They nearly got into my basement, quite a few holes in the foundation down there.
Yeah, I'm seeing that right as we speak. Unless you've already invested in this procedure, perhaps some double thick walls down there could help?

actually, 2 shotgun turrets facing opposite corners would work well down there. they seem to almost always breach the basement. and the shotgun turrets wont waste much ammo in the confined space.

you have a decent junk turret, mind doing a short vid, perhaps poi clearing with it used as a firearm? I am beginning to see the light on the int build. so inquiring minds want to know

That was a terrific horde night! It seems to be much more manageable and fair (lol) in A18. In A17, that tower would have been shredded well before the middle of the horde night, I would imagine. Cannot wait for the next video! :D

The footsteps added a lot to the sense of urgency.

The torches look great.

The lighting and shadows in general look great.

The grenade explosions seem spot on in terms of damage, radius, and the ragdoll physics. Unsure if I like the explode on contact ones, something to get used to I guess. Can’t wait to try them out though.

The sound of the turret has a raw, mechanical sound that you would expect.

I thought the whole thing was nearly perfect. There are only two minor things I saw that I would wish for:

1) The spit/vomit I think is not so great. It always looked not so great to me, but with so much polished now, it's starting to really stand out to me. It's something that is probably really difficult to get looking right, but it looks out of place to me. Maybe it's a little flat? Or maybe it lacks the fluid motion I would expect? I don't really know. Maybe some short-lived gooey, steamy residue left behind on objects.

2) I don't know how the controls would work to keep it simple and intuitive, but it would be nice to have a melee option with the guns to strike with the butt end. I so badly wanted to see that when the vultures were in your face. You try to shoot but many times the end of the barrel is extended past the model of the bird. A quick strike with butt end to push it back a couple feet, then quickly followed by a shot would have been superb.

Its day 28 horde night for an Alpha 18 perception build, check out the junk turret, contact grenades and kill streak perk!

Excellent video MM, everything is definitely starting to gel together. Exciting times.

@Madmole

What is up with the granades now exploding upon impact? If that was changed on purpose not a good idea for those times we might accidentally release it by mistake or aim wrong, as in what happen to you. Atleast a 3 second delay is needed for this very purpose IMO.

I have not really used auto turrets in this game because of the loss of potential XP from the kills. This has always bothered me and thus made that type of base defense unappealing. I'm not sure how much this idea would throw off balancing of the xp/leveling system but maybe make it so that turrets give 1/4 of the xp from a zombie kill to the owner. That tiny amount per kill would at least elevate the feeling of lossed xp to turrets.

he has a point here, should be a 3 second delay between releasing the lever and tossing the pineapple. not from pulling the pin

A nice little touch would be to code in cooking off the granade as well. In this way one can cook it off and if timed correctly, have it explode upon impact. This would give the player maximum control over the granade and explosion as possiple while adding a touch of realism to the weapons aspect of the game.

that may be asking a bit much with existing code
