New shape selector looks awesome MM! I noticed poles are in there (thank god) Will this also include railings and catwalks etc or will we still need to craft those at the saw?

Looking good, the new shape menu looks like a really nice QoL addition.

One question though, will more of the hidden shapes currently only accessible in creative be made available to normal play? For example, flagstone stairs 50, which I noticed weren't in the shape menu in the youtube vid.

It may be worth adding the ability to rotate the blocks in the opposite direction, for example, if you pinch the Shift while rotating? Very often you need to go back one position, and not rotate all the options. Thank )
I'm sure we'll figure something out for this, its a bit PITA when it happens.

We'll have to go through them and decide what we want to add. We just added the existing recipes for starters. I'd like to get some categories in there like railings, stairs, roof pieces, but that might come later.

Am I right in thinking that now you craft a base material, such as flagstone, and you can use various quantities of that to make the different shapes?
You just craft a flagstone block and decide what shape it is. The economy for all blocks has been the same for a long time now.

Looking forward to seeing A18 in a couple hours :)

Actually if you want the z you should really use the whole number pad. There would be 4 of what we are calling "z". They would be the equivalent of a combination of the others. So the z-rotations would be equivalent to these: Right-up, Right-down, Left-Up, and Left-Down.
Or you could assign up to 24 different keys and get to any rotation in one keystroke. :) It just depends how many keys you're willing to devote to this. With +/- yaw, +/- pitch, and +/- roll, and assuming 90° increments, you should be able to get to any rotation, from any rotation, in a maximum of 3 keystrokes. Here's a visual aid for Roland's point that technically you can do everything with +/- yaw and +/- pitch alone.

With all that said, shift-mousewheel to scroll back and forth through a list would be just dandy!

No 18 runs way better than 17. WAY better.
Has there been any headway on Vulkan implementation?

Ya, just watched. Looking amazing as hell! Also, Advanced Bellows :fat:

Advanced Bellows? (haven't seen the video yet...)

Sounds like a good use for a hairdryer to me. (additional item to connect to the generator/battery bank)

We still need to have some meetings about how to sort everything.
Honestly, the table saw is cool, but it feels pretty useless as a workstation right now, imagine in a18. Nice for creative though. I would love to see some meaningful crafting in it (traps?, mods?... wooden BLUEPRINTS? big modular walls? Pinocchio?).

It was said they will have to do some meetings to figure out the direction of the table saw, what if the table saw was used for making the creative menu blocks that aren't normally available? The new block shape menu would be for normal building with the shapes everyone is used to, and later game when you have the table saw and are looking for something to keep you interested would provide the special shapes for aesthetics?

Another thought, regarding the fate of the table saw. When you think of a table saw you're thinking cutting only wood which limits its use.

Change the skin of the table saw, add diamond to the recipe, and call it a diamond bladed multi purpose saw, that can be used to make unique items not available from the usual menu.

That would give the saw a purpose for multiple materials for late game usage?
