I was just messing around and built some stuff so fast, it truly is as awesome as I had always dreamed. The castle builder in me was filled with childlike glee as if I had built my first lego house.
This just pumped my anticipation for A18 into the post-apocalyptic stratosphere.
Although I was at first excited to see the tablesaw added in A17, because new shiny thing, I ended up hating it once I realized it took away all my early game shapes to work with. I did enjoy A17, but mainly for exploring all the new awesome POIs, but I did not build anywhere near as much as I did in A16, and what I did build was square and boring by comparison. Anyway, great move by implementing this, I am super excited to build again.
What I do miss is having bloodless spikes, I am squarely in "hate the new spikes" camp for this reason more than any, I do like the metal upgraded spikes, just want them without the blood. It makes no sense, ruins my immersion, and takes away the useful indicator of where Z's were attacking that was possible by simply looking for blood on the spikes. It feels fake now and I hate it. Also hope electricity system got some love, the dramatic drop in light options, inability to power POI lights, and turrets shooting walls, ended my desire to build bases earlier than expected in A17. Once I had finished exploring the new POIs I stopped playing and have been in observe forums and wait for A18 mode.
I am pumped to build with the new system, just hope enough is fixed/improved overall that I actually play like I used to in A16 again. You guys are making great progress regardless, and are the most interactive dev team I have yet encountered in decades of gaming. Keep it up, excited for A18.
