Hi madmole,
Now that you have played the stealth build... did you notice how weird it is that hitting blocks while stealthed generates no noise whatsoever?

Also, does stepping off of tiny heights (i.e. half block) still generate a noise spike?

Honestly these two issues made me stop playing stealth in A17.
I think hitting objects makes noise, just half or something like that. I'm not sure about the half block stuff I need to test that.

Thrown weapon improvements.... can we please get a see through preview arc like so many other games have?
Come on man, learn by doing. That crap isn't needed. Might as well add an auto aim while we're at it.

I play RUST and there is no crosshair. I can hit a deer at 100 yards with a bow after I've been playing regularly and got the arc and range down pat. It just takes practice, and it feels really rewarding to have mastered the physics through practice.

True, was mostly thinking about the already existing turrets and somehow lumped the new gun in the same category. Nevertheless, I think that having more than one available at a time opens up an exciting new gameplay option - place one gun down and keep one on yourself, best case scenario your damage output doubles. That in itself makes a lot of difference in single player games.
Your better off switching to a real firearm after placing one, as they don't do a ton of damage because they shoot scrap iron (get 10000 rounds in one night mining). Firing it while held is more of a novelty than something great. Although I haven't played it ranked up yet, so maybe they are badass I don't know tbh.

Most geologists classify a mountain as a landform that rises at least 1,000 feet (300 meters) or more above its surrounding area.
Yeah and since there is at least 60 meters wasted on mining that leaves about 190 maximum for mountains, and even less because we need some space to build on top of the mountains. Chris talked of changing it to 512 but I don't think he ever did, it might eat a lot more memory and data to do that.

Because if regular animals are attracted to you as a result of you having stockpiled meat, it defeats the purpose. It just becomes a meat factory. You kill them and end up with even more meat. It’s like saying we need to nerf the amount of wood a player can have, so if they have too much, then spawn extra trees around their base.
About the only thing I can think of that might make sense is while the player is away a bear could break down your door and raid your cupboard. We'd evaluate your fort while the chunk is loaded and set up a path for the offline chunk unloaded attack. You come home and a bear is there playing an eat anim and your doors are broke, provided there the bears offline attack role is greater than your base defense score.

But yeah bears coming while you are home is just more meals on wheels. I doubt we'd ever do anything like this either. Maybe make zombies attack food chests with raw meat in them would be doable if they can't reach you they smash your food boxes.

If the animation was able to be interrupted by switching weapons or clicking to fire, yes.
As we all know its not yet. Once the tech allows that I could see a hl2 style shotty reload working. We've taken a lot of the steps needed for this to happen but we need to resolve ability to abort a reload yet on all weapons.

I love that you're taking advantage of book sets that deliver something special when they're all collected. :)
Yes noone has collected a full set because there are so damn many books/schematics in loot now. Some of us are over level 50 too.

No you wouldn't. You really want to watch 12 shells load and be locked up for 20 seconds?
People like the aesthetic of scripted shell by shell loading rather than the objectively more effective and quicker single animation. And you wouldn't necessarily reload from empty every single time.

Not to mention a scripted reload usually can be stopped without loading every single shell in games that got it.

Is late game melee balance being looked at? Currently a17.4 club with maxed out perks and mods out performs heavier weapons without any penalties.

No wonder my forefathers (100% dutch) didn't mind immigrating to Nebraska, the flat life.
Ah nice! Hehe yeah they must have felt right at home there..

Any chance you know where your family came from in the Netherlands?

Don't listen to geologists, man.. they be crazy!

Zero SKILL perks, books themselves unlock their own special unique perk.
Speaking of perks..:

Cooking perk bonus ideas:

1-you can cook x new item and gives you a 1% chance to cook a specially tasty meal that gives more food/water per unit cooked [only 1 lucky item]

2- Another idea: Masterful chef :You have a tiny chance of getting double cooked items for the cost of 1.

Watcha think?

Does it auto-aim and fire when you're holding it like it does when it's placed, or do you aim and fire manually when it's in your hands?

with the right perks and mod attachments.. i can have no issues with other weapons too. :)

and you say no penalties???? the melee player is in the heat of the battle... he/she is not up on a ledge shooting, he/she is getting attacked by the zombies and using stamina at same time... so i wouldnt say there is no penalty... but a18 will be different in a lot of ways that affect all styles. :)

That system on its own would be good to have around. If not for this, then for a plethora of other possibilities.

In this case though -- while it would be awesome to see in the typical cases so not saying anything negative about it in that regard -- it's still not a fool-proof idea because of the many possible structures without paths to the chests. I don't know if you are aiming for a guaranteed issue to happen if someone has stockpiled food, or not.
