PC All players being saved as EOS players when none of us are?

Since 2.6 arrived I have had multiple crash-to-desktop (CTD) issues. I believe it is when saving because my HDD/SSD/NVME activity light goes solid, the game freezes, sound stops, then I am on my desktop. In looking for something to identify so I can file a proper bug report, I noticed that my friends and I are saved as EOS_xxxx in the save file, while none of us use Epic. We're all Steam players from WAY back in the early days. When I go to manage saves and I select our save, it shows me as a Steam player (I host) and them as EOS players. Why?

Why is this important? Each time the game dies, it is during an EOS event. Either saving our players or trying to communicate with Amazon AWS. Why is my game communicating with AWS?

On top of that, we all despise Discord and have it set to disabled, but it seems to be enabled. Not sure if it is related.

Do I need to edit a file to kill Discord?

TL;DR:
Why are our Steam players being saved and showing as EOS players?
Why is Discord seemingly enabled when we all have it disabled?
Why is my game talking to Amazon AWS?

Basic info:
EOS uses AWS, as do a LOT of online services. EOS is used for all players as a way to allow crossplay as it creates a unique identifier for each player that is not tied to the platform being used. Even if you are all on Steam now, if you were to invite someone to join who isn't on Steam, there needs to be a unique identifier for players already in the game and not try to redo identifiers of everyone in the middle of a game just to allow a non-crossplay player to join you. The in-game chat/voice system uses Discord now, and even if you're not signed into Discord, you're just using "guest" access to allow access to the in-game chat/voice system.

Specific info:
It could be possible that there is some problem with one of those systems that is causing you to crash. However, even if it's related to those, there is a good chance that it's something on your system that's causing the crash even if it's being triggered by one of those systems. You should post in the Support forum or Bug forum and include a full log so someone can look into it for you. You should also try without any mods installed (completely remove or rename the Mods folders in AppData AND the game folder) and start a new game and see if you have the same problems as it may be caused by a mod. The information you showed above is normal to see and not something that should in any way cause a crash or else everyone would be crashing, so more information would be needed to find the cause of your crashes.

Also, keep in mind what you stated... the crashes happen when your hard drive light turns solid. That indicates a local issue, where EOS/Discord/AWS are online communications even if they touch really tiny files on your computer. That communication shouldn't ever cause a drive light to turn solid. It's far more likely to be caused by something else.

It's not local. Background: I do IT for a living, and know how to check HDD, SSD, and NVME SMART data, I monitor my hardware, and am not concerned about any of it at this point. The other big thing is that Ark: Survival Ascended, Star Rupture, Schedule I, and many other games run flawlessly. 7 Days did until the update, but not now. I have indeed verified game files and only one failed, one that I have NEVER touched. It was boot.cfg. No changes since it was replaced. No errors in the console as the game loads.

As for the EOS/AWS info, that is fine, I was primarily curious since each crash seems to occur when it logs that it is saving an EOS file, usually accompanied by the error about AWS. I'm still gathering info and logs and since it is random, it is hard to nail down. If the same pattern keeps appearing I am going to strip my logs and submit them. I have to strip them due to my actual name being in them, nothing else.

Solid light indicates a long read or write cycle. I believe this is when the game crashes and tries to write the world to disk (save the game). This doesn't even happen in ASA (ASA won't crash either, and it uses much more power than 7 Days) so I am fairly sure that it's the game trying to save our progress due to the crash. SMART data says the NVME (PCIE4.0) that it lives on is fine. No ECC, no reallocated, no pending, nothing. Windows lives on a separate drive that also reports everything to be good.

Since 2.6 arrived I have had multiple crash-to-desktop (CTD) issues. I believe it is when saving because my HDD/SSD/NVME activity light goes solid, the game freezes, sound stops, then I am on my desktop.
