risks driving a vehicle somewhere on horde night, like random engine failure or zeds running out in front of you causing a wreck and ragdolled player. Eventually we'll get there. Nerfing gas to that point isn't the goal though.
I like that! Engine failure.

Scum handles that pretty well. If you dont put points in to your driving skill you drive like a drunk. It looks hilarious : )

You mean you can only buy gasoline (petrol)? What about gas stations?
Ounce? Don't you mean Gallons or liters?
He's just joking. He wants us to mine shale to have a surplus. Right now we never need to do that because gas is so plentiful in and around POIs. I agree that it negates an entire biome from a mining perspective so this would be a good change. Plus you can still find gas at POIs.

That's a fair point. And I'm saying nerfing gas to the point people cant use bikes to run from hordes wont work. If gas would be so rare to not let people use bikes against the horde then how can we have enough to travel rwg for looting purposes?
I dont see a solution.

I am a fan of having this game be as popular as possible. And removing playstyles doesn't help that. Maybe TFP dont agree. Maybe they think these moves make the game more popular. I can see that opinion, even if I disagree. Or maybe they dont care about popularity and just want to make the game they want to make. I can respect that.

I dont think anyone is "evil". And I dont think of myself as a "saint" I simply want the game to do as well as possible.
Solution is to make cars actually difficult to acquire and more difficult to maintain. Gasoline too.

Its been confirmed that some POIs are not worth the effort and ammo sink, so they are making adjustments.
Of course you can do it...

...but should you? Should every poi be "worth it"? I don't think so. Random rare finds of great loot should be random.

You cannot paint block models or model entities, you need to create a block shape, only those are paintable.
If that doesn't work you'll have to wait for steam workshop.
Steam workshop is going to open up new modding possibilities? I thought it was just a way to distribute mods, I had no idea it would inherently add more mod support. That's cool that it'll enable mesh shape imports. :)

Distant terrain is looking good!

We've talked about horde nights creating an electromagnetic storm that shuts down vehicles, or have zombies run in front of you and really damage vehicles because they are feral.
How about random "gas" clouds forming during horde night that threaten to stall the engine? So you can drive but at the risk of the engine stalling and zombies catching up. Could also be good to have a risk for the vehicle to explode upon taking too much damage.

I like it.

You could even just use a fog that's everywhere instead of random "gas" clouds.

Then have the durability of vehicles drop 2x, 3x, ... times as fast. That should be deterrent enough, if vehicles are also more expensive to maintain.

It`s not distant, its brilliant. Looks so much well and alive.
Yes and to top things off there were some nasty RWG bugs that were causing unwanted land masses and killing erosion and mountain heights etc. Imagine blending two images together but one was rotated / flipped the wrong way, so basically all kinds of havoc in the RWG we've been showing thus far.

The zombies would have to know where my base is first of all. If I didn't put a sleeping bag and a landclaim block there, the zombies would have to attack every block set by the player.
Or I could simply choose a sacrificial building where I put my sleeping bag and landclaim block. Then the zombies would have a lot of fun tearing down e.g. the Dishong Tower and I watch the show from the other side of the street :)
Easy fix to that: zombies target valuables. Containers, workstations, vehicles..

Wait so those hills/mountians was created in the RWG, not Navezgane?

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Was not easy, but I did it.

Sofar my guy and myself have logged over 300 hrs in 7 days then we found Ravenhurst and we now been playing for 3 weeks daily and we brought friends to the game as well. So how i or anyone else spends their damn off time at home on their computers that they bought and paid for is personalty none of your concern or business Madmode. Shawnie

Welcome to the forum. What Madmole said was that mods are off topic here, and he's right. There's more to this forum than this thread. We have a whole section where you and others can talk about mods. - Moderator

I see it more as a motivator for the players to mine oil shale. If I were someone who wants to avoid the horde, I'd just ride my bicycle or walk during the week. By the way I also have to save gas for the generators in my base to fight the horde.
The fact that there will be less gasoline to be found in A18 has actually been known for weeks. If I remember correctly madmole said back then that the player would have to decide in the future whether he could make several short trips per week or one long trip. He didn't mention the horde at that time.
And I have no problem with that, as I said, gas is, imho, too abundant at the moment. It should be rarer, but rarer to make it a more valuable resource per se, not rarer in some attempt to use it as a "Don't Avoid the Horde" mechanism.
